Hyundai to export the 'MADE IN INDIA' ix25 CUV to other markets !

Hyundai India will not just manufacture the ix25, its new compact SUV for the Indian market but also at the same time even export to the North American market as well.

The ix25 is a great competition to the Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano in the Indian car market, however for the North American market it will be up against the Chevrolet Trax, Jeep Renegade and the Dodge Journey.

The ix25 for the Indian market will be available with a 1.6-litre petrol (manual and automatic), 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre diesel engines.

For the North American market Hyundai is focusing more on petrols so it will be getting the 1.6-litre petrol with an option of manual and automatic transmissions.

Indian car market is getting super hot, the choices are like getting infitsmal varieties,
The ix25 is sure a born winner,I cant imagine how crowded Indian car market will be 2 years from this day,it will be like one heck of a competition, survival of the fittest will probably be the supreme principal for success.

The Duster-rivaling compact SUV will be packed with features such as 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, diamond-cut alloy wheels, projector headlights, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, an integrated music system with steering mounted controls and electrically adjustable and folding wing mirrors.

ix25 will come in 3 engine options - One petrol and Two Diesel. With this the starting price of the ix25 will be competing with Ecosport while the top variants with Duster / Terrano and Upcoming S Cross!

The ix25 will be the biggest launch for the Korean car maker in India this year which plans to introduce the vehicle in the August-September period.

For the Indian market though, the ix25 could be given a different name, and local market changes, like a different grille or bumper, could find their way on the compact SUV as well. Even then, reports state that Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has invested over INR 1,000 Cr in the project to achieve localization of nearly 90 percent, which is an indication that prices will be competitive.
For the Indian market, the ix25 would be powered by the same engines used on the Verna sedan. These include 1.6-liter petrol and diesel engines, and possibly even a 1.4-liter diesel engine for an entry-level variant. It remains to be seen if HMIL offers automatic transmission or 4WD capability on its Duster rival.

HMIL is expected to kit the ix25 with features such as projector headlights, diamond cut alloy wheels, multifunction steering wheel, a Bluetooth-enabled music system, automatic climate control, reverse camera and parking sensors and rear AC vents, thus making it feature rich in comparison to the Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano.

Hyundai's ix25 apart from a new India specific name will be different in interiors as compared to the International model.





Hyundai has been aggressively testing its new small SUV all over India. This new SUV (Codename: GS) will hit our shores around August this year. Although launched in some international markets as the ix25, it's expected to be known by a different name here.

Featured here are the first spy photos of the new SUV in right-hand drive format, equipped with a manual gearbox with black and beige dual-tone interiors.

Hyundai is in the process of tweaking this SUV to suit Indian tastes, in terms of interior fitments. Hyundai is expected to bring it in different interior shades as well. Our source tells us that Hyundai will bring in this new SUV with as many as three interior shade options, the base trims are likely to get an all black theme while the middle and high variants will get dual-tone shades in the form of either black-beige or black with blue or orange, like offered on the Hyundai i20 Active.

Hyundai ix25 spotted testing on Greater Noida expressway

Hyundai has been testing the ix25 crossover in India for quite some time now. The test mule was snapped in a camouflaged avatar on the Greater Noida expressway.

The ix25 looks like a smaller version of the Santa Fe and carries over the same design language. The car is presently only available in China. It measures 4,270mm in length, 1,780mm in width and 1,630mm in height. The top-of-the-line version is fully loaded with projector headlamps, DRLs, roof rails, alloy wheels and OVRMs integrated with side indicators.

The vehicle is available in the Chinese market with a sun roof, cruise control, automatic climate control, keyless start and reverse parking camera. We can expect most of these features to be introduced in the India-spec model.

The ix25 might be powered by the same engine options from the Hyundai Verna. For the Chinese market, the ix25 comes with AWD, automatic gearbox and ESP. The AWD version is unlikely to be made available but the 1.6-litre engine will be offered with manual and automatic transmission option.

The Hyundai ix25 is expected to make an Indian debut by the end of this year. Most of its parts are to be locally produced in India helping the manufacturer price the car competitively. It will compete with the Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Alpha.

Hyundai ix25 Compact SUV to be Unveiled in India in June

Launch of Hyundai ix25 SUV is set for a later date, probably in August 2015.

Hyundai India has confirmed their new ix25 small SUV will be officially unveiled in the last week of June 2015. The ix 25 was first launched in China, after making global premiere at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show.

Slated for launch in India by August 2015, just ahead of the festive season, new ix25 is expected to be given a new name here. The reason being, their ‘i’ series of naming, in India is reserved for hatchbacks – i10, Grand i10, Elite i20, and i20 Active. Some buyers might think the name ix25 hints at something which is based on i20 hatch (which is not the case). To avoid this confusion, Hyundai India will most likely give it a new name. We expect this new name to be revealed at the official unveil next month.

Why so much delay between official unveil in June and launch in Sept? Is it Hyundai's attempt to slow-down block the prospective buyers from going to Jazz and A-Cross, keep them waiting by unveiling the product in June, before either of these cars are launched and keep the buzz and keep the customers waiting and then launch in Sept and take a decent market share??

Could be Hyundai's tactics targeting prospective Jazz customers ( like you) and confusing them.

Maruti's launch seem to be like the Ciaz , will create hype, use the premium showroom to showcase it and final launch of Across will be in October.

Point to note is Hyundai has no direct competition to EcoSport nor Vitara Brezza ( giving Active a pass) so it will go all out to get maximum benefit in the iX25.

Could be Hyundai's tactics targeting prospective Jazz customers ( like you) and confusing them.

True VM2011, Hyundai has successfully managed to do that. Especially with speculations in Team-BHP that the On-Road price for top Petrol will be 11-12L (which I think is very unlikely) - I expected the ex-showroom price to be in this range. But I am not sure how long I will wait. As of now, looking at Jazz alone and if it is perfect for me, I am not going to look at others.

Point to note is Hyundai has no direct competition to EcoSport nor Vitara Brezza ( giving Active a pass) so it will go all out to get maximum benefit in the iX25.

Duster will be the direct competition, but Hyundai will look to target everything from Ecosport to Vitara Brezze to Duster to A-Cross to probably even base Scorpio using one single iX25.

Hyundai ix25 compact SUV testing on the Greater Noida Expressway recently. As reported earlier, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) is looking to launch the Duster-rival in the July-August period, and will start pre-launch activities (media test drives) next month.

For the Indian market, the ix25 is reported to use a different name and feature styling changes that appeal to the local audience. These could include anything from a new grille to different interior color schemes, but massive changes are not expected. Codenamed ‘GS’, HMIL has reportedly invested INR 1,000 Cr in this project to achieve localization of nearly 90 percent.

Under the hood, the ix25 for India would borrow its engines from the Verna, which gets 1.6-liter petrol and diesel motors matched to a 5- and 6-speed manual transmission respectively. Additionally, a 1.4-liter diesel engine could be seen on the base variant of the ix25.

The ix25 in its Chinese market specification measures 4.27 meters in length, 1.78 meters in width, 1.63 meters in height and 2.59 meters in wheelbase. It also gets 1.6- and 2.0-liter petrol engines with a 6-speed automatic transmission and 4WD drivetrain in China, but it remains to be seen if these technologies are offered on the Indian spec car.
