Hi Guys,
I'm getting calls from Trident for Insurance renewal (New India assurance). Mine is due to be renewed in December 2016. They have quoted an IDV of 5.41L after 10% depreciation for the first year. The premium comes to ~13K with zero dep cover.
I was checking quotes on coverfox website and most of the quotes are in the same range but with an IDV of 4.4L-4.9L. Most insurance websites are setting a depreciation of 15% for first year.
Is the offer from New India insurance fair or am I missing something?
Mine is a Petrol Xcent SX from Dec 2015.
Thanks,

To be fair, the offer is fair enough! [:D]

Just make sure it is B2B, Zero Dep cover and if yes, then you are good to go!

Mate I would suggest you to go with the dealer and asked them to give freebies like complete car wash or top up etc.I had renewed my insurance from my dealer, not only they quoted lowest but also they offered me 2 car wash(Ext+Int), 1 complete check-up & top up with a validity of 6 months. At least I ended up saving 500-600 Rs by having two car wash for free.

Guys, Today morning while cold starting, I heard a horrific loud grinding sound from engine bay of my 5 month old Grand i10, it was for a friction of second and I cancelled the startup, I opened the bonet and everything was fine , no smells, smoke nothing..
I gave it a second try and it started smoothly. there were no signs blinked up but I am afraid what that sound may be and what would have worn in that fraction while caused that sound.. has anyone experienced it?
I drove it to office (nearly 28 KMs) and it runs butter smooth ,

Might be oil not pumped to the head at cold start, or starter motor shaft would not have returned back, at second try it would have got back , because spring will release when engine gets off.

Re: Hyundai Grand i10 Asta Ownership Review

Hello members.

We have a Grand i10 Sportz Petrol which had gone through an accident 1.5-2 month back. The rear left door, rear left fender, rear left door handle, front bumper and rear bumper were repaired/repainted under insurance. We gave the car for repair work at a Delhi dealership since Dad knows some people there. When the car was back from repairs, I noticed that the rear left door was jammed (, was jammed when we gave the car for repairs as well) i.e. the door handle was not functioning at all. Since a driver went there to collect the car after repairs, he didn't notice it.

I took the car some time back to a Noida dealership and they said that the one who has done the accidental repair shall fix this free of cost and they would charge for the job. The SA has given an estimate of Rs. 300. To take the car to the Delhi dealer would cost around the same in fuel expenses and such, so I am sticking to the Noida dealership or aftermarket shops.

Has anyone faced a similar issue? What was the part that was faulty (door lock?) and how much did it cost?

PS. The power window for that door works. There was a huge dent on that door by the way.

Regards,
Alpha

It appears that door simply got Mis-aligned due to impact. Also, The door handle linkage appears to be disconnected due to shock. Some setting will fix the problem.
300 is not a big cost for repairs.

I'd suggest sticking to dealership.

Thanks bhvm. The door looks properly aligned (before as well as after the impact), so I am guessing there is a problem with the part to which the door locks upon closing (is that door handle linkage)?

There is no major problem because of that inoperative door as the car is mostly solo driven, so will probably take it to the dealership only when time permits.

Hi Guys,
I went to give my Xcent for 2nd free service as it will be 1 year in December. However they suggested to wait longer as I have time till end of December and mileage only 6.7K as of now. I got them to check the clutch noise when engaging. They adjusted the freeplay and now the noise is greatly reduced. However, the clutch biting point is much higher now So i need to get used to it again [frustration].
They also suggested a On-road assistance plan. They are offering 2 years assistance for Rs 912 and 3 year for 1512. Does it make sense to take it?

For 3 years it come to about 500/year.
Definitely makes sense if they're really providing the urgent service as shown in brochure.

P.s- Towing is only within 10km of SVC, that does not make sense at all. What if you're on highway between 2 towns? Mahindra offers 50km towing free of charge in RSA.

I think its important to be covered for such unforeseen situations and the prices seem to be okay too. Please also check with your insurance company at the time of renewal (which should be next month) if they offer similar services. Some of them offer really good 'on road' support.

Also consider taking extended warranty. Highly recommended.
