Guys, i have one query- do you feel jerks accelerating in 2nd gear? Case in point, i was driving in traffic and it was moving but had not stopped. So i had my foot off the accelerator and then the car in front moved on. So i pressed the accelerator and the car jerked 4-5 times whilst in gear with a frequency of 3/4th second. I hadnt touched the clutch. This happens a lot in traffic. This also happens while releasing clutch and it happens only in 1st and 2nd gear. In fact, whilst going over those pre-made rubber breakers, sometimes you need to go down into 1st and the car will jerk by default when you press the accelerator subsequently . This only can be avoided by using 2nd but this overloads the engine and it rudders
Is this a parts issue or with my particular car? i mean, is it because the engine is tuned for better economy- this is known to create flat spots and jerky power delivery? I have shown it to Sai Service but, true to form, they never admit anything is wrong. My 3rd service is due next week

Are you owning the diesel or petrol. I own a diesel and I also faced the same ( while releasing the clutch only)initially. Checked with MASS and they suggested to shift gear in bit high RPM than recommended. Followed that and I never had the problem again.

HI Ameyam, I am using 2nd almost everytime even in B2B traffic, no jerks, only when its Standstill and in upward direction I put it into 1st and move forward otherwise 2nd does the job well. I find the jerkiness reduced a lot after my 2nd service. get it checked at ASC.

Auto is a good option, I too keep it that way. Whether it is correct or not, depends on your usage. If you feel light is not enough then check if your get an upgrade to better bulbs.

For the headlights, use 50w Philips xtremevision bulbs. Preferably, you should install a relay kit also as it gives a more regulated voltage to rhe bulbs producing better illumination.

Pls do not use nail polish to fix scratches. Though you may get a colour match, it will make any future repair difficult. Most scratches are only in the paint cleat cote, so polishing removes them. If necessary, you can use a colour match pen from com paint. Deeper scratches and dents should only be addressed if the metal is exposed. if not, just live with them

Now new version available it is called Philips extreme vision plus with 130% more light, they are standard 55/60W so relay kit not required, By using relay kit, connected to battery directly bypassing original wiring, bulbs will draw more power from battery and you feel they are brighter but downside is your alternator should work hard to replenish the battery and you are losing fuel economy too. I have vastly discussed on this topic on my previous posts.

Now a days UV curable clear-coat sprays available, you can try in market.

The new bulb is news to me. Thanks for the info.

The Baleno's alternator has sufficient power to keep up to the current draw by the bulbs. The relay kit does help deliver more illumination though. The thing is, the xrtemevision bulbs burn hotter, so a relay kit with ceramic holders helps better lamp illumination.

In any case, the user must switch off the headlights when stopped- whether parked or at signals. This allows the housings to cool down and the battery to charge a bit more. And lets face it, most of us do the "to" drive in daylight and the "back" drive at night

Separately, I was driving on the highway within Mumbai (Eastern Expressway) today with aircon off because the display was showing just 55km range when I started. By the time I was done, the MID was showing 17kmpl and 100+ km range[:D]

1. Bulbs will not run hotter they are normal 55/60W I am using in my Dzire without relay kit. They draw 12A regulated power without relay kit.

2. Installing relay kits will cause ground loops and unwanted current return paths in the circuit, chassis and current is not regulated. This setup called unregulated linear power draw.

3. Most of the cars burned due to aftermarket wiring kits with improper ground connection without proper knowledge.

Ok. So i have been using the same relay kit for two years now. Assuming that means no issues then?

Actually it depends on your electrician. The one who does mine is quite good. We had him work on my Swift also previously

The mirror housing is plastic. Forget about it
The wheel arch damage needs to be checked first hand. Usually, this type is paint transfer from another vehicle. If so, it will polish off
The door sill is more serious but unless there is damage underneath, its just bent sheet metal. It cant be fixed easily, so leave it
