We tried pulling higher revs in 1st. The only thing that happens is a jerk as soon as you let go of the accelerator to change. I found changing inti 2nd gives better acceleration.

From my experience in the Swift, the K&n filter adds 5 to 10% on the accelerator. In the Swift, if i stopped at a signal, i always was the 1st to go when it changed. Thats when driving with a light foot. The fact is that the lack of acceleration we feel is due to tuning the engine for better FE.

By the way, do you also hear the juddering of the clutch on the front passenger side behind the firewall. I am hearing a rattle everytime whilst declutching. You can hear the transmission rattle when driving in lower gears

I complained to MS and they had a look at 3rd service. They returned the car with replacement rear shocks. Since then its much better
I later found out the the replacement and old shocks have the same part number. Since MS assigns that number, even the ASC couldn't tell me it there was a difference in the old and new ones. So i am not exactly sure whether MS have changed the part or if i just got a defective one

How we'll come to know the Part number.?my New car Shocks were butter smooth till 1st 1K odo, but after 1st service its giving bump like anything, i checked tyre pressure, it was 27 Rear and 28 in front, i made it 28psi in each Tyre, that to with 2-3 co passengers in rear seat was a horrible experience driving over the Concrete patch or Pot holes, it was give harsh Thud sound exactly like my old 65K+ old Alto suspension, i complained my service adviser ,he told me to get the car to Service center to check with Deflating it completely and inflate it again. I don't till what extent it'll help the issue,
They don't change the Suspension right ,during service,?(As may be the latest batch of Baleno's Suspensions are less Stiff compare to the older one, Don't know exactly)
And one more query, is it in Baleno ,steering wont come back to the normal position(to the Cente) after turning, like other cars do.?

They dont usually change the suspension. But mine was a long standing complaint and I tried a lot of things, including suspension inserts, to get things right. All my attempts were logged at the ASC each time I complained of the issues. In August, I had a long and very technical discussion with the MS sales head (it helps having specialised in automobile engg). Then they agreed to look into it at third service. At third service in September, they changed the shock and the car has been smooth since. It still jars on the really steep potholes but most daily driving is just fine.

Like I said, I learned later on that this could be specific to my car because a lot of guys who got their cars post June are also reporting the issue. So it not clear whether they have changed the part or its a batch issue or what else

Regarding the steering issue, I found more of a steering centering issue than a return issue. I found that at higher speeds, the steering wouldnt centre and car would gently pull to one side and then the other. However, just after 3rd service, I had the car steering aligned from outside reliable shop and since then I have stopped noticing the issue. Dont know and dont think that MS replaced anything in the steering. May be it was a misalignment issue all along

Quick question. Has anyone used a stock replacement K&N Filter in the baleno? I have booked a baleno recently and might consider one of those. I have driven my swift for 5 years with a CAI, and always loved it. In fact, driven calmly, she gave me higher mileage.

K&N provides both higher mileage as well as acceleration. Unfortunately, the replacement cartridge filter is still not available for the Baleno. You are joining the long list of people waiting for that. Not even the US website has this filter
Alternatively, you can use a universal filter but I am not too comfortable with that

It’s the first hit on my Baleno after a run of 10K Km recently. A rushing bike was negotiating a passage where there was hardly any space to get into, so the bike lost control and had hit my Baleno. How I wish that those little rowdy two-wheelers should have a bit of common sense to drive sedately. Took the car to MASS and they quoted me Rs 20k for rear bumper, taillight and rear quarter panel. Out of which I will have to shell out 1300. Now the question is that the surveyor is insisting me to get the rear quarter panel dented and painted. His point is that if I weld a new panel , it will weaken the body structure. However the MASS is insisting on the new panel. So my questions are..

1) Will a new welded rear quarter panel compromise the structural integrity of the car. If not, even I am happy to pay the cost of the new panel.
2) How close a MASS can match the OEM color chips.
3) My last year insurance premium was Rs 26000 and this year I paid Rs 15000 with Rs 1750 as NCB. Is it wise to claim insurance in this case.
4) MASS is telling that Zero Depreciation claim can happen two times in a year and after that it would convert into a normal claim. Is that true?

A query- how lond does a typical headlight bulb last? The xtremevision bulbs on my car are now more than 2 years old and i was noticing the light levels had dropped recently. This evening, one of the bulbs no longer works in low beam. High beam is still available from it. Initially i thought its a ground disconnection but it doesnt look like that is the case

Check with once www.bumper.com in Bangalore, heard they are really cheap. I don't think it'll cost you that much.
I feel paint quality of Baleno is very poor, very easily prone for scratches. That too Bumper paints are very thin I feel. And those Alloy wheels also got scratching while turning near small Concrete piller. I feel old cars, even scratching with keys also never left single scratch.

On the Philips product page, life span of an XV bulb is mentioned as 450 hours. If you use the bulbs for an hour every day, it will last you more than an year. So, I guess 2 years is a good time if you have used them considerably.

PS. My stock bulbs last more than 3-4 years of moderate use, so I am actually surprised to hear this (450 hr life span) for a comparatively expensive product.

Regards,
Alpha

It was a blown bulb.

The stock bulbs do last longer. FOR Philips XV, assuming 1 hour of driving every evening, the bulbs have probably done twice their rated life. I do, however, switch off the bulb at signals or when stopped as a matter of practice

I am going to need to buy 2 new bulbs because the luminosity of a new and used bulb isint going to match. However, I am wondering whether this is the right time to upgrade to the LED bulbs I keep hearing of on the Baleno owners Group on FB

So, any reviews about bumper.com
I went through their website. They don't allow customers to their garage. Now that's strange

Ok. Getting my oil changed at 15k km. Mostly because the engine is acting quite lethargic. Thing is, MGO oil is castrol semi synthetic, not full synthetic. The stuff they put in at 3rd service is also semi synthetic (servo) and i wasnt really too happy with the way the engine is going since. Discussing this with the SA, he basically said that if i change oil outside warranty will not be honoured. he is also not willing to put in synthetic oil. So what should i do- take a chance with a good oil, say mobil 0w20 synthetic or stick with the castrol stuff?
