Hi all,

While i was returning back from a trip to calicut to coimbatore, my scorpio brake pedal was too spongy and touched the floor while again pressing it for second time the pedal becomes firm and normal, again while pressing it for the third time it touched the floor. the brake bite was completely normal and it stopped the vehicle, but the brake pedal touches the floor for the first time when you press. I managed to reach home safely as it was less traffic and it happened just 30 kms before coimbatore. Here the mahindra service center guys are there to loot and dose't care about the quality servicing so was little worried to leave the vehicle to them to get the issue fixed. Folks can u tell me what could be the issue ? and according to that i am planning to leave the vehicle to any good reputed friendly garage in my city. Kindly drop in your suggestions please.
Hi,
There is a vacuum leak. You might want to check the Vacuum pipes/booster and the master cylinder on a priority basis. Dangerous condition to drive around.

Hi all ,

My scorpio mhawk 2009 has clocked 72000km ,i have a few concerns and would be highly obliged if u experts can solve them .

1) my pick up has reduced and the engine roar has increased ,when casually asked a local friend who has a garage recommended that i change the clutch plate as it was 72k kmm on stock clutch .will this help .
2) My tyres have worn out ,may run another 5-8k km but i would like to change as it feels uncomfortable
3) when ever the beast goes through potholes there are a lot of sounds as if the body bolts have given way ,will complete suspension overhaul solve this problem .What would the cost of a complete suspension over haul for a 2009 mhawk .

Requesting approximate cost for the above 3 .

Clutch with pressure plate and releasing bearing and labour
Suspension overhaull
Tyres which are recommended ,no upsize , which would be the best company ,I had a strong option on Yokahama ,a guy even suggested some new JK tyres for 6400 per tyres .

Hello Friends,

My Name is Madhu , I have a Scorpio 2007 Crde LX and its driven 59000 KM , I recently noticed some sound from the front , after the service .

The sound is like a sort of whistle sound in RPM range of 1200 to 1500 , Basically when I accelerate till 150 RPM and when the acceleration comes down I hear this sound ,

I also hear a different sound between clutch press and release ,

Sireesh auto checked Turbo , inter cooler, timing belt , power steering belt and found ok, then suspect the Flywheel bearing ,

I need help from the experts in the group before changing the flywheel bearing
also they said that the clutch is gone weak , so thinking to get the clutch plate also done once for all so that i save the labor cost
Is it necessary to also change Clutch Master and slave cylinder ?

Mahindra Scorpio Whisle sound

Dear All,

I am facing a Issue with my Mahindra scorpio (2007 CRDe 2.6 LX 59k driven) immediately after service
Here is details , Sireesh auto has done all kind of test but no luck , can any of you give some clue for this issue
1) I hear a sort of whistle sound from the front
2) It occurs around 1500 to 1800 RPM.
3) When we are de accelerating that is slowing down from higher RPM , I notice this sort of whistle sound coming from the front , (the sound disappears immediately when I press the clutch).
4) I am not sure if the sound appears while accelerating in stand still position.
5) The problem is reproducible easily

How do I reproduce this problem : Drive up to 2000 RPM now , when the vehicle is slowing down (no acceleration but clutch engaged) and when it reaches range of 1500 RPM I hear this sound (

I request Mahindra to consider this issue and help me sorting this out , I am sure it would benefit Both Sireesh and Mahindra , as it could give a valuable information which can be used as a lesson learnt / best practice to adapt during vehicle servicing.

Thanks
Madhu

Re: Mahindra Scorpio Whisle sound

I suggest you to take it a good mechanic outside and let him diagnose the issue. It could be anything from wornout bearing, pressure plates or release bearing or it could be a flywheel.

Hello All,

Thanks for your reply
I have got the Clutch , clutch cover , pressure plate , flywheel , Pilot bearing , Clutch release bearing , Slave cyliner changed yesterday
but still sound exist

The SA also checked all the hose pipes , turbo and confirmed all are fine

they also checked teh oil sump and oil pump and confirmed ok

1) my question is since it is at low RPM i think the turbo would have not yet kicked in

2) could it be a faulty air filter ?

4) any idea at what rpm would the turbo come in

If any of you are in bangalore can we please meet up ?

Thanks

Hello ALl,

Looks like the sound is coming from Oil sump
When accelerated in stand still I also get abnormal sound
I get a whisle / whining sound at 1200 to 1500 RPM , while driving , The sound disappears when I press clutch
Is it related to engine breather blocked ?

Hi Madhu,
The turbo usually kicks in at 1800 rpm till 2800 rpm.
Does the advent of Sound cause any deceleration or loss of pickup ?
If so it might be a faulty turbo pressure sensor and should be detected once the vehicle is connected to the Laptop via the ECU.
So if you have an OBD port, you can easily read the ECU faults or sensor errors on your cellphone and proceed accordingly .
Also Since you are in Bangalore you can Visit "Bay 6" Workshop and talk to Mr.Sajan. They really know what they are doing.
I have recently remapped my Scorpio from him. [evil]
You can give my reference Rohit from Kolkata.
Hope my few cents helped you. [frustration]

Hi Dr.

You will get approximate costs .

Also would like to suggest some small advise with respect to your problem.
1. Regarding reduction of your pick up :
Primary check the Engine Air Filter which was the main culprit for me many times.
If the filter checks out okay next do the turbo hose cleaning.
Then you can check up the Oil Filter and the Diesel Fuel Filter.
Condition of the Tensioner Belt.
Can go for Engine Decarbonization.
Please open up the clutch if Nothing Works out. Because it is a Big Job will cost more than 15k without the guarantee of a solution. and If your clutch is not sticky or smelly best not to open it up.

2. Regarding the noise while passing on potholes please ask them to retorque every bolts Underbody and grease as required, and you can do the suspension overhauling.

Yokohama H/T tyres are good reduces a lot of road noise and increases highway comfort.
Hope this Helps.

Dear Mr Rohit,

I would like to thank you for your help,

OBD Port and reading from mobile can you please give more information on this ?
I have not faced any loss of pick up and also if there was some error code I would expect the check engine light to appear so did not try connecting OBD , I will try that
The sound is coming from the oil sump
I wil visit Bay 6 shortly

Thanks Again for your help can you please share your email ID ?

Hi TAIgers,

Need your valuable inputs on Suspension Overhaul and Power Steering rack changes for my Scorpio Refresh 2011 model.

It has run 1,20,000 km and the service advisor in Chrome Motors, Anepalya, Bangalore has suggested the above two major tasks to be carried out. The steering is stable till 100 km/h. After that, the steering wheel starts wobbling. There are no unusual noises coming from anywhere.

Please see the attached Excel spreadsheet for the estimation.

1. Is the estimation correct ?
2. Can I get these 2 jobs done outside ASC ? My vehicle is out of warranty.
3. Can anyone suggest a good mechanic / garage in Bangalore, so I can get a second opinion ?

Couple of months back, I replaced all the 5 stock Bridgestone tyres. I noticed that both the Front tyres felt softer than the Rear. Is it normal ?

When I asked the SA, he said that since Front wheels bear the bulk of the vehicle's load, they are normal.

Hi Sudharshan,
I have been getting my hawk serviced at SK KARZONE (Bosch Service centre). Near Shoppers Stop (Bannerghatta road)
Let me know if you are interested. The cost would definitely come down.
