First you say that the service person told you that the belt was in very bad condition and now you are saying that only a thread was torn out.Clarify what you want.Well you know better about Hyundai ASS.
Hi, as far as my understanding, even if single line/thread is out, it has to be replaced. The belt loses the required traction even with minor defect.

Well, he explained to me over phone that the thread in the belt was torn from it. And if we leave it on, it might give trouble sooner or later. So I said go ahead. Sorry if my words were confusing. I just forgot to mention about it earlier

im going to give xcent for 3rd servicing (9.5k km) next week, anything imp i should have in mind?
Just keep track of the consumables. I don't know about Hyundai but 10k is roughly the point from when various oils and filters are changed (for diesel).

Basing this information based on Ford, Skoda and Suzuki cars that were part of my life.

My petrol grand seems to have some gear issue. A lot of times the reverse gear does not fully engage even if i try harder. If i leave clutch its that kharrrr loud noise as if i broke something. This happens only in reverse gear for me. Usually when it happens i put in first and then go to reverse again and it engages ok. what can be the issue ? could it be the reverse gear lock guy when fixing the lock fiddled something ?

My Xcent also has a similar issue. I have try a couple of times to engage reverse gear. Its not as smooth as the other gear. If its not engaged fully, you will hear a grinding noise when releasing clutch. If it doesn't engage reverse, shifting to neutral and back usually work for me. need to get it checked during the first service.
BTW, Hyundai has a free monsoon check up camp running. There are discounts on Extended warranty and underbody coating.

100% Same issue in my hyundai i10 2008. I guess this is by design and Hyundai has used a poor implementation of Reverse gear.

Hey friends!!
I am following this thread for last couple of days..really helpful indeed. thanks everyone for their valuable inputs! Now I have one observation regarding my car(Grand Asta O_ Petrol MT). Which is, every time i connect my mobile via bluetooth to my car, it downloads the contacts if I start making call immediately after the mobile connects. I can understand the call history, but why contacts? It was already downloaded last time, isnt it? Its very irritating [anger].. any solution?

You can turn that off from Settings IIRC. Just check your manual. For me, it now downloads only the call history!

Was the engine cranking but not starting? In my case, it was cranking but not starting, and after trying the start the engine while accelerator press all the way it started. Pressing the accelerator tells the ECU to stop fuel injection and allow air so the fuel-air ratio is improved. At the end I could smell petrol and some petrol at the tailpipe also. But based on my searches online, I don't see water in the engine compartment causing it.
Thanks

@furious_driver, Sorry for hijacking your thread. We can move it to problems and solutions thread.
Even for me it was cranking not starting.. Faced similar situation arnd 9 months back when I went to Kumbakonam, parked my car near a temple, there was a slight drizzle and when I came and cranked the engine it din start. I had do the same turn off complete and turn on again. O

I own ABS version of Xcent, has anyone found an issue with Xcent braking? Couple of months back I was driving in T nagar, people who knew about Chennai will know how congested T Nagar would be. While I was crawling suddenly my daughter who was sitting at the back pulled my shirt and I lost my concentration for fraction of second so I rear ended a Dzire who stopped suddenly. Trust me major damage for Dzire dent in the Bumper and the front Hyundai Logo dented Dzire boot lid and not even a scratch in my Xcent. I politely apologized to him and said, to avoid traffic pileup I will wait near Panagal Park which was few mtrs from that place and he came there. I gave him 3000 bucks for my mistake. Now the issue is I knew I had hit the brake and I remember that moment it was like I was pressing my leg on a stone so that is why brake din apply. I found out that if you are in half clutch and try to apply break sometimes the brake pedal turns into dead pedal :'( The next day went to Hyundai A S S , One guy drove the car with all possible speeds and hit the break in all possible way it worked that day I asked him to do the way I found out but still he said it is working. He checked the break and said all is fine. But I am still not convinced because I knew that I hit the brake that day. Anyone who had or has this same issue?

Hello friends,
I bought a grand i10 asta last year in September.
After running of 4500 kms it starts producing some hissing , humming sound. This sound is coming specially on extra smooth roads.
I visited the dealer from where I purchased the car, they told me it's normal sound. I spent one more month with my car and the sound is some what increasing day by day.
I visited other dealership and they thoroughly checked the wheel bearings for noise after opening it and found ok. They changed all four tires from new one and took test drive and the noise still persists.

The final thing left is the gearbox. This is the culprit. They drained gear oil and for the big surprise they found only around one litre gear oil, completely black along with emry and particles.
We have got the main culprit of noise.

Now the scene begins.
It was a fault of PDI team of hyundai or dealer from which I bought a car. And after a fight of one month , I succeed to got my new gearbox.
They story is very long and some great episodes from my side, hyundai area manager, main dealership, regional managers, hyundai customer care, one awesome workshop manager, some stupid raichands, idiot mechanics......

They told me this is first grand i10 of india having the major issue.

Today new gearbox is installed and the car is now noise free.....

If you members allow me, I will open a detailed thread for this process. I covered the full process with snaps and texting towards hyundai.
