Ice_wise, from my Swift experience, in a new car, the comfort in the rear seat comes by trial and error with tyre pressures. When I moved form the Wagon R to the Swift, the first time my mom sat in the rear seat, she complained that the car was hammering away on the road as compared to the well used Waggie. I was using 33 psi in the rear as per the manual. We didn't know what the issue was but one weekend, we notice the car really running soft. Same time when we checked the pressure, it was down to 31psi. So we began experimenting with tyre pressures. We found that 31-32 psi in the front and 30-31 psi in the back gives the best ride in terms of comfort though the sprightliness of the car reduces.
If you use the car mostly alone or if the car is new, the suspension has not softened up, you will get a harder ride at speeds. So I suggest you drop the tyre pressure by 1 or 2 psi (I think 27psi or so) for long runs. In any case, if you do a long drive, I notice that tyre pressures are going up on their own.
Unlike the Xcent and the i20 which have bucket seats, the Baleno has flat bench in the rear. There is less comfort on long runs but its much easier to get in and out, especially if you have back problems like me or are a pensioner. In that regard, the Delta is actually comfier than the Zeta and Alpha because of the lack of bucket seats in the front
Another issue with bucket seats is that they don't support the lower back lumbar region. In actuality, its the lumbar vertebra that require support for comfort. Once those are supported, the upper back doesn't need that much support. In my case, since I use a frame belt, that isint too critical but it is for my parents. Some thing I did in the Swift for comfort is to keep a set of neck and square back pillows in the car. When you start feeling uncomfortable, put the pillow behind your lower back and waist as per your comfort. On my last trip down from Pune, inspite of the very rough ride in the Swift, my dad tried this and was snoring away in the back. For the pensioners, sitting slightly knees up actually helps circulation in the feet, so you don't end up stiff in long runs
Hi guys, here is the baleno service manual part no 9950068K3P0-74E. Costs about Rs. 2000 plus, you can order it any maruti distributor for genuine spares.
