Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz: Technical Issues and Solutions

Hi everyone, i recently bought a ciaz vdi+ on Jan 1,2017 and since 2nd day i have been hearing rather tolerating some unpleasant noises coming from inside the car and i would request you all to tell me what could be the possible reasons behind it or if they are indicating some major problem then how to go forward with maruti.
1. There is a continuous ticking or clicking sound coming from behind when the car is in motion. (Ac and music system off) I m assuming that it is coming from the rear seats
2. Whenever i press the clutch there is a clicking sound.
3. Vibration coming from driver side door
4. A lot of tyre noise (i don't know if its normal with mrf tyres)
5. Seat noises
6. Also, while shifting gear from 1st to 2nd i get a jerk almost 70 percent of the time.

Would wait for your feedback on this

Thanks

Tyre noise is normal with MRF Tyres.
Seat noises ,(Have you added seat covers,if yes, then that's the reason, the seat assembly must have been disassembled, and this causes rattle, you have to live with it))
Optimum RPM for Suzuki Diesels are 2k rpm.(Generally for all cars its the optimum)
The clicking sound can arise due to number of factors-
1.Clutch greasing in lug nut may be needed
2.Check for debris in the area.

Thanks for your reply !!

Yes i got the seat covers on from the dealer only (bucket fitting) but few of my colleagues have done the same and they don't get any noise. However i checked the clutch noise in 2 more ciaz vdi+ and heard the same noise again. So i guess its normal with this car. Could you please tell me why i feel a jerk while shifting to 2nd gear. What can be done to reduce the ticking noise ??

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz: Technical Issues and Solutions

I am having few issues in my car are you guys also facing this kinda issues

1) Guys has anyone checked speedometer speed shown correctly or not. I checked it with different GPS speedometer apps at various speeds my car is showing 8kmph more than the normal speed. I even told the service center guys but they says it's correct. Any of you guys can check you car and let me whether having the same issue.
2) Do you guys can hear the isg motor running sound while accelerating because after getting the car from service I am not able to hear the same.
3) I am having an issue with car steering wheel feedback. After turning steering wheel it's not returning back fully to straight initial position. Is any one facing the same issue.
4) Have you guys noticed in your car that when you switch on headlights isg motor will not work while accelerating. This one was no where mentioned in the manual or no one told me while purchasing.
the isg motor noise you speak of,is it the noise you hear when you accelerate in second and third gear but goes away when you shift to fourth.in my case i can hear it when i accelerate in said gears noise increases as i accelerate its like a second engine working inside engine bay.is this normal my first service coming up

Did you get a solution for this. i have exactly the same issue for my petrol ciaz

Hello,

My ciaz zxi is hardly 2 years old . When i try to give a sudden throttle say 20 to 35 km at second or third gear a knocking sound comes of the engine.it is same for sudden acceleration for all gears except first.this happens in case car is ascending a slope.

I did a complain to maruti and they did a number of checks on the driving shaft and engine and could not figure it out.they are telling that all parameters of engine are fine and are sort of telling me that i have to live with it.

Kindly let me know if any one had faced this issue and could resolve the same....or wat can be the possible issue for the sound.he sound comes from the area of front right tyre

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz: Technical Issues and Solutions

Hi Friends,

Im new to this forum, and wanted discuss some issues i faced/facing with my Ciaz ZDI SHVS.

Bought the car in April16, after a lot of research reading forums everywhere! Thanks to the car gurus of all forums.

First service at 1010 KM: complaints reported - Nil. changed engine oil (mineral) and oil filter.

Second service at 5400: complaints reported - Mild jerk when i upshift from 1st to 2nd gear, and minor vibration felt on foot during upshift from 4th to 5th gear, though not a worrying factor but wanted to check at MASS. Changed engine oil (mineral) and oil filter. Clutch bleeding done and there are no jerks or vibrations.

Third service at 10100: complaints reported - mild jerk and vibration as reported during the second service, nothing to worry about but good to find the cause and rectify.

