Hyundai Xcent S 1.2 - My Daily Commute - Owner's View (3rd Service Update @ Pg.13)

Hi,
I have checked auto door locks option in Grand i10/xcent/Elite i20 using G scan. No option to enable in these 3 cars. It is not listed in BCM.100% confirmed i checked in Hyundai service station.

I bought the Drls from Ebay and saw the black fog lamp cover opp. to drls(curve edges nearing radiator) not getting inserted properly. I can see come minute gaps. But looks ok.


I bought the drls frim Ebay. The mechanic fixed a switch near headlight adjuster as additional. Remaining are the same wrings.
I did PPF from 3M Nandhanam Chennai. PPF inside door handles,OVRM backsides,and door edges totally 4 sft. Price is 500 per sqft.
On the same day i did underbody coating(Rs.3500),silencer coating(Rs1000).


AC cooling is low in my xcent S(o). I checked it in Hyundai free car care clinic in Chennai.The SM told he needs to show the car to AC vendor and try to fix the issue.

I have booked the Xcent SX petrol recently and did a PDI last week at the dealer's stockyard. When I pressed the black plastic bumper in front, I went in easily and felt flimsy. Is this normal?

Also, on checking the VIN, I see it's a Aug 2015 manufactured vehicle. Hyundai changed the variants and made ABS standard in early August 2015. It seems the the dealer is selling me a vehicle that was manufactured just after these changes. I asked the dealer for a newer vehicle and he replied that they Hyundai is only sending them older stock and they have not received vehicles with Sept or Oct manufacturing date.

I find this hard to believe since Xcent is been selling on average 3-4k every month. Should dump the dealer and go elsewhere?

It's normal. And it's the norm to ensure safety of pedestrians in case of any mishap!!

You should dump the dealer and go for someone else. But if I were you, I would bargain hard and get the Aug make vehicle. It's just hardly 4 months old, and if PDI was ok from your side, try to bargain a lot. I have seen advertisements like 60k discount in total for Xcent. If possible, try to get that 60k discount, free insurance, extended warranty and free accessories, by going with August make vehicle. Then it'd be sweet deal. Else move onto another dealer to get Sep to Nov made vehicle!!

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I bargained hard during initial discussion. He has given roughly 65k discounts in the form of free insurance cashback and exchange bonus (For my 11yr old Santro Xing). Initially I requested ~1month old vehicle, For this he said , he can at best assure less than 2 month old vehicle. After PDI, I had more discussion with him and asked for a newer vehicle. In case that is not possible, I asked for free 4th & 5th Extended warranty (3rd year is already included).
Everything looked fine during PDI. Odo was only 16kms.
Another question I have is, the new Xcent is supposed to have ABS. How do I confirm the the inspected vehicle has ABS? Will Hyundai customer care be able to confirm if I provide the VIN number?

65k is just regular discounts. You should get more if you want to go for older vehicle!

Regarding ABS, it's a tough thing. You can start the car and see if ABS light glows. But I suspect he is trying to sell you a car without ABS. But anyways, apart from that ABS light indicator, I don't know how to cross check whether it comes with ABS or not!!

Better we wait for someone who knows about it to reply this query....

Well, if delivery has already been taken, nothing can be done now. Xcent with ABS will have the ABS light glow and dealer will confirm the Same. I think It will be on Papers too.

I have not taken the delivery yet. The Sales adviser asked for more time to confirm if he can provide more discounts. However, he has not responded for last 2 days. We had asked for the delivery on Dec 6th. This looks unlikely right now.

Thanks for your inputs folks. I took the delivery of the same Xcent sleek silver today. When I started enquiring with other dealers, most were quoting nearly 30% less for my 11year old Santro. So went ahead with my purchase decision even though no additional discounts were offered. I confirmed that the car does have ABS. I will start a new ownership thread soon.
I have one more query, while reading the user manual it was suggested not to leave the USB media drive plugged in while starting the engine. I always used to leave it plugged in the pioneer head unit in Santro and never had any problems. Is it fine to do the same with Xcent?

No issue. I have done it a lot of times and I found no issue. BTW Congrats on getting Xcent same color as mine...

Did someone figure out how to find whether the car is equipped with ABS or not? Am waiting for the Car to be in showroom, to precheck, before its taken to RTO for registration.

You can check the ABS light at the top left on the instrument console. It should light up when you turn the key to accessory position.
You can also check for the ABS module physically. It will be installed just between the engine and the battery on the firewall.

guys i m going to book xcent s1.2 ABC, he is offering essential accessories free, and 3 year warranty and insurance free.
1.what more i look for?
2.what should i coinfirmed before delivery.
3.do tell me how to get vin and how to decode it?

As suggested by @aramosfet
Look for the ABS light and the HECU under the hood. If the variant is non ABS then also there will be a small booster but for ABS version, the HECU will be big and will look exactly same as that shown in the pic.

Hii guys, i have booked xcent s1.2 petrol in twilight blue colour. The expected delivery is 25 December.
