Re: Number of Problems in Mahindra Scorpio

Hey Pradeep can you be more specific on how exactly it happened.
Was there signs of resistance from the car or leakage from underneath.

Re: Number of Problems in Mahindra Scorpio

Gurrala, Scorpio has made its reputation of being a best/stable vehicle in its segment.
I understand the trauma Pradeep might have gone through but you cannot be blaming the service and brand by one odd incident. M&M sales figures month on month shows its stability and acceptance in the market.
There could be many reasons why vehicle has broken down on the road. It could be as simple as fuse to a miss fire in the connection wires.
As the service vehicle could not identify the issue right away, there could be more than a simple solution to this problem.
As i was saying, while installing a music system or during through any add on's if standard wiring is disturbed, it take some time to find out the root cause.
Pradeep, please elaborate on the issue and the findings from M&M for us so that we can also understand Do's and Dont's.

My Dad was driving to church and the Scorpio suddenly stopped on the middle of the road. There were no signs nor symptoms. My Dad has been driving for the past 30+ years and he was really embarssed.

Anyway to cut the story short, accodirng to the service centre, the entire wiring kit (I don't know what it is) have to be replaced and that will take around 2 weeks.

The scoprio was delivered back to my home today. They have done the servicing and have told my Dad that they will contact us once the part is received in two week's time. Am yet to get an answer from the customer service team as to what exactly is wrong. BTW, they are very prompt in responding to customers. I will give them full marks for that.

According my Dad the "CHECK" light on the panel is continuosly flashing and he was reluctant to receive the car. Again the service personnel assured him that they have done temporary work to keep the vehicle running and once the kit is replaced the light would go away.

I'm coming to India next month and if not satisfied with the service, will raise it to the dealer and Mahindra directly[anger]. It's very unfortunate that I'm facing these issues with my Dream Car. Wish I listened to my brother and gone for a fortuner.

Re: Number of Problems in Mahindra Scorpio

So its the oxygen sensor failure, which causes some serious damage to the engine.
So tell your dad not to drive the vehicle, And do escalate the matter to customercare@mahindra.com

I have a few contacts who can help you out and get the problem solved at the ealiest.
Will share them with you soon.

Mean while our other member AmithPahuja had faced the same issue.

Re: Number of Problems in Mahindra Scorpio

Some more update on the Scorpio.

Apparently the flashing light is not the engine warning light. This was due to issues with the internal wiring fault that resulted in stopping scorpio on the middle of the road[sleep]. The WS has done a workaround until they receive a 'new KIT' that that will remedy the problem hence the scorpio is detecting an issue and flashes the 'CHECK' light intermittently. I presume this is not because of oxygen sensor failure. Anyway, I've told my Dad not to drive till the issue is sorted out.

On the rattling too, the scorpio is smooth on good roads but the problem starts when riding on average roads with potholes (which are common sighting near our place). Compared to other cars (i.e have driven fortuner, Estilo & Ikon on same roads) the rattling is obvious on Scorpio. Hope there is a cure for this too.

Will keep you posted on the developments in two weeks time. Till then have a good time and drive safely with seat belts on.

Re: Number of Problems in Mahindra Scorpio

I have a small issue with my arm rest. The passenger side is loose when compared to driver side and it makes some squeaking noise. I have got it tightened up multiple times but this looks like its coming after some time. My local Mechanic says the Nut has been worn out and so its slipping. Is there something i can do as a permanent fix?

Re: Number of Problems in Mahindra Scorpio

Hi all, Got confirmation the Area CS Manager in Bangalore that the 'Wiring Harness' have to be replaced and lights issue because of the temporary fix. He promised that he will ensure to speed up the process.

Despite the problems I had I must admit that Mahindra customer service is excellent. You get prompt response whenever you contact them. Truly world class! One seldom finds this with any other service provider.

Cheers.

Re: Number of Problems in Mahindra Scorpio

Pradeep, Did he give any clear picture as to why wiring harness has halted the running vehicle. I mean if there is short circuit, will the vehicle stop? Is this some safety measure?
Sorry for the ignorance but not able to issue and the cause.

reasons could be many right from rat bite to dog bite. I guess he can throw more light to the issue when he himself would see the harness.
