Mahindra compact SUV to get upmarket cabin and AMT.
Mahindra’s Ecosport rival, the S101/102 will also with a three-passenger front rowWhile the slightly bigger Mahindra U-301 is expected to get a more stylish and upmarket cabin layout, the smaller S101/102 is expected to get a more youthful cabin. The Mahindra S-101/102’s interior gets a single binnacle instrument cluster, with two rectangular AC vents that sit on top of the centre console. There are multiple buttons that look like multimedia controls, with space for a small screen too. Under this are three HVAC switches positioned vertically.



Interestingly, the S-101/102 gets a benchseat, with a dash-mounted gear lever to maybe accommodate a third passenger in the front row. It’s similar to the front seat arrangement on the Datsun Go, though centre passenger legroom is expected to be more generous here. Still, the comfort and safety of such an arrangement remains to be seen. What the spy pics also confirm, is that it will get an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) gearbox apart from the standard manual transmission.

Looks like the baby xuv is all set to launch. If its priced right, then S101 will be new sensation. Hope they do load it with safety features which they always do!

After completing the Hyundai Plant visit when we head back to Pondicherry, we spotted Mahindra Bolerio and Tata Kite Test Mule. We Followed Bolerio for more than 100Kms. The Interesting part was once we saw the Kite.

Saw a camouflaged hatchback on one of the tollgate. Then we overtook the hatchback took the shots.

If the below pic confirm as Kite, then this hatchback was fitted with Automatic Transmission. The lever is mounted with dashboard (like a Datsun Go, but not exactly). Next to the lever AC controls. Hopefully the Front seat can accommodate 1+2.

The ICE is taken from Bolt / Zest. The steering is also taken from Bolt / Zest.

Mahindra's compact CUV ( Crossover) will be named like the XUV , Probably XUV3OO or CUV3OO or TUV3OO? - Launch speculated to be in August 2015.

This is a compact SUV under 4 metres of length and it can seat five people. The S101 will be manufactured at Mahindra’s new Chakan plant along with the next-generation Bolero. The pre-production pilot testing will commence soon and it will be sometime in July that Mahindra will be ready to manufacture the S101 at its Chakan plant.

There is a rumour that the new Bolero could also be named on the same lines and this could be the TUV300, a larger size Bolero is also in the plans and it could be called as TUV500, there is no confirmed news for the same.

Mahindra will be having seven more launches this year, other than the S101 and U301 (next-generation Bolero).

The S101 is built for urban customers and the new Bolero will be for rural use. The S101 should get LEDs integrated into the headlamps and will be a smaller version of the XUV5OO, with design as its key USP.

So guys, with the engines confirmed, you can guess what will be the size of this car!

Confirmed news from one of our sources that the Mahindra S101 will be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol and 1.2-litre diesel engine options

Mahindra will be entering a new compact segment with the S101, which will be christened as XUV100 or CUV100 . The S101 will be somewhat the size of a Grand i10, however with a raised ground clearance.

The S101’s 1.2-litre diesel engine, will be a new three-cylinder that will be derived from the 1.6-litre diesel engine, that powers the Ssangyong Tivoli. This 1.2-litre diesel engine will churn out 80bhp of power and will be made available with a five-speed manual and automated manual transmission. Mahindra and Ssangyong have developed three new diesel engines and three petrol engines.

1 cylinder chopped off from the Tivoli motor. That is interesting. May be that unit is a bit lighter and more refined than the 1.5 l engine used in the Quanto. May be the Quanto unit will be provided as an option.

Mahindra's Cross over (XUV 300?) spied in near production form. Will take on Ford;s EcoSport when launched. Expect a festive season launch - Sept./Oct.

Built on a new monocoque platform, interiors of Mahindra S101 SUV will sport best in class equipment that includes a new infotainment system, automatic air conditioning, multifunction steering wheel and safety features that include a total of four air bags, ABS, EBD and ESP. Interior space will be at a premium in a 3+3 configuration, despite the fact that it is a compact FWD SUV.

Mahindra S101 Mini SUV Spied Up Close, seems with production ready body panels and lights.

The exterior of the sub-4 metre car has its dimensions comparable to its primary rival, the Ford EcoSport.

The S101 is one of the most important products for the company as it will cater to the fast growing sub-4 metre compact crossover segment. The company’s second crossover (after XUV500) would debut brand new power plants. The volume spinner would be a 1.2-litre three-cylinder diesel engine while a new petrol engine with an identical displacement is also expected to be in the offing

A 5-speed manual gearbox would be the standard transmission while there is an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) as well.

In terms of equipment, the top-end variant is expected to offer dual airbags, ABS with EBD, alloy wheels, foglights, a touchscreen multimedia infotainment system and so on. Apart from taking on the fellow compact crossovers, the S101 will also attempt to lure the prospective premium hatchback buys with its promise of higher seat height and better road presence.

Taking cues from Chevrolet's Beat, Mahindra's upcoming SI01, gets door handle on C-pillar.

Falling in the sub-4 metre category, the S101 will be priced very competitively and will try to attract B-segment hatchback buyers

I have spotted a Mahindra's upcoming compact SUV on koyambedu juncture while driving from Vadapalani towards Annanagar. I tried to get the closeup and front view of it but unfortunately i couldn't.

The S101 will be branded as Mahindra XUV100. A website by the name "www.mahindraxuv100.com" has already been registered to Mahindra’s office in Mahindra Towers, Worli, Mumbai, further suggesting that this is indeed the name of the product.

Another confused look - Hatch or Crossover ?



Apart from the new 1.2-liter engine, S101 is expected to feature this 1.5L mHawk80 diesel that debuted with the TUV3OO, maybe in a little-detuned state.

Expect it to feature AMT gearbox with the engine options.
