Re: Number of Problems in Mahindra Scorpio

Hi All, Finally the wiring harness has arrived and the kit would be installed on Friday. Will keep you posted once it's done.
Good to hear that, but how did this happen at the first place?

Ask for clarifications on what went wrong, and do take a extended warranty.

Nope not mine, mine is a Vlx variant.

There was no Sle variant during my purchase.

Re: Number of Problems in Mahindra Scorpio

Just need a few pointers to let me know if there is a problem.

When my scorpio is at idle, on at neutral when clutch is depressed i hear a click sound.

Some tak like sound when going over humps over 40kmph.

Locking system. When unlocked some times it locks itself automatically.

Offlate car stalls when in the 2nd gear clutch is released from standstill.

will be going for my 2nd service soon so pointers would be welcome.

I haven't encountered such things till now.

You are doing more harm than good, from standstill why aren't you shifting from 1st gear.

Re: Number of Problems in Mahindra Scorpio

Not that i am trying it intentionally.
When bad roads come i slow down.
Most of the times i am in the second gear.
When speed goes low and i release the clutch it stalls sometimes not always.

what about the click sound when clutch is pressed at neutral?

May be adjusting the clutch play might solve this issue.

I had once faced the squeaky sound from clutch, they adjusted the play and the sound had gone.

Hello All, finally got the vehicle back[clap]

According to my Dad, it has become quite smooth after the service and fixing of wiring harness. Even the rattling noise has reduced but not gone completely (seats still dance on bad roads[frustration]). Will check it when I'm back in India next week. The Mahindra Area CSM for Bangalore & Mangalore Mr. Najeeb was a great help.

Thank you all for your help and suggestions. Thanks Mukesh for providing some contacts for escalations.

Will keep you posted.

Re: Number of Problems in Mahindra Scorpio

@ Mukesh - can you please rename this thread to something like this - "Problems and Solutions for Mahindra Scorpio" ?

1. In my earlier posts, I had complained of squealing noises coming from front disc brakes. Finally, during my 35k service, it was resolved by properly aligning the brakes and performing OCA brake service. Now a days, I don't get the noise at all.

Erstwhile SKS, Chrome and Anant do the OCA brake during every service. I don't know about IG and Sireesh. But they charge 900 for it [surprise]

2. For hard gear shift and vehicle shuddering during starting/stopping - do the following as suggested by Mukesh and other members:

  • Start/Stop the vehicle by depressing the clutch
  • After starting, engage all the gears one by one. Apply brake and make sure hand brake is also engaged.
  • Move the vehicle slowly using 1st gear only
  • When the vehicle is in stand still, do not stop it immediately. Idle it for 20-30 seconds and then stop.
The above steps will make sure your gear shifts are smooth and no shuddering of the vehicle.

Hi Folks,

The remote lock / auto lock does NOT recognize the rear door. When asked at the service centre, they affirmed it.

If you open the rear door and then lock the car using remote, the car will lock the remaining 4 doors and no chirping sound is given. But if one of the 4 doors is open and lock is attempted, chirping sound is given.

Same with Voice Activated System (VAS). If you drive the car with one of the 4 doors open, it warns with voice. But nothing like that for rear door.

I guess Mahindra has NOT installed door warning sensor for rear door [frustration]

Is there a way we can correct this at service centre or outside ?

Hi Gurus,

I recently purchased a M&M Scorpio, my first diesel vehicle. Its just a week and I find some issues some of which might be normal while the rest specific. Kindly help me understand the ones to ignore and not to:

1) Starting the engine, there is considerable vibration (shaking the entire vehicle).
2) When I run over small potholes at speeds around 40 Kmph, the steering wheel shakes (i never felt this even in my I20)
3) The steering wheel itself is very tight and if I take a U-turn, it turns back only half way while I need to put some effort to get the vehicle back to a straight line.

Please let me know if this is because the vehicle is new. I have run in now 250 Kms in 5 days.

Thanks in advance,

Hi Saravanan- Let me be the first to Welcome to TAI and welcome to the Scorpio hwak's world. Wishing your a lot of smiling miles.
Now coming to your questions.
1) Starting the engine, there is considerable vibration (shaking the entire vehicle).
A. Observer closely, Vibration is notices only till the Oil light is ON. after few secs engine and vehicle becomes normal. This is Normal. Nothing to worry.
2) When I run over small potholes at speeds around 40 Kmph, the steering wheel shakes (i never felt this even in my I20)
A. Check the Alignment of the wheels. Infact, just move the left tyre to right. This will solve the issue.
3) The steering wheel itself is very tight and if I take a U-turn, it turns back only half way while I need to put some effort to get the vehicle back to a straight line
A. This will be solved with two steps.
a. Check the Alignment of the wheels. Infact, just move the left tyre to right. This will solve the issue.
b. Go to the nearest SC and have them remove the air bubble in the power steering line/cable. If can wait, this can also be rectified in first service. M&M service center guys know about it. Just mention power steering is very hard.

Also, please share ownership review and pics of your ride.
