top gun to gets low fe [;)]
anyways my fe is down to 10.7 from the 12 I've been getting on this tank, lets see on the next tank will fill up day after. Clutch issue is increasing. was shifting to go into fifth pressed the clutch got the gears out of 4th and then couldn't get it into 5th and neither any other gear pumped the clutch 2-3 times and then it went in as normal hasn't happened again today

Bobazooka , I have been a user of one of the best petrol engines in the VeTech engines of Honda city type 2. I still own the car. My take is if the best Honda petrol engine gives me a mileage of 10 in city and 12 to 13 on highways then we should not expect anything more from any other petrol engine in the same cubic capacity class. And if you get anything close to this FE then it should be an acceptable norm. I don't think any car company would make better petrol engines than Honda. Any car company which comes close to it should be good in any case. The better overall package from Hyundai is what makes this car a better petrol package as well .

but topgun buddy hyundai claimed 13 on city drives and 17.03 on highway drives.
Yeah i know honda engines are pretty efficient but actually i found more great petrol engines but they are in the upper class range currently in this range id say cruze petrol version would have a real good engine if it comes out here.

Tops if id be getting 10 kmpl i wudnt have bothered infact i not even looking for what hyundai are claiming! Im getting 8.6 kmpl which for me doesn't work out, as nick suggested this time im gonna try the tankful method.

Honda are a league apart agree with you on that, but what Hyundai are stating is dud.

hyundai has been stating outrageous fes on most of their cars especially the petrol ones. But you know there are folks who the sales exec says arai claimed is 13 in city you should get 11-12 but when that doesn't meet they get annoyed.
like during my time when i was to get 7 in city i wasn't really annoyed as i had this feeling city driving is very taxing, but when it put out 10 on highways i got annoyed and what added more fuel to my anger was these guys blaming the driving style.

my whole aim for going in for petrol is cause im a major petrol head, somehow diesel doesnt gel with me and my dad. If youd look at my usuage 1500-2000/month most would say im crazy for going i for a petrol
.

shifted to castrol magnatec 5w30 today, first i talked to hyundai service center they said they use Servo 15W40 in all hyundai petrol cars in my city, well the thing is which i have found (in the user manual of verna, by talking to some oil dealers, mechanics) is that verna petrol version can go for most of the oil grades available in the market but lower the oil grade better the mileage, when i got my first service done the service center guys have put the servo 15w40 as they dont want to purchase different oil for different cars so they take bulk purchase of servo 15w40, the 15w40 can be used with the verna petrol but it is not the best oil alailable for the verna petrol so my mileage and accelatration has reduced, but after my research i decided to switch to castrol magnatec 5w30, so today i have bought the magnatec 5w30 and got it changed from a local garage near to my place, i have also talked to hyundai for getting the oil changed at the service station but they were making a fuss about it. Now the accelatration is definetaley increased and i am also feeling a change in mileage today i have got 8km/l according to the verna's mid in a short run where earlier i used to get 6~7km/l for the same distance with the same traffic.

Hey guys, I am not leaving TAI at all..its actually good platform to share problems and find solutions for them without going to service stations again and again..And the kind of experience lot of guys have here, it actually feels like sitting on a safer side..
Well yeah, as of know i am enjoying every bit of my car..all the features which i wanted everything is just too good..and if i feel, there's something poking me about the car, i know TAI is here.. [:)]

@Bobazooka: i think topgun is absolutely right, my cousin owns city, hes getting FE of 11-12 when he looks more on ODO rather then roads, trying to get best FE figures..Just forget what hyundai has to claim..just prepare your mind for the one u getting..because i think its not possible to get that 16-17kmpl..!!
