Re: Maruti 800: Technical Issues and Solutions

Any ideas what might be the reason for the coolant to leak after driving on a hot summers day?

Check the compression ratio, how many kms has your car run.

Try cleaning the carburetor, it might solve the issue. Have you changed the air filter ?
Do you feel the low pickup even while driving in petrol ?

LPG cannot provide the same power as petrol would do. LPG kits need to be adjusted by an experienced installer/technician. It's a tricky business.

To verify if it's really the kit or the engine that's the cause, try to run the car in petrol for a while. See how the car behaves.

In general, there can be various reasons for low pick-up:
1. Worn out clutch (engine revs, but there won't be a proportional increase in speed)
2. Clogged air filter (you would find it hard to rev the engine)
3. Wrongly adjusted carburetor jet (affects the idling as well)
4. Badly tuned LPG kit (difficult to rev beyond a point, erratic idling)
5. Ageing engine - heads, gaskets, pistons etc would need attention. A compression test is in order, if your car has clocked upwards of 70k km.

I had been using an LPG kit for a long time and got rid of it last year, after I ended up with a costly engine rebuild.

Varun, it's called Compression Test.
Sorry forgot to mention..

I notice it when I park the car and a puddle of green fluid accumulates beneath the car on the car near the front tyres

Check for any hose which is leaking or check the radiator for the leak.

87000 km my car ran & yes on petrol also pick up very low. yes air filter is repaired now.. only the nut was loose and mechanic did it well. and 1 more problem yesterday occurred that is when my mechanic was working on air filter he shake air filter so the whole engine and other parts was shaking. he did it 2-3 times than he said (I didn't remember the part name) because his pronunciation (as most mechanic's) was very bad so I didn't get it right. that starts from P . 2 rod type something that holds the whole engine and other parts near front suspensions

It is called as engine bedding.. get them changed ASAP, it is the main thing which holds the engine on the chassis.

Did you get the carburetor cleaned ? If not get it cleaned, pickup will increase..

Engine bedding costs you around 700-800 rs. And labour charges depends on the mechanic.

And for dim lights upgrade to 100/90 bulbs with wiring kit and relay. It costs you 1k. Before this check the alternator if it is working fine.
Do you mean doors ? Check for the joints, check if the rim is weak so that even if balancing done it does not come back to shape just replace the rim.

Re: Maruti 800: Technical Issues and Solutions

thank you for the right cost. labour is not an issue. issue is that some time mechanics tells the cost of parts more than the original. like you told me that 700-800 Rupees. may be mechanic will tell 1500-1600 . some time they cheat customer. if we say I will buy the part and you do you work only so they says you don't have the right information about parts which part or which company's part is good for vehicle that's why I asked you. thank you so much for the right information [:)]

and my cousin don't have real brother so I do her every work related to her car & all outside works. yes alternator is changed.yes doors are making sound while driving (khatar patar type) and whenever it crosses speed breaker a sound come from inside the meter. it vibrates & shakes badly. and yes sir her car's RIM are not in shape and tyre's also old.
