Johnny boy, Excellent Coverage man. Vibe indeed is not an eye catcher nor a bad design. Pricing makes competitive. Hope it attracts fleet operators more than regular customers. Rear is much inspired from FIGO. If they could have reworked the dash it will be more competitive. Mahindra is slowly but steadily reaching to smaller segments.

Great coverage JohnyBoy.
I don't know what were the designers of this car smoking when the came up with the idea of a sedan style boot-lid in a hatch. Of late some wierd looking cars are coming out of Mahindra stable first Xylo then Quanto and now Vibe. It is like Mr. Anand Mahindra has asked his engineers to launch a product in each and every segment and in order to meet the deadline they are coming up with something like this.
Anyway looks are subjective and everyone has a different view on looks. But, the positives of the car are space and proven 9K9 engine from Renault. We can now safely call 9K9 as the second largest workhorse in India after Fiat's MJD. Vibe will be a good choice for people looking for space in a hatch, direct competition will be (let me think) Vista maybe

Has the booking for Vibe already started?
Quite surprised to see:
- No full page advertisement of Vibe in today's daily
- No Major Facebook/Twitter activity on launch
- No mailer/spam mailing activity being done

All these are unlike Mahindra's created the initial buzz around XUV !! any specific reasons?

On the design totally agree. Something very strange with the design approach. Seems to be an half hearted attempt. For e.g. no adjustable steering - which we expect in any car now a days (atleast in the top model). And the boot lid will make sure that Taxi segment avoids the car even for city transport.
The engine has always been the saving grace and the design on the whole looks good but as you get closer there is not enough material to entice you.
When I first saw the pricing I thought that it would be a good competitor to Figo, but after a detailed look the Figo still seem much superior over all.

The most impractical boot ever, well better than Nano though.[confused]

Sometimes I feel at Mahindra, they lack common sense. Whats the use when you have a big boot (did someone say 330 ltrs) and then have a boot lid from which you cant load a proper suitcase.

Interior space looks good

Somehow i did not like this Verito, one for the looks and other one is pricing (6.80 Lakhs OTR for base model), the car is for only for space and mileage i would say.

Not really impressed with this launch as a private buyer. May appeal to taxi segment which may be Mahindra's target but still looks overpriced. The design is decades old - rear design is a mix of Indica and figo, both models which are already quite old now. Front looks like a car designed in the 90's. Interiors look very basic, again as if designed for just functionality. The only pros look like a diesel engine, good ride quality and ample space for passengers.

Neither did I, with also the most impractical boot lid design I had seen on a hatchback.

Initially i had assumed that this model will surely kill the EV2 in terms of taxi business but looking at M&M optimistic price, all my assumptions are turned wrong,
Already struggling Tata's can take a breath of relief.

It doesn't qualify for the taxi segment too,for it is priced high where Indica and vista is still serves the purpose well. But yes, for the private buyer it is not suggested, i'd prefer the sail which is nice to drive and obviously no one can miss the MJD in it.

Well you are true to some extent, because the boot space is one of the key aspect in Indian car market, i might say its not fully wrong by Mahindra to make the boot with fixed rear glass, but the hatch would have been welcomed.

Same here, the prices are on the higher side. Well tata can still see some Indicas selling.
