Re: Number of Problems in Mahindra Scorpio

One thing I do is to get the SA to note down all the visible scratches on the job card

After the service is over, I will run through my checklist and the job card to make sure that service folks haven't introduced any new issues. Hope this helps !

Hi sudharshang, I usually do that for the outer body but never thought that there would be something inside the bonnet on the engine part :(. Not sure what kind of check they have done there. Still have not got time to visit service center for clarification.

Re: Number of Problems in Mahindra Scorpio

Question to all Refresh and Pre-refresh owners:

How do we reduce the hard clutch depress of the vehicle? My left knee has started paining in the last 1 month or so.

Every time I bring up this issue, the SA says that it is common in all the scorpios. I don't buy that [frustration]

There should be some way to minimize or reduce the hard clutch play. Please help [cry]

Do visit SKS BG road , and report the issue to Manager Ramesh of SKS.

Clutch is not hard, they are fooling you.

My clutch is as smooth as petrol car, which used to be hard while being serviced at Sireesh.

They do some thing called Clutch bleeding, and clutch remains smooth.

Re: Number of Problems in Mahindra Scorpio

Thanks Mukesh. I will definitely bring this to their attention.

I forgot to mention this problem when the vehicle was serviced first time in SKS Hosur Road. I will also bring this up during tomorrow's 75 point free checkup camp @ SKS BG.

@mods: I don't know if this is OT here. If it is please, move it appropriately.

It is 1 year now and I have not received the Top Gear magazine subscriptions as promised at the time of delivery. Even the Extended Warranty (hard copy) was not sent to my contact address. Later, I got a soft copy from IG Sales Manager.

Is it ok to have the soft copy of Extended Warranty certificate?

In US, car manufacturers give a Warranty booklet that tells all the parts (with part nos) covered under warranty. I did not receive any such booklet at the time of delivery [anger]

Does Mahindra give one for Scorpio?

I have escalated these issues to M&M customer care.

Yes for Extended warranty a booklet is given, where in a Unique number is mentioned in the printout.
Make sure Chassis and engine number is correct in the print out.

The hard copy of print out must be affixed on the front page of extended warranty booklet.

There was no such offers of TG magazine.

While claiming in warranty they have never taken the booklet as they can get the details on their system as soon as they enter Car Regn Number.

Re: Number of Problems in Mahindra Scorpio

Please put up the breakup of costs if you happen to go in for the camp.

I am in two minds whether i should get it checked since it has only run 156 kms upto now and is sparkling clean
also if i get reverse parking sensors installed from outside will it void the warranty ?

Check up camp is FOC (Free of Cost).

I guess you need just an appointment before you go.

They will wash the car and give back, while checking all other problems if any.

Re: Number of Problems in Mahindra Scorpio

I used to think that Mahindra really makes cramped but reliable cars, but after reading this thread I now know that even mighty scorpio is subject to multiple problems.

When will our desi manufacturers tata/mahindra make trouble free, bullet proof reliable cars like toyota, when?

Buddy, every car from every manufacturer has its strengths and weaknesses.

But what is missing from Tata and Mahindra is their service quality. Whatever training they do give, do not get translated properly at the dealer level. Most of the dealers are to blame here [anger]

They always over commit and do not have enough resources (skilled manpower, infrastructure at their facilities etc)

I also heard that companies like Toyota & Honda give enough share of profit to dealers. You can see that their showrooms are world class, neat and have good customer centric facilities.

IMO, most of the profits from vehicle sales directly go to Indian car manufacturers like M&M, Tata etc. Dealers have lesser money to invest in better showrooms, service facilities and hire best technical people from the market.

But, Mahindra's customer care is getting better. Most of the issues are resolved after escalation. But dealers should resolve at their front rather than getting strict orders from manufacturer [frustration]

One day, I want to see homegrown companies like Tata & Mahindra out do their counterparts not only in sales, but also in service and value addition to customers.

Re: Number of Problems in Mahindra Scorpio

I have some weird experience with my Scorpio mHawk. Last week I went to ooty and visited Pykara Lake. We were around 7 people including 2 kids. On the way of return, I had to apply a brake when I was climbing a Hill top near Pykara Lake. What I observed was my car was not able to pull the steep in 2nd gear. But, I remember I was able to climb such steep with my santro easily in a 2nd gear. Was it anything wrong with the machine? Or anything would have gone wrong while servicing? I had a doubt earlier also because some scratches I could see in engine area and I posted this issue for some suggestions earlier. Please help.

@sudharshang

Very well said buddy.

@ rajscorpion

It could be because of you trying to climb that steep incline out of turbo range.Santro's engine is naturally aspirated so no worries about turbo range or not !

Re: Number of Problems in Mahindra Scorpio

@ rajscorpion : Whether in turbo range or not, a Scorpio's engine should be able to pull more than a Santro's engine.

Depends on how slow the SUV was & how you revved it...

Re: Number of Problems in Mahindra Scorpio

Hi raj_5004, I know that scorpio's engine is more powerful than Santro's engine. My driving habit has not been changed and the steep is very similar in both the cases. That was the reason I raised this question whether anything has been tampered in the engine during earlier service :( . If it has been done, how do I have to check and confirm that the engine has been tweaked by service people for some reason which I don't know.
