Check for any sensors failure. Have you got the car tested through scan gauge at MASS ?
It may be due to faulty wiring too, as the A/C turns on it sends a signal to ECM which increases the idle RPM, may be in your case its not working.
Yes Varun, there was later a major issue. The car engine would turn off along with the headlights going very dim and all other electrical equipments failing like horn etc. Hence MASS guys said the alternator and the wiring needs to be checked as the battery was not charging. Its fixed and looks fine though did not take any long drives yet. I ll be doing a 550Km trip this weekend. Will update once I am back. Thanks.

Varun i'm talking about Rotor inside the distributor! Is there any way to know whether timing best is okay without opening its side cover?
No it wont rotate, as the timing belt is cut/ removed. Try with the timing gun, it would make it perfect.

May it was the alternator which was not supplying the power which the electrical accessories needed. Did they replace the alternator ? Or just got it repaired ?

Try to check the clutch cable near the pedal and near the gearbox, a wire may be supported on the clutch cable and make a short circuit because of wearing of the plastic cover, I had a problem like this a time ago with the throttle pedal..

it's not an specific wire, just one could be on a wrong site and do a short circuit.. it may be the positive wire near the battery, or a sensor wire near the pedal.. For me it was a wire from the big conector near the throttle pedal doing a short circuit against the throttle cable.. but it's not a wire that is on that place originally.. it may be left on that place in a previous mod..

I have seen this rubber thing (noise suppressor) in my car. But it does come with the wiring kit. What kind of noise are you hearing inside the cabin.

SS80 - as you changed the wiring kit, does the noise suppressor come with it, please post a pic..

I bought the Minda Wiring kit & it did not come with anything other than wires, connectors, fusebox, fuses, fuseboc cover, rubber part for the hole in the firewall. What is this Noise suppressor by the way?

Re: Maruti 800: Technical Issues and Solutions

Hello all,

I have a problem with my maruti 800 and I am not able to figure out what to do.
I recently changed my battery as I was not able to get ignition and was hearing only a click 'sound' on turning the key.

The ignition is fine after the battery change but something strange happened. The other day I was revving the engine for a minute of two and while idling the engine died out and it refused to start even after multiple attempts. Fearing that the battery will lose charge i stopped trying. After an hour I tried again and this time the engine started at first go. I did not take the car out thinking that it might stop abruptly on the road somewhere.

Planning to take it to a mechanic and i thought of taking an opinion on the forums as to what could be the fault.

Any ideas??

Thanks

Re: Maruti 800: Technical Issues and Solutions

Check the coolant level in your car(overflow tank and radiator). If that is proper then it could be a problem with the starter motor.

Go to the place where you purchased the new battery from.Ask them to check the output from the alternator. Is the alternator supplying enough current to keep all your electricals running(lights/Ac/stereo) and charge the battery.

If that is fine then go to an auto electrical shop and ask them to service your starter motor.

If not get both the alternator and starter motor serviced.

1.Water logging in right leg room( rainy seasons only)

This may be due to a leak from the front windshield rubber beading or through the antenna hole. The suspected area to look for is the roof gutter channel at the windshield beading end. Pour some water over that area & check. For sealing use Anabond 666T.

2.Rust forming in front suspension holder( "its located under the bonnet" i am poor in automobile knowledge)

Its known as suspension tower (strut). A common problem with 800s. If its a surface rust, get the rust removed & a layer of primer & paint applied on that area to prevent further damage.
3. some times my car is acting like hell when its moving in first gear

4. is the heater is a factory install or we have to install a aftermarket thing.

Excluding the 5 speed ones, 800s never came with heater from the factory IIRC.

5. lost the central locking remote long back and the device removed the device can we install same one back or what.

For peace of mind install a new security system, don't compromise on this.
Nice to have another 800 owner here. Have replied to your queries with my answers in bold.
