The Update after Visiting SK KARZONE NERUL and MR MANOJ KHANNA .

Reached at 10 am sharp and was greeted by Mr Harpeet followed by a test drive by his technician .
The Workshop was good with separate bays for individual cars and ramps for every bay .

After thorough inspection i was suggested to replace the Brake Booster steering column and Overhaul the suspension . but due to lack of time and a so want to take the scorp home the same day . they agreed which wa not expected as it wasnt a days work .

So the work starts and harpeet guided me to the office where the estimation ort was taken care off

Manoji arrived soon.. A great man i must say . I was interested in seeing his scorp which was unique as he said was gifted by mahindra and even at 150000kms on the odo the scorp was smooth and in tight condition . Got a chance to drive it too .

He suggested me to change the oil to synthetic and add an additive . But as the oil had just been changed 2000 kms back we chose to just add the additive . suggested Intercooler servicing which was never done earlier.

Manoj share a few of his experiences and his specialties like the polish coating that he does to the vehicles which is well known .

Front Suspension bushings and Ball joints were replaced ,Steering column was changed . Additive added . The time the scorp was ready was around 8pm .

I paid the bill which was around Rs 22000 including the Labor and spares .

Changes observed .

1) As predicted by Mr MAnoj - The additive worked very well and i could feel the smoothness post 5 to 10 kms of running .
2) Steering vibrations gone .
3) The Front suspension now felt Tighter
4) The Body to chassis bolts were removed greesed and retorqued .

Overall the experience was good .

Mr MAnoj suggested that i get the Rear Suspension work done on the next visit followed by
change of oil oild to synthetic which would bring a major change to the driving experience .

Thanks to Mr Manoj . i even received followup calls from Harpeet and Mr MAnoj the nxt day

Hi all..I have brought a new Scorpio s10 4wd and Upgraded it with 265/65R R17 tyres. Once I was travelling I hit a Bump so from that time when I go over any bad road a 'THUD THUD' noise arrises and the Service center couldn't solve my problem. Had argued many times bt they were nt able to solve it..what might be the problem..and it is here to mention that my all ends are okay

Check your roof rail and get it tightened . My Hawk even had that sound and vanished once the rail was tightedned

Like DrJviyala said, it's probably due to the roof rails but I suggest you have a quick check on all the fitments as a whole - seats, mounts in the engine bay and even wheel rims, just to be sure[:)]

Thanks for your advice. But the sound is coming from the steering itself. And the ends are fine but couldn't find the source.
Sorry, I don't get what you mean by 'ends' :stupid:
Did you check the suspension mounts thoroughly? If all else fails, get a reputed mechanic to check the steering assembly. BTW, are you really sure that it's from the steering? My neighbour once told that his Zen had a thud sound as deep as a subwoofer punch but in the end it turned out to be a loose wire in the roof panel whose sound was amplified to such an extent by the frame!

Hi, everyone. i am a proud owner of a new gen Scorpio S6+ for about a year or so, the experience has been great and is amazing despite seats vibration and squeaking front brakes. But since last week i have been noticing that when i brake at 60-70 kmph there is a vibration on the steering wheel, some sort of steering wheel shake which one can feel literally with your hands. the road which i drive is mostly bad roads with dust and slush all the time. My initial guess is damage to rotors due to mud and dust. but since i am not well informed with this matter any kind of information would be greatly appreciated.
Apart from that there is the never ending problem of my steering wheel and car inclining toward the right side even when the road is almost at level. In hilly roads the roads are inclined toward the culvert side but still i feel that there is a pull towards that side. Ive done alignment checks umpteen times , the mechanics says the alignment is all correct but still the slight pull is always there. is there any issue which is plaguing my car, if so please shed some light on it.

Yes.. Infact i had almost five or six repairs on both front tyres thou they were small repairs, to be precise puncture repairs. In most cases it was due to nails and pointed objects inside the tyre. Does that make the wheel shake.

yes, that could cause shake & steering vibration. it may be wise to rotate tyres with more punctures to the rear & install new tyres in the front.

also get the suspension checked for veering to right side & brake rotors checked for barking vibration.

