Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz: Technical Issues and Solutions

Although quite satisfied with my maruti ciaz but call me paranoid, but my AC blower is quite loud, when I start the car with AC on there is a noticeable grunt sound of the AC fan as it starts, also the vibrations of the fan running can be felt inside a closed cabin.
The fans are made of plastic I am assuming to reduce weight. But it increases the NVH inside the cabin I think.
Haven't cross checked it with other ciaz's
Please do Advice.
Thanks again and really happy to be part of this group

suspension rubbers to be changed by MSA. Cost 60Rs Only if your car is under warranty [;)]

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz: Technical Issues and Solutions

Hello Friends
This is my first ever post in this forum . My dad uses a Ciaz ZXI+ for his daily commute which is chauffer driven . I had/have few issues with the car which I would like to bring to your notice.
Car was bought in September 2016.
1. noise from the front, it was harsh thud thud type-MASS replaced the suspension bush and it is fine as of now
2. Bluetooth connectivity issue- takes some time to connect and use. Even if the connection is fast sometimes, playing songs/call takes time. Did not try with an android device yet. Found this with Iphone. Also the infotainment feels sluggish at times.
3. The steering does not self centre at lower speeds-40/50kmph, had this issue raised with MASS and I was told this is common. Not satisfied with the answer, I shot an e-mail to maruti and the RM responded saying they will have this addressed. I had sent my car to MASS yesterday and got the same response that this is normal for CIAZ. Even they asked our driver to drive a brand new CIAZ and he felt the same issue with the car. As I am out of city I could not drive and told the RM that the ticket would not be closed until I'm satisfied.
Owners, please confirm if this a general issue with CIAZ as I don't find this with any of our other cars (elite i20,figo,mobilio) . Thanks

Concisely, it is normal. This has to do with the setup of the Electronic Power Steering, which typically uses an assist motor on the steering column. In most vehicles, this motor is setup to provide high assist at low speeds, providing decreasing assistance as you accelerate. As a result, the wheel may not completely self-center at low speeds under neutral balance (no throttle).

Thank you Viru . This brings some relief. I have read many horror stories on the internet regarding the CIAZ steering, for few the issue was acknowledged by MASS and the entire EPS unit was replaced.

I fail to understand what made you to drive the car for 30~40km after knowing that radiator is damaged and coolant leaked?

No confusion at all, your mistake is going to cost you something and the intensity / magnitude depends on your luck.

As per my understanding this case won't be completely covered under insurance as well (Insurance covers only the direct damage, bumper, radiator, etc and not the consequence)

What they are likely referring to is the engine block head and head gasket. As the names suggest, these refer to the upper metal section of the engine block and the gasket used to seal it to the lower section(s), respectively.

Having driven the car for that long without coolant would have caused the engine to heat soak. This expansion/cooling of the metal can often warp and damage the components mentioned as they are less rigid than the central block. Depending on the block design, this can sometimes excessively strain the thermostat.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz: Technical Issues and Solutions

Recently my ciaz got hit by a dog and due to my negligence i drive my car with overheated engine near abt 40-50KM. and MASS replaced thermostat valve and deliver the car to me but after that i noticed a slight decrease in average. previously i am getting 24-25KMPL and now its 19.8KMPL. Please suggest me what happened to my car ?

2. My Service is also due should i go with synthetic oil or sem-synthetic ?

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz: Technical Issues and Solutions

Hi, This is my first post to the forum and I am looking for some advise. I have recently taken delivery of my Ciaz Alpha petrol (Nexa Blue stargaze), and have run this for ~450 kms which includes a drive on the Mumbai Pune expressway.
I did feel a couple of issues with the vehicle:
1. The steering does'nt self center! Having read through the forum, I understand that this is a known issue, in some cases MASS don't acknowledge and in some they acknowledge and replace the EPS unit. Does this actually help, understanding that this is how the EPS unit is manufactured and installed. I would need to push the service center accordingly!
2. The steering gets hard very soon, so on speeds of 40-50 kmph, the steering is considerably hard. I have driven multiple times on Mumbai Pune expressway, however, this time I got a niggle in my shoulder because of the steering. Is this also a common issue?
3. The steering goes uncomfortably soft as you approach 120+ kph. It off a sudden it loses grip and doesn't look any confident

Should I be worried for these. Any advise / recommendation?

1 and 2 seem to be a result of the EPS setup across the board. 1 was discussed earlier, but 2 is because the EPS is designed to turn off assist beyond a certain speed. If it'll make you more comfortable, badger the dealer for an in-warranty replacement, but I wouldn't hope for anything non-placebo.

Is there a lot of luggage/weight in the vehicle when 3 occurs? Do you have a spoiler? It sounds like the front wheels are being unloaded, which could be due to a lot of mass near the rear, or aerodynamics.

1&2. Component sharing across so many models results in such type of issues.

3. On newly laid highway roads that symptom arises.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz: Technical Issues and Solutions

Thanks Viru and Suryaputhra,

1. I don't have a spoiler installed, two passengers and absolutely no load on rear seat or boot. The highway is also pretty old. I used to feel the same on my i10 at 140+ through (so may be the highway). I will try this on a different road. Not many which let you push pedal beyond 120 though!
2. I can push the dealer for replacement of the steering assembly, however, I am concerned that if nothing changes, I will have a factory fitted assembly open without any gain, hence, looking if someone has already got this done and seen significant changes.

Read that this is a common issue with Ciaz?

Thanks.
