Re: Suzuki's New Premium Hatchback Baleno Now Launched!

Yup, European Baleno has the same weight as Indian version and scores 3 star rating for safety, i.e adult protection 80%, Child 73%. I think the car is not the safest but it is structurally stable unlike the Indian version Grand I10, Swift, Dzire etc.

Then Baleno is a better choice than Swift or Dzire.
Even the standard equipment model which scored 3 stars has 6 airbags. In India we don't get it even as option. I agree with you, that at least the structure seems to be intact (from the videos) unlike the Grand i10 and the likes.

I wonder what could be the reason for maruti suzuki not providing rear airbags and rear ac vents as present in the models meant for export purposes. Why the indian customer has always to lag behind other countries. They might introduce it here in 2nd generation baleno then why have they introduced it earlier for the export models.Even segment competitor i20 was quick to add dual airbags as standard with the coming threats from baleno. Moreover they are busy exporting 70% of baleno production and the rest for india having waiting periods of upto 10 months.Met my RM recently and he said he is going to quit the job and look for something else as now going to office means abusals from customers only who have booked since dec 2015.Needless to say the showroom manager has already resigned from NEXA last december.I wonder what strategy is maruti suzuki actually implementing.

I wonder what level of stupidity are the car buyers in India showing (no offence to some TAIGers) in waiting for an ordinary performing hatchback for 10 months.
There is such a variety of cars in the price band from 6 lac to 10 lac and almost all of them are good enough for a typical 5 year ownership.
We are back to the days of "booking" a general Telephone for months/years[frustration] or what ??

The Baleno is definitely the most VFM Hatchback with premium features, some of which aren't even available in the competition. Maybe Maruti didn't anticipate such a huge response. It could be that their capacity is constrained because of this. Also, the Supreme Court activism on diesel has created a negative aura for diesel vehicles. Maybe they allocated more capacity for diesel in the initial planning but have more petrol bookings now. There could be many reasons. Let's give the nation's favourite automobile manufacturer, a fair chance to fulfil our orders.

Maybe what you are saying is true but how would you justify the absence of airbags and just a rear ac vent(not a separate compressor ofcourse) getting absent n the indian trims. How much would that have effected the overall pricing. If people can afford to pay for a premium class, they deserve a premium sense of ownership irrespective of country and market. But here things are different. They shoud name the trims as baleno for india, baleno for japan and so on and not actually only baleno.Baleno is fuel effecient partly because of its body weight where i20 fails being 220kgs heavier which again is hard and sturdier and hence a bit more safer than baleno.Instead of that heavy steel, lighter steel packaged with uv glass and some other common features are sold with a premium tag. Moreover Nexa experience is not unknown to all.So far still so good. But why is this discrimination for buyers of different markets under the same 'PREMIUM' tag? I20 quickly added dual airbags as standard then why couldnt maruti suzuki produce the same equally competent product for across the markets.

I think Ray Blue is a nice colour and will not look out of place even after 5 years

My preferences in order

1) Dark grey
2) ray Blue
3) Silver
4) White

I do not like other colours!

Urban Blue, Autumn Orange, Red are the left colors. And I like these much then the above ones. Though I like Grey too.

Question to Baleno Owners,

My cousin is looking to replace his 2011 Maruti Ritz and I have suggested him Baleno, Jazz, Polo.

He liked all 3, but chose Baleno due to fact that he already owns a Maruti. Then he decided to go for the recently Introduced 1.2 Zeta AT. Here comes series of problems

1. Insane waiting Period
2. No confirmed delivery dates
3. Zeta comes with Auto Headlamps, but can the Projector ones on Alpha be fitted ?
4. Those headlights look different compared to normal ones on Zeta.
5. He is open to both Petrol & Diesel

He has chosen Automatic for convenience. I wish Maruti offered Automatic in Alpha trim instead of Zeta. I do see it coming but it'll take time. I too also liked Baleno much, but waiting period is loosing interest in me.

What's the problem with Maruti ?
1. Production Constraints ?
2. Priority to other cars ?
3. Not enough kits supplied form vendors in time ?

Urban blue, red & orange metallic dont make up of too many deliveries. My locality has a red, grey, rb, white & my silver. My take is white requires frequent dusting but is the easiest to patch. Silver colour match just isint available. Red looks good in the showroom but not on road. Grey looks nice but you will see any dust. I would actually suggest to go white. Thats what i would do given a second chance

Regarding projectors, they actually produce a lower illumination than plain headlamps. Yellow light travels further. Other than looks, projectors dont help much. I am also not much of a fan of touch screens in the Indian context. The zeta is just sufficient for our use

Cvt is not the best option in traffic. If a gap opens & you put the accelerator down, nothing happens. If the idea is to get less frequent gear changes, ask him to try out the diesel

Re: Suzuki's New Premium Hatchback Baleno Now Launched!

Last month i made a highway trip covering around 980 kms. Unfortunately when i was trying to overtake a vehicle front right wheel struct with a big solid sharp stone. unexpected that big stone on a highway. im very sure wheel rolled over that stone. but didnt find any significant change in the driving of remaining 780 kms. but after the trip i found a small cut on the tyre on the right side. Not sure any damage done at the bottom of the tyre. Do i need to take any necessary steps now? Please suggest.

About the driving experience. car is very stable even at 155 kms. yes maximum i tried so far is 155kms. mileage is 21.4 during the entire trip. i own alpha petrol rayblue.