Thank you for the advice bro. So along with tyre rotation to the rear also needs rebalancing rite?. Another note, ive never thought about suspension causing the right pull. Will do next time i visit a service centre. Btw is it advisable and safe to show ur vehicle to local garages other than authorised service centres.

One last thing i forgot, i had a constant rattle from the front right suspension housing when i clocked nearly 4k kms to the odo. When i went for the first servicing they identified the rattle as they said it was the link rod near the suspension that was loose thus causing that rattle. From that repair of link rod ive noticed the pull.

1. Rebalancing will be required.
2. I do not show vehicles to Local garages. The workmanship quality varies widely and they do not have training on latest models.
3. Link Rod huh. That Rings a bell. Older safaris used to have link rod problems giving more problems like you described. May be they over tightened the link rod or installed it incorrectly. Get it corrected it ASAP otherwise your tyres will wear out much faster and other problems will also creep up.

This thread starter by mukeshus mentions ….:”fellow members Scorpio (Hawk) Gang”….and since I run a 2004 Scorpio (from new, and loved every minute of it!) this may not be the right place to drop a post. But for lack of any other Scorpio thread (non-CRDe) I felt that it might be appropriate if I added a post about the recent repair carried out on our steed’s t/charger. The core unit (consisting of the bearing housing and the rotor shaft complete with the turbine & blower) has been replaced with a new one, the work having been carried out at the Holset turbocharger charger service centre.

The problem was detected incidentally while investigating an oil leak in the vicinity of the oil filter & t/charger. The air filter housing & trunking was removed to gain access to the t/charger’s blower end. The shaft play was easily detected by placing the fore finger on the end of the shaft and trying to jiggle it in a vertical plane (up & down). Having detected the damage the next step was to locate a reliable supplier for a spare core. And this is where the story becomes interesting. Scorpio spare parts dealers admitted to having spare cores ranging from Rs. 2500/- to Rs. 12000/- (from Chinese imports to “imported from Germany” items!).
Finally, I decided to get the work done at the authorized Holset service centre. The cost of the service (including cost of spare core, disassembly, cleaning and re-assembly of the t/charger with new core) came to Rs. 8900/-.

After the re-assembled t/charger was brought back to our FNG (who has been entrusted with treating most of our Scorpio’s ailments over the years), it was fitted & mounted back onto the engine. The service technician recommended I renew the air filter too, which I did. The removal & fitting back of the T/charger at the FNG came to Rs.1800/-, including the cost of the air filter.
This was two weeks ago and till date the engine performace has been satisfactory.
A few photos of the work done follows, to add weight to the old adage “one picture is worth a thousand words!”[:)]

Hello everyone, was busy for a while. Yes i did take it to the nearest service centre, did some rebalancing and alignment as they were saying the vibration is caused due to alignment issues. But the problem stayed even after aligning the wheels, then they proceeded to remove the wheel and checked the brakes as the vibration is there only under braking, upon inspection they found that the brake rotor has been degraded non uniformly, i mean a bump in the bottom slight curvy and they advised me to change the rotor and disc pads. Yes warped rotors causes vibrations under braking, still i am not properly convinced as the rotors to my viewing were not that warped, plus i have had some bad experiences with that service centre. BTW the rotors cost a bomb along with the brake pads. So i would like you guys to suggest me what should be done. Do the rotorjob or show it some better service centre.
Finally, how much does disc brakepads and rotors for new gen scorpio cost. The service centre guys were saying 5k for both wheels(four pads) and 6k for each rotor. Bosch pads are available for 1500 for a set(two pads for one wheel).

Take the rotors to any lathe (CNC) machines (Unofficial Service center) and ask them to skim the rotors to perfection. They'll remove the bumps & Curves.

Then visit the SVC saying you installed some other Used rotors and ask them to test on that.
