Thank God your car is safe and pro-active neighbors helped. Gear Lock is definitely helpful and you should opt for the one shown below buddy.

Thanks for such an instant reply.. Definitely going to install it tomorrow evening after office hours. I want to ask one more thing as an unsuccessful effort of break in some scratches on door were made.
I was planning for exterior detailing from a while, now got a reason! [;)] Except 3M where can I take it for removal of swirl marks and minor scratches.

Slightly off topic..I want to share a incident happened with my grand i10 last night around 2, a thief was trying to break in. But thank god that my neighbours were returning back and they saw and responded immediately. Thief did ran way but luckily my ride was fine. As mine is magna, doesn't come with anti theft alarm.
When I get to know about this incident next morning. I got autocop xs plip 80 for it. Which have door and volumetric security as well. I want to ask is there anything else should I install like..a gear lock??
Yes get the gear lock installed or a Gps tracker. Gear lock from hyundai /minda is for 1499 and a GPs tracker will be around 4-6k

Well there is one new name in Detailing "Motor Coat" in Delhi only. They have recently launched their services. I don't have any practical experience of their services though. If the scratches are minor, get liquid wax car polish and do it at home buddy.[:)]

wanted to share my recent experience on a long trip with my xcent S(O).

i covered 2450km mumbai-vadodara-somnath-porbandar-dwarka-ahmdbd-mumbai with 3 pax and 4 bags. regarding the tak sound, i used to get it sometimes before this trip hence didnt give it much importance. in this trip, this noise started coming very often. apart from this didnt have any issues, the 185/65 r14 michlein xm2 gave great control and smoothness and the mileage ranged between 25-27kmpl with AC on always (speed being 100-120kmph max time)

Wow!! A 2450 kms long trip..! Sure you had a great time driving your beauty.. I have the same size tyres on my Grand (Yoko 185 65 R14).. Couple of things -

Post installation of wider tyres, do you feel your car's steering wheel has gained additional weight which feels a little heavy at times? Not too heavy but a tad heavier than how it should be? I'm a little unhappy with the amount of weight it has gained while on slow speeds in city traffic conditions though the steering feels pretty planted on highways and on high speeds. Please share your experience and thoughts..

About that annoying"TAK" sound, have you got it checked or planning to get it checked?

Thanks..

regarding the weight, yes, it feels much more planted and it does feel bit heavy or i should say appropriate. on city traffic, the steering is still light, no major changes in the weight.

regarding the clutch sound, will go to HASS soon.

Hi Guys

I own a Hyundai Xcent S(o) VTVT. The car hasn't given me any sort of trouble till last weekend. I took the car out on Sunday and after about a 100 m stroll to reach the main road I heard a metal clinking noise from the underbody.

I stopped to check what happened and found a pulley lever on the road with a broken nut. I got the piece back to my car and kept it inside and then noticed the engine was making a weird sound(very mild but noticeable to someone who drives it everyday). The air-conditioning was also ineffective at that stage.

I couldn't figure out the problem and so I parked it and called Emergency service for it to be toed for inspection.

I forgot to mention before, the engine oil started leaking on ignition as well.

When I took it to the service station, they examined and told it was the crank shaft pulley that has come off with no apparent cause ( the nut broke but not because of any driving or physical disorder). Thankfully it is still covered under warranty.

However isn't it too early for a car with 22k on ODO to get such a thing. Checked some other forums and apparently it is a common problem with many Hyundai cars all over the world. Anybody else faced a similar thing?

My grand now covered 9.5 k and nearing 2nd service and engine feels totally free and open now. Drove it today after a month as someone else was using it the car feels way faster and torquer now. I was surprised by the pull today in the evening ! [clap]

Hi Guys.. An update on the TAK sound. I went to Hyundai last Friday and said them about the issue which I am facing, They opened the hood and tighten the clutch and did some spraying to the clutch pedal. I enquired if there is some damange to the cluth, he said no the clutch was very loose now it should be fine. But that didn't help I heard the sound again. [anger]

After googling I changed my way of driving as well. Apart from engaging gear change I keep my left foot on the floor, the TAK sound is not fully vanished but it is now reduced. The fuel efficiency has increased a tad now. I am planning to visit HASS again but I am not convinced with their expertise [cry]

That's bad. I'm sure this is a design issue which HASS is not being able to fix, or even diagnose [frustration]. On changing the driving style, I'm also applying the similar approach these days (keeping my left foot on the floor as much as I can while using clutch) which helps in arresting that irritating sound most of the times..

Thanks for sharing your experience. Please keep us posted with any progress on your next visit. I'm also taking mine soon. Will update.

Tightening of clutch wire will only reduce the clutch pedal play.

If you have time do ask him to remove the clutch pedal and show it to you. Just tell him my friend's pedal was broken so I need to confirm. Dont think they should charge for it.
