Congratulation man, Nice car.
Where did you get Baleno body cover? In Bangalore dealer is costing 2590 for Body cover [frustration]
That body cover i bought from nexa gurgaon. Actually there are 2 body covers available with nexa, i check out both of them. The one you are talking about is the one manufactured by DuPont, hence costlier, whereas the one i bought isn't as good as the Dupont one but much better than what i have seen in the market. I have checked out the whole accessory market but nowhere did i get a body cover with wing mirror pockets and antenna pockets designed specifically for baleno. All dealers suggested me that i should get a cover stitched according to my needs. Hence i had no option but to buy it from nexa. However this is quite good as compared to the Universal body covers available in the market.

I have done 2.5k+

The gear shifts arent as sorted as the swift. There is a notch in the throw. I told this to MS and had them drive it. He told me that this is because the syncronised doesn't get a perfect gear alignment.
That resistance in the door is there but i didnt find it excessive. Still, you can get the door hinges greased at the ASC

Just wanting to share my experience with the car today

I left at 9.30 for a 10am meeting, so I was running late. The drive was mostly highway with a average speed of over 50kmph. I was in a hurry anyway, so i was carving up the road without taking any risks. Max speed 100kmph on the Eastern Express highway here, in Mumbai. I got there in about 15 minutes (a distance of 25km or so) including slowing down at several points as I was looking to pick someone up. In all this aggressive driving, the MID showed 19.8Kmpl.

Inspite of my initial issues, I thing the car has settled down now.
Initial bounciness in the rear / stiff drive has gone away
The gear box still feels rough in the shifts, not as soft and smooth as the Swift's but there is nothing out of the ordinary
Some jerks while releasing clutch
No noticable drift from a straight line. Atleast I wasnt really paying attention because I was focused with driving around the sleepy morning drivers

Ameyam

I compeletely agree to you, and can vouch for it. The first day when the car was driven home on the NH8 after delivery, the MID showed 18.4 Kmpl, but as the car was extensively driven for the next couple of days for another 400 kms, (90% on Highways and AC always ON, Speed did not exceed the 80KMPH limit) the MID showed 20.4 kmpl. I was awestruck. Then checked it tankfull to tankfull and concluded that it is delivering more than 19.5kmpl. What else can one expect. Now that it is being driven in moderate city traffic with red light stop and go, MID still shows 18.9 Kmpl.

Nice to know that the initial niggles of your Baleno have been sorted now. Now you can relax and enjoy the drive! How much have you clocked so far?

By the way, I also feel that the shifts are not slick enough, though the gates are well-defined (much better than Swift 1.2) and throws are short.

EDIT - In my car, when the front doors are opened, they require literally a lot of pressure/push to get past Stage 1 (out of 3 stages). Is this same in your car also? Any workaround?

Yeah... true, i too noticed that the doors require a push stronger than other cars would need or may be its new, once the hinges and springs settle down i guess it will get easier. However what i find even more difficult is getting in and out of the Car, although not as difficult as in an alto, but for a 6 feet guy like me, it does get a little clumpsy and awkward to get in and out of the car. I grab the bend where the A pillar merges with the roof, to take some support to get out of the driver's seat.

Gears are notchy and the 3rd and R and mine. Doors need to be pulled with some power to shut. The jerks exist when shifting gears (maybe that is because of my driving style as i am a new driver). I have noticed some droplets dropping in my rear parcel tray from somewhere near the hatch door hinges maybe when i was washing the car. Need to check that again.

I've clocked 1600 km in my baleno and ride has got better than ever. It glides over pothholes and rough roads effortlessly now!

I don't have problem with 1st, but 5th takes getting used to, idk about R thoughR

Question to all:

What is "Lock" mechanism in rear door? It's made of plastic and slides left & right.

Are you talking about child lock? It is a mechanism for preventing kids from accidentally opening doors from manually inside. Slide it in the lock position, and you will not be able to unlock doors from inside. Slide it in unlock position and doors will function like the front ones.

Re: Suzuki's New Premium Hatchback Baleno Now Launched!

Completed my first service today at 1148 kms. The service was a breeze through the fields, the service advisor was very friendly and gave proper response to my queries and serviced the vehicle very well. I did raise the issue of the steering not returning after taking a U-Turn. He called an expert and took the car for a test drive along with me in the car and showed me that the steering did return to 50% of its origin position but there was a catch the speed of the car have to be more that 20 kmph, and the road has to be smooth. I did understand that why the steering wasn't returning to the original position while i was driving was because i am a new driver and take a turn in the 2nd gear with speeds below 20kmph. No wonder the steering wasn't returning to the original position. Rest all checks were made. Car was washed and wiped thoroughly inside out. Pretty decent job they did, and i didn't have to pay a single penny. :D

It seems Suzuki service does stand out from the crowd...

My first service also costed Rs. 0! [:D]

There was no issue to report but Maruti should have provided service option in NEXA facility as there were a lot of Alto/WagonR owners checking the car inside out during the service. In a seperate service location, this problem would have not existed. Also, there are no specialized seperate staff for working on NEXA cars. My brother (who got the service done) said that the more experienced old-time service men were working on NEXA cars and junior less-experienced ones were observing and learning the process.

Baleno sales declining month by month in Jan 2016 it is 7698 and in Feb 2016 it is 6888. It has declined from 10572 to 6888 in just three months. We need to see how it will perform in long run.

I am pretty sure that one reason for declining sales would be the ever-growing waiting period for Baleno. Customers seem to be moving away due to the long wait they may have to face (add to that, the un-premium NEXA experience at many places). Maruti didn't face this situation with Swift's waiting period as it was an icon of its time (especially around 2011-2012 times) and people didn't mind waiting for getting their hands on what was one of the most trendy cars on sale. Seems like this is not the case with Baleno as the brand is very new, plus exclusive to only those visiting NEXA showrooms. Baleno will definitely need some time to settle in and create a fan base and following for it, if Maruti wants people to blindly stick to it despite the waiting period.

With the upcoming Brezza launch, I am sure Maruti will come out as the top undisputed player of the market. Sorry for sounding like a Maruti fan, but that is the truth.

Nice observation Suryaputhra. [:)]

Re: Suzuki's New Premium Hatchback Baleno Now Launched!

I don't think the sales are actually declining. What has declined though is the number of vehicle dispatches from the factory to the dealer's which stands 6888 for February. The main reason for this is the exports of the car. The Baleno still has a huge waiting period. I think the number will climb to 10000 in a couple of months once the initial batch of exports is done.
Or at least this is what I think [lol]
I have booked one last week and the waiting period given is 6 months. I don't mind as I don't really need a car urgently. If there is any news of the BalenoRS or the Tata Bolt Sport by then, I will consider going for them.

Re: Suzuki's New Premium Hatchback Baleno Now Launched!

I thought because of the Baleno, the sales of the Swift will be cannibalized. But in actual scenario it is not happening. what are the reasons,1. long waiting period 2. no nexa available in tier 2 cities. postives to swift 1. May be swift did not lose its cult image. 2. still looks something different 3. Better handling, dynamics and good pick-up over the baleno. if not all these why a customer would go for a swift over the Baleno?
