Re: Mahindra Scorpio Problems and Woes

My beast has done 17,000km in 7 months - 3 free services are over. All of them in India Garage, Victoria Road.

  1. One consistent issue I notice is, every time there is a rain in Bangalore/Hosur, the horn sound intensity comes down drastically. I tell this to the SA and they fix it in each service.
  2. The window switches in the central console near parking brake works and does not work sometimes [anger]
  3. I hear a "squealing" sound after applying brakes while descending. This started after the 3rd service. Any idea why only during descending?
  4. Every time I go over rough patches on road (hardly there is an even surface on Bangalore ), there is rattling sound inside the car. The SA told that the reason was the Roof Chiller that I had fit on the ceiling. I had asked them to tighten the screws but no use. I suspect the seats make lot of noise.
  5. Why there are lots of vibrations in Refresh models of Scorpio [frustration]? Mine is Feb 2011 model.
  6. One thing I noticed is many issues arise and they disappear out of nowhere by the time I report to SA. Somewhere I read about "self-heal" tech feature of Scorpios. I know it is crap but looks like it is "true"

Re: Mahindra Scorpio Problems and Woes

Thats a considerable mileage you have covered in such a short span of time.

1.I had those horn varying only during my Goa trips in rain, strange.
But during my trips to Jog falls in full rain it was normal.

2.Regarding power windows was it the front windows or rear one, as the rear one's has a lock switch so that kids don't open the windows, which if in lock mode doesn't opens the windows.

3.Have they done something called OCA brake & adjust, if not it should have been carried out.

4.The seats in my car have no squeaks thank god.
The cabin is silent.

5.Absolutely, touch wood there are no vibrations in my Hawk.

6.It happens with me too, when an issue happens the car behaves normal, where as with owner its notorious.

Re: Mahindra Scorpio Problems and Woes

Thanks for the pointers mukeshus. I am taking my vehicle to the service center to get the issues sorted out.

As asked by avindu in a different thread, which service center do you recommend based on your experience? - IG / Sireesh / SKS / Chrome

SKS has started a mini service center in Hosur but they don't have enough equipment and facilities.

How do I get the vibrations sorted out? What should I tell the SA to look at? Any parts to be changed/serviced?

I had been to Hosur road service centre for fixation of my hawk's ABS problem.
That service centre is a dedicated body repair shop.
I leave my vehicle @ SKS Auto Bannerghatta road.
Have a test drive with SA, and confirm the squeaks that are coming.
And let them fix it.

Chrome is still new. i don't want them to give my vehicle for research with their tools.[lol]

Re: Mahindra Scorpio Problems and Woes

mukesh, thanks for starting this thread.

As discussed earlier in this forum I had this issue in my scorpio that at a certain rpm there was high vibration, at around 1500 and 2100, the people in SKS tried hard to fix this issue but even after changing lot of parts things did not improve.

I stopped pursuing this issue as I did not want them to use my car for experimenting by changing every moving part. :) But the condition has improved quite a bit after the rubber bushes supporting the chassis were removed, cleaned and re fixed.

Moreover the CoTech says the scorpios make little vibrations when you are driving uphill, have any of you felt the same. You can identify the vibrations very well if you keeps few coins in the glove box.

I feel my gear lever is a little tight, do any of you have the same problem ? Its like while shifting from one gear to another it takes a little more effort.

Srinivas the cotech is giving you wrong info.
There is no vibrations what so ever.
Which cotech handled you, meet Pradeep(Cotech) there along with Service specialist Patil.
They will solve the problem in one go.
The car doesn't vibrates at all.
The gear shifting has been smooth once i got it serviced at SKS.
Speak to the manager Ramesh over there, he will guide you with Pradeep.
No the shifting is smooth.

Re: Mahindra Scorpio Problems and Woes

I have being giving for service to SKS only. I directly meet Ramesh before meeting my service adviser these days. I found Pradeep to be not much use, he was the one who told me that crap. most of the time he is on phone, I did not find him that great. From past few visits I am getting the vehicle checked by Chandru (very efficient guy), and my SA has been Ram since 1st service, he was on some personal leave on my last visit so some rookie had taken the responsibility.
Will get the vehicle fixed on my 25k service for the tight gears.

My Scorpio does not have even small vibrations at normal running (except the gear level vibrating), the vibrations used to be only around 1500 and 2100. and after 2100 it very smooth, even when I am driving at 120 or more the vibrations pretty decent.

what is Patil's first name ? I get my vehicle serviced either by Gopi or Giri, they are few of the senior once, also they are very hardworking.

Do any of you guys have the habit of being with the vehicle while it is getting serviced, discussing about the vehicle with the mechanic is working on your car ? I have this phobia, I cant leave my car alone. Every time I get my car serviced I have this argument with the floor manager, that I want to be on the service floor rather that the AC waiting rooms. This was same with my old car also.

Re: Mahindra Scorpio Problems and Woes

Srinivas, so did you mean gear lever vibration?
Yes its there in my car too, but not much.
After all they have changed some parts of my Hawk in Sireesh Auto, where a guy from Mumbai had came to handle my case, nothing much can be done on that, they changed some ring near gear lever, Once the shifting became smooth i didn't complain about that.
So when had you been to SKS?
Oh the same cotech.

I am handled by either Prasad or Puneeth.
The last SA i met was Shariff(New guy), when i had been there for headlight levelling.
Ram has been shifted to K.R.Puram dealership.

I guess its Basavraj patil.

Yes i make sure i visit there every half an hour, and stay in lounge.
When some of the parts are being replaced i will make my presence available near the car.
They will report to me on the parts they will be replacing , so before fixing it i will be near my vehicle.

Meet Sudhindra who handles the A.S.S. last time it was he who escorted me to the vehicle.

And during the last oil change what was the billing amount?
Was it for 7 litres or 6 litres you were billed?

Re: Solution of Problems in Mahindra Scorpio

The problem I mentioned is not because of the gear lever, true there is a small vibration on the gear stick, which is common of scorpio vehicles. The problem I was facing was that their was body vibration, like on the run board, the steering etc.

I tried test driving few scorpio's which had higher vibration than my car, so the vibrations are not very prominent until there are small items in the storage holes.

The problem is solved to a great extent by re-installing the support bushes for the chassis.

Hmm still i am not able to figure it out.
There is no vibrations what so ever.

The bushes were replaced in my hawk around 30,000 kms service interval.

Did they charge you for replacement of bushes?

Re: Solution of Problems in Mahindra Scorpio

When I told my SA about the overall vibrations in my scorpio, he asked me to TD some scorpios that came for service. I asked him whether it is a good thing to drive others' vehicles with out their permission. He said it is fine and when I drove for few minutes, I found that my car is much better than others. I believe my car also will be driven by somebody when it is left for service [glasses]

I isolated the sound coming inside the cabin - it is the Roof Chiller that I got it installed [anger]

But it is required for the last row and even middle row (ac vents are located near the foot)

Re: Solution of Problems in Mahindra Scorpio

To all Bangalore Scorpio owners,

Just wanted to share this piece of info...

M&M technicians/engineers are coming to IG Victoria Road on Nov 7th and 8th. You can get your issues/problems analyzed and rectified through them.

I think they will be visiting all the dealers time to time, just wanted to let all know.

Mods,

Please move this to appropriate thread if it is not applicable here
