Re: Suzuki's New Premium Hatchback Baleno Now Launched!

That's the way AC works. Cooling is better in manual mode compared to Auto Mode.

When you step inside the car which is parked in Sun, 1st thing to do is to roll down all windows to let heat out (I hope everyone knows this), then if you're not in hurry, spend 2 minutes by revving the engine in Neutral at around 2k-2.5k rpms.
Like I said, I do that

Prefer to set AC to lowest temperature and select fan speed according to your liking.
It doesnt cool if you do that. You have to first set 24-25 Deg C an once you start feeling the cool air coming in, you drop the temperature progressively.

But last week, on two occassions, it didnt even cool this way. On the first, I was commuting to office at about 10am and was standing in traffic. I had already driven 5-6km by then with the aircon ON and had received some cooling by then. As the signal released, I noticed that the fan was at almost full speed and the aircon was not cooling at all. Switched off the aircon and then back On again and it started cooling
Second time, as I left the food plaza heading uphill towards Pune, it wasnt cooling. I had to switch the aircon On and Off several times. Each time I switched off the aircon, there was a significant bump up in engine traction. Finally, it began cooling once I cleared the ghats and was on level roads again

Car goes to service tomorrow.

Prefer to set AC to lowest temperature and select fan speed according to your liking. Select Recirculation and Face 'Only' Mode. Doing this will cool cabin quickly.

After that, you can drive away.

I do the same steps I have mentioned above in any car, any day. Frankly I don't use Auto mode, I find it useless although many use them. It's thier convenience.

Selecting Auto Mode does few things.
1. Increase in fan speed at fixed temperature (23-24 deg)
2. As soon as temperature knob is altered, fan speed drops accordingly.
3. Sometimes, it automatically switches to fresh air mode which will affect cooling compared to recirculation mode which aids cooling.

Try once and see if you feel any difference.
Correct, practically manual mode works better then auto ac. Technically I am not sure which works better however it takes less time in cooling from keeping temp on "LO" mode.

Re: Suzuki's New Premium Hatchback Baleno Now Launched!

Hello friends,
Owning the Baleno has been quite a lovely experience since the last 2.5 months. The car has clocked 3100 kms till date. Recently had been on a 1400 km week long trip to himachal. Driving it on the hills was a learning experience for sure. This is my first car hence i am a new driver so the hills weren't easy to tackle, however the 1.2 K series petrol motor is a breeze on the hills, with 5 medium sized adults, and 2 kids, the car never felt strained even with the AC on. The hairpin bends of the hamirpur, bilaspur roads were a revelation. The fuel efficiency has been a healthy 15kmpl on the hills. On NH71(jhajjar- rohtak- panipat) highway the car touched 140kmph many times, could easily go beyond that but i had cold feet. Nevertheless at those speeds the car feels stable but very light. However i would like to share an instance when i saw a couple of speedbreakers on the highway, i was doing a good 110kmph then, i slammed onto the brakes, could hear the screeching of the tires but the ABS light didn't come ON...!! Not only that the car didn't even stop completely, infact it had come down to 30kph and it jumped over the breaker, and i controlled it with ease. It seems the infamous spongy brakes of maruti suzuki are to be blamed for this. But the ABS not coming ON got me sceptical. Have any of you felt the ABS kick in...?

Overall fuel efficiency for this trip was 17.5 kmpl which is decent considering AC was On always, and was mostly driven in triple digit speeds.

Car is back from the ASC on Monday. They told me the aircon is OK after heat soak and that the car takes time to cool which is normal. I was not there for the testing but my driver reported that they had used some machine to test. I was told cutoff was at 6.8Deg C and start of cooling at 8Deg C grille air temperature.
More than the aircon, I feel there has been corner cutting on cabin heat insulation. Yesterday, I was travelling somewhere in the back seat and even at 22 Deg setting, I was sweating in the back, mostly because the vents were not oriented properly and the big front seats block the air a lot. As I got out, I noticed that the door plastic panel was also hot. I think that the heat gets soaked into the structure and as you start the aircon, the heat actually travels into the cabin causing the delay in the cooling.
I work in the HVAC industry and I have access to some of the best EPDM insulation available. I was wondering whether I should have the roof and the inner door panels insulated along the same lines as with door damping. This will reduce the gain a lot. The insulation in closed cell, so it does not absorb water or age

@Ameyam you are right, poor insulation, wrong placement and design of front ac vents and lack of back ac vents all together toll on ac comfort. Maruti should learn to make premium cars.

