Finding rattles is tough. On my Switf, there was a rattle coming on the very first evening. I went under the car in the parking to check and surmised it was coming from some exhaust pipework rubbing on the chassis. I took it to the ASC on the next day and were at it for several hours. Finally they realised that the rattle was the cable of the reverse camera rubbing on some body work. Cable tightened, never happened again
Usually, MS interior panels on new cars dont rattle. The fact that my armrest and the door pad at the elbow area is creaking is surprising. I will be taking the car to the ASC shortly for these issues

Rattles .. Rattles.. Rattles.

These are the things that are running in my mind off late when ever I board the car.
Recently I was able to get rid of the annoying rattle with the help of ASS.

And now I can hear rattle somewhere near the glove box / Center Console / Front Cabin light. Not sure from where the rattle is coming from [frustration]. And Yes, I have emptied the glove box completely to check.

Need to get is checked again at the ASS.

And one more issue that I see these days is,

The rear cam is getting turned on even when I am going forward [roll]
Informed ASC and they updated the player fostware to 7.40 from 7.20.

The issue seems to have vanished for now (Touch Wood). Will have to wait and watch.

Hi All,
I have received my Baleno Delta (diesel) couple of days back and the car looks great as expected. Had a question regarding fog lamps. I have got the fog lamps installed at the Nexa itself. But I am not able to switch on them. Tried pressing the button beside the Parking sensor which has a symbol similar to fog lamp but that seems to be for tail light.

How do I switch on the fog lamps ? Is there any specific combination

I guess for higher variants there is a provision on the lever attached to steering wheel.

Hi all,
I've been following this forum from quite some days and I've booked baleno alpha petrol red yesterday.. My real worry is about the steering wheel not returning to the center after taking a U turn, in this advanced technology era can't it be addressed at any service center? :O

Hi, I've voiced this issue myself & took it up with the service manager at Rana Motors workshop.
He stated that, compared to my prev car , a Maruti Esteem, the self cetering of the Baleno is not so pronounced & according to him, the castor angle is non adjustable in this car.
I've noticed that the Baleno self centres a bit if you take the turn @ 25kmps minimum; but you have to manually complete the final bit of the move to the centre; it won't snap to the centre all on its own.
One does get used to it, tho.

Hey Everyone

Just signed up here. This one is really a nice thread.

Well, just like you guys i'm also a proud owner of Baleno and it is almost an years and 2 months old now, done around 23k Kms.

Technically it's been good so far, but there are 2 major things which have been unresolved so far.

1) The rattling sound from rear left corner and somewhere around glove box.
2) The bouncy ride for passengers in rear. One of my friend even asked to get the rear shock absorbers changed.

Also, the RPM stays in the range of 500-600 in neutral when the AC is off. I guess it should be around 800-900 something, and 1100 with AC on. Is it normal or should i get it checked on priority?

Pradeepkumartl and kamal_h,

To be frank, i never noticed that rhe car doesnt centre after a turn. i now have 17000km+ on her. You will more likely notice that you have to keep making small corrections in a straight high speed drive. All of this is mostly to do with the castor angle but is nothing to fret about

Hello All,

It's been oven a year and I got 1st paid service done at 15000 kms.
Had a trip from Pune to Aurangabad(Ajanta/Ellora) which was around 800 kms overall. It was all good but a couple of weeks later car started giving some issue while accelerating at 2nd gear. For any reason if you slow down to less than 10 kmps and then if you accelerate in 2nd gear itself, car shudders/vibrates from front to back. It appears it is power less, specially when there is an elevation(meager 5/10 degrees [assump.]) or an elevation with turns. I am forced to downshift to 1. The moment I hit more than 10 it works as usual. And at times even 1st seems to have a lag in power.
Rest of the shifts work fine.
Got it checked at the Maruti ASC. The guy drove it for couple of kms. and said it is difficult to identify the issue with this much ride but I am making some adjustments in clutch. This did not fix the issue rather fuel economy got dropped.
Not sure what could be the issue. Any insight?

Good to know point -
A few months back somebody raised the issue about 3 beeps while locking. When I brought the car back from service center I found the same issue. Couldn't figure out what could be the issue. Later realized they did not closed the bonnet properly. It is back to one beep on lock.

Thanks!

Regarding the zeta seat, there is a depression in the lumbar area. This is true for all models, not just zeta. Its there to allow the seat to fold but in the driving position, it means the vertebrae near the lower back waist area are not supported. I have a slipped disc so i have this issue too. Its easily resolved by keeping a small neck pillow there.

Regarding suspension not returning to neutral, thats due to insufficient castor. Its in the suspension geometry and common to all Baleno models. Its not that big a deal but you do feel it when driving in lanes at slow speeds. Also, it has another effect at speeeds over 80kmph- you have to keep correcting to maintain a straight line.

Regarding the issue of judder in 2nd, its tough to confirm this. However, it could be because the Baleno idles at a very low rpm. So if you have let go of the accelerator, the rpm drops and then pressing accelerator causes judder due to insufficient power. You can do two things- try to give more accelerator and you can try driving on one fan speed higher than auto. Full synthetic engine oil also make engine smoother

So, I went to the ASC yesterday for the noises and the bumpy ride issue, this is what they figured out:

1. Front shocker mounts were loose.
2. The door beading needs regular lubrication or it'll dry and start making noises. They put some dashboard polish all over it.
3. One of the dickey bolt was free.
4. Rear seats were making noise as they got loose, they put some black tape over the seat lock holder.
5. Last but not the least, he told me that all four shockers of my baleno need replacement. Though it will be done under warranty but nobody is sure when. He mentioned the same thing to another customer also when i was there and told me that there are already more than 10 cases have come to their centre. According to him, current shockers will be replaced and the improved shockers which are in Baleno RS will be installed.

I think we should register this issue with Maruti so that they could act faster on this.

I have this wierd case wherein when I park and pull the handbrake, there is a creaking sound that comes from the back suspension whilst alighting. You know, like the groan that comes from some old train springs? Anyone can tell me what this is?

By the way, even my car has that tape on the rear seat locks, now I know what it is.
