i don't know man whats with the verna, one guy having this issue is fine but here there are guys who get low fes and the biggest issue is out of 10 around 2/3 guys have the petrol variant so it would be little hard for hyundai to know there is actually an issue here.

i never had good fes when the car was new only mid would display good ones.

i somehow suspect the fuel we get at some places must be having ethanol and our engine doesn't take to ethanol s the honda city's do. Could i be right?

also do you feel the paint on our verna is pretty soft? do you find lots of brake dust on your rims?

yes the fuel is a concern and Hyundai have not tuned the engine correctly.

The paint is very soft infact its a swirl attractor, cannot be counted in. needs truck loads of detailing to keep it in shape.

i spotted loads and loads of swirls on my trunk as well as bonnet today, but the thing is in the course of getting rid of these swirls we may end up removing our clear coats completely. If you do some claying and use a strong shampoo you'd find hell lot more of swirls on the car[anger] it feels like instead of using shampoo were using face scrub on the car.

Bobazooka , today I went just for 20kms and 2 petrol bars were down on returning , I mean full 2 bars.

I'm just waiting for the fuel light to blink and if the fe is not satisfactory, I will take the car to the service center and let them do aome tests. I'll not going to be polite with them anymore.

I have done everything what nick suggested but stikl getting issues.

Will tell you how much I got for the full tank.

The paint is very soft, infact too soft the clear coat wont stay more than 2 years. Unless your detailing i mean detailing it with good wax using a good buffer! No other way to maintain this paint.

2 years no problems! blacklights there to keep it protected and presentable to the next owner. Gonna get rid of the car once the original warranty is done with i have a bad feeling about the extended warranty and reliability of the car.
as i just did 10k clutch feels weird and brakes are requiring more pedal. I don't even feel like going to the service centre.

why don't you guys just check your alignment just incase? so you would have an idea if thats causing it?

had gone to the mall this evening parked my car besides another vtvt, as i came back the owner of that car to was walking unto his car and then he asked me petrol or diesel i said petrol and there he said terrible average this crap gives how much you get? i said 12-13 and he goes no kidding? i get 9 max on the highway.
Now I'm starting to think that my fe is somewhat more cause i coast wherever possible other then the synth oil doing this lets try and see by not coasting from next tank[frustration]

btw i went through my fuel records turns out when car was new it used to put out 10km/l and as i reach 5k km it became 6.5km/l

Nick it's a fact the car doesn't give good FE on petrol and even the diesel ones are a bit exaggerated. Moving to synth was the best thing one car do.

was going by a few reviews on the petrol verna yes mate we are a group there are many guys, while one guy says he's getting 17 on highways he's not quoting whether he did a manual check or derived it from the odo.
I really hope you and allhyundaicars get the issue resolved its a terrible thing knowing the fuel costs sky rocketing daily and the car being so demanding, till now i haven't filled fuel out of my city but its bothering me now when i will be traveling to far of cities and the only bunks are the highway ones, the car may just conk of. Or i will need to buy a carton of fuel stabilizers.

hyundai should have really given an added feature of opening the floor board to drive the car flintstones style to save fuel.

I think we as petrol owners cant do much except the move to synth. There is something called as neutral driving, a friend of mine used to do this a lot. The logic is simple on a given stretch try being on neutral as much as possible and always be on higher gears. I tried it earlier this week and cud see the realtime and average FE shoot up by 0.5 -0.9 km at least. This works well for city driving not for highways.

i dont shift to neutral cause ecu will pump fuel to keep the engine running, but i keep the car in 5th gear reach the speed i want say 90km/h let go of throttle and let it slowly come down to 80 and then i throttle gently again and repeat, the engine runs by the rotation of the tires ecu senses this and cuts fuel supply. Or the engine leans out while cruising but i feel high octane fuels will be better here if engine supports.

yes i think synth would be worth it knowing how much we spend on petrol anyways, try if you can source 5w30 if not semi synth 10w30

I do the same , if see a traffic light , put it in neutral and coast. And I generally drive at 1500rpm. Now many sites say to keep at high gears so at 5th gear my speed varies between 50-60. And I drive like this most of the time but still bad fe[anger]