Re: Suzuki's New Premium Hatchback Baleno Now Launched!

Hello Guys,

Got call from RM, my ray blue delta petrol baleno has reached the dealership. I have done the PDI. In process of registration. I am expecting delivery by next week.

I had a very bad experience with NEXA banner pune guys, they are a bunch of unprofessional people. They talk like goons (paise de nahi toh bahut bura hojayega)[surprise]. At one instance they even went to the extent of calling and scolding my wife, when she enquired about the status of the vehicle a month back. I have purchased a TATA product 3 years back and releationship with them is still cordial. This was my first Maruti.

Nevertheless world is filled with worthless people, I am happy to finally get my car after 5 months of waiting. I booked on 13th december.

I hope the car does not disappoint me like the sales office. [:)]

Re: Suzuki's New Premium Hatchback Baleno Now Launched!

Test drove the Baleno Zeta 1.3 yesterday
My observations
Good
1. Car is a looker, looked like a European designed Maruti, somewhat mixed up with the newer Nissans design philosophy specially the front
2. Interior too looks good, black interiors are really nice
3. Front seats are good and back seats aer spacious
4. Good ergonomics of buttons, knobs, positioning of indicator stalks etc
5. Infotainment system is useful on the go
6. Nice outward visibility
7. Short throw gearbox has nice ratios better than what Swift has so easier to stay in power band
8. short clutch travel and its light in action
9. Good mid range power, between 2000-3500 rpm the car has enough get up and GO, felt stronger than SWift
10. Nice ride quality between 10-100 kmph
11. Value for money pricing and mileage wise too good value

The bad
1. Interior plastic quality is nothing to write about, its no way near as good as Polo,i20 Elite
2. Built quality felt weak,
3. Stock audio quality sucks for a premium car
4. Steering has absolutely no feel, its a dead steering at speeds excess of 100, no way close to Polo, but on par with Elite i20 and even Jazz felt had a bit more feel some steering
5. High speed stability is fine till 100 kmph, post this there is a wobbly feeling, its accentuated by the steering and the car feels it is going to take of from ground at high speeds, specially 120+ speeds
6. Huge turbo lag below 1800 rpm,
7. Slow speed ride is awesome but any speed post 100 it has a tendency to see saw, thankfully the 16" wheels help it a lot, higher yet the ride cannot be told as a high point at highers speeds, it isnt composed as Polo,Jazz but somehow felt better than i20 Elite, Jazz has a slightly stiffer setup that helps it a lot at highways speeds, Baleno is a mixed bag, anyway for most Indian situations its fine but definitely its not a match to Jazz,Polo
8. Handing is average, it has good turn in and dives into corners because of light front end but then the lack of steering feel disappoints a lot, the big tires do the job of gripping well, its any day better than Elite i20 and I would say on par with Jazz despite having softer setup, but still far cry from VW Polo
9. Back seat recline and contouring dosent give comfort like in Elite i20, but better than Polo,Jazz
10. Brakes felt better than SWifts, a little grabby to my liking initially but then its ABS is messed up, it dosent lock up but makes car yaw a little bit, not at all a confident braking machine

Overall I dont think Baleno deserves a premium badge, it is not at all a premium car in any way, its best said as a SWift face lift, so its definitely a betetr buy than SWift but still is in no way a match to mighty VW Polo and even Elite i20, both of which can proudly have the name premium hatch

Good effort by Maruti, still a long long way to go to be a premium car

Superb alloys Bro.loved it to the core, some how the liquid flow design of baleno does not suit some kinds of alloys available in the market.

colour is individual choice but I think baleno is looks better in ray blue.
one problem with this colour is that it becomes dusty fast .
I also booked ray blue after many suspension between ray blue and granite gray.
both colour are good...

Re: Suzuki's New Premium Hatchback Baleno Now Launched!

Today a strange thing happened. Drove the car for 3 kms and parked outside in the sun and went to the bank and came out after 10 minutes. As i put the key in and turned on the ignition the car made a strange noise as if trying to crank but isn't starting... tried once more by pressing the clutch with full force but the same thing happened. Finally saw that the Engine check and oil pressure lights/indicators were on. Switched off and took out the key and again inserted it back and waited for 10 seconds. After that when i cranked the engine made sure no lights were on, the engine cranked up as usual, drove 10 kms after that no problems as such. Is it something to worry about?

Please get your coolant level checked. Also ask them to check if coolant flow is blocked in someway.

Nothing to worry about, Its just less than three cycle malfunction of MAP and IAT sensor. Some of Suzuki models got that issues.