MASS engineers found clutch might be an issue and offerred clutch replacement under warranty, since the issue was reported earlier. After a lot of thinking, reading forums. I agreed, the clutch plate & the pressure plate was changed. No replacement on Flywheel or the Release bearing. Changed the engine oil to synthetic.

After the new clutch here are my observations.

1. When i start the car, the car shakes heavily than before - is it normal?

2. RPM Idles at 750 - i can feel a mild shake inside the cabin at idle, its easily visible that the center mirror shakes slightly, i can feel the vibration on foot and under the hood the engine shakes a bit more i feel - again is it a normal behavior or am i thinking too much to pin point issues

3. At idle, When i switch on the AC or accelerate and when RPM touches 800 there are no shaking or vibrartions at all - should anything needs to be done for idle RPM

4. After engaging first gear, there s a mild jerk before i accelerate. This happens once a while and it was never happend before with the old clutch - should i wait for clutch running in?

5. Overall i feel the car is bit sluggish to reach the speeds, i use to reach earlier. Tyre air pressure, wheel alignment, balancing are normal. Gear shifts feel bit notchy and no change in clutch pedal, feels the same it used to be - again should i wait for clutch runnin in?

Till then mileage reported 24kmpl, with 90% AC on and not revving more than 2K RPM.

I feel i have invited trouble by agreeing with MASS, to open the Factory fitted Transmission just for a minor jerk and vibration. Experts please help.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz: Technical Issues and Solutions

Hi and sorry for the late response. The fuel pump has been replaced in my car as well and the noise has subsided considerably but it's still there. What I understood that Maruti is not ready to acknowledge the issue. They are replacing the pumps as an when a customer is complaining but not doing a recall. I would suggest u to follow the 30 sec rule and see if there are any changes. Before u start the engine to you will see all the lights on the dashboard coming up, the fuel pump runs for 30 sec's at this time and then stops automatically, start the engine after the fuel pump cuts off. Also write to Maruti Suzuki and keep everyone who is an owner or potential owner informed about this issue, so we can kind to force maruti to do a recall for all the cars.

Hi Tarun,
Let me reply point to point.
1. fuel efficiency- The maruti ciaz is very efficient due to the SHVS hybrid system.
But mileage depends on other factors also like driving style, traffic etc.
2. space does matter to my family members (full size 5 members in my family)- Ciaz is definitely more spacious than the City. The ride quality is also much better in the Ciaz.
3. Less Maintenance- No need to even say which one is low on maintenance.
4. Don't bother about the power - Ciaz diesel has adequate power and torque for city and highway use. But It wont come first in drag races[lol]
Another major point is that variant to variant the Ciaz is much cheaper than Honda City equivalents.

Thanks Carma for point wise reply. appreciated.

I am planning to buy ZDI+ varient not RS, on road price Rs. 11,56,000 in my city Vadodara.
Today visited both the Nexa showrooms but no one has any information about the launch date of facelift ciaz, they are sure it will come to Nexa but when they don't know. Internet rumors says it will come in April 17 but not confirm news.
Let's pray to God that it will come soon.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz: Technical Issues and Solutions

Hi tarun as you mentioned regarding maintenance , I suggest you to buy VDI+ instead of ZDI+. It has also sufficient features. I have got Yokohama(earth) tyres on the steel rims after that noise is less and run is comfortable.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz: Technical Issues and Solutions

Thanks for the suggestion. I would go with zdi+ because of infotainment system with navigation and 16" company fitted alloy wheel (I had bad experience with after market alloy wheel in my manza), I guess VDI+ having normal 15" wheel, when I will buy I am also change my tyres, I would go with the Bridgestone, I have fitted the same in my car which is absolutely perfect for Indian road.

News for all probable ciaz buyers, came to know from the MSIL official person that all ciaz facelifted model name might be change and good news is it will come with the 1.6 litre diesel (s-cross) engine with other cosmetic change. Main thing I am hoping is company fitted HID kit which is fitted in baleno top model.
Hope for the best !!!
