Re: Number of Problems in Mahindra Scorpio
Folks, I've been facing a couple of problems with my SLE.
1st: The other day when I started my Scorpio, I tried adjusting the ORVMs, but they were not responding, all four power windows weren't responding, and the A/C and Fan blower weren't switching on. However, the head unit and speakers were very much working. I happened to be close to Mahindra's workshop in Okhla and hence promptly went there. Had a word with their SA, and he merely locked the car and then unlocked it using the remote, and all electricals came to life. He said, the car loses its memory and if it happens again, just repeat the same procedure of locking and unlocking. It has happened twice again, but what exactly is this peculiar problem?
2nd: Like I'd mentioned a few months ago, my front windows went kaput and were replaced under warranty. And now, the rear windows have become problematic and has it's own mood, works only at times. Hope to get this replaced under warranty too.
Also, a suggestion to folks owning Mahindra vehicles; do get you extended warranty. My Scorpio's gets expired in Oct'2012 and planning to get it done during my next visit to the workshop, next month.
RCA done:
1.) All the electrical devices in the car used to stop working. Problem diagnosed by myself only, the workshop guys weren't able to diagnose it and gave random answers like what already has been mentioned, "Car losing out its memory".
So the problem lies with the ignition lock. When I crank the ignition, the key should come back to its ideal location, right. In my case, the key used to get stuck midway, and everything stopped working. Now, I just need to pull it a little bi towards myself so that it comes in its ideal position. Have conveyed the same to the workshop manager, and he says he will get the whole lock set changed during the next service, FOC under warranty.
2.) Rear power window assembly to be changed during next service as well. I'm expecting easily a day without my Scorpio.
3.) A word of appreciation to my sales advisor Punkit Chopra at Koncept Mahindra, Safdarjung, New Delhi. When I bought my Scorpio, I got the standard warranty of 2 years. A week later, Mahindra came out with an offer of free 3rd year warranty. And I thought only if I would have waited for a week more.
And now, I recently spoke with Punkit sharing with him the problems not being diagnosed aptly by the workshop guys and what would happen if I don't go for the extended warranty, he was like, " Sir, don't worry, you do have your 3rd year warranty on it". And I started arguing that I don't and the offer came in after a week of my car's delivery. I was SURPRISED to know that he got the 3rd year warranty registered in my car's name without me having the need to request him for the same. Appreciate his assistance.
A new problem now though. The car has run 20,000 Km. Running fine, enjoying every bit of it until I brake. Not that they aren't working fine, but the brakes have started making noise, squeals, and makes me feel the car is in pain. What could have gone wrong? The same used to happen before the last service. The mechanic said, he used emery to scrap of the rust. There was no noise for the next couple of weeks but its a regular now, whenever I'm coasting or driving slow.
Hope it gets good attention the next I go for my car's service. And I'm expecting a big bill receipt this time. Mahindra ain't not cheap to maintain.
