Re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Asta (O) Petrol Ownership Review

Hi Sandy,
Yes never heard of the clutch bite adjustment for grand. Please elaborate.
And whats exaclty the 3M inddor cleaning? how is it diofferent? will it stay & smell fresh for long?
Parth, i being a germophobic as soon i heard about 3M antibacterial treatment i wanted to try it and it turned out to be very nice. The car smells fresh and looks very clean, it smells like a candy. (very mild smell not one of those that gives headache). This cleaning was done on 22 Oct and my car still smells like a candy.

I keep my car very clean both in and out but i have to tell you, that the cleaning these guys do is very professional. Even the tiny spots are taken care very nicely. AC vents, unreachable corners, carpet both upside and down and engine under the hood are cleaned.

3M cleaning was available inside the Hyundai service center. (Trident Hyundai, white Field Road). I see myself getting this done every 6 months along with wheel balancing and aligning from Hyundai.

Re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Asta (O) Petrol Ownership Review

hi
I am on the lookout for a good hatch. My search has ended up in me shortlisting
1) Hyundai Grand i10 Asta(o) - almost certain
2) Hyundai elite i20 asta - mostly dropping it due to long waiting
3) Maruti Swift Zxi - trying to figure out if the compromise in rear bench and the miserly boot is actually worth the driving pleasure.
So my post here is to get the opinion of the grand i10 owners.
@pmdsp, i see that you are located at Bangalore. So it would be great if could share where you bought urs, and also hows the economy and all. I read your posts of service charges, i think that is pretty decent.

Will surely recommend the grand.the only issue which my swift driving friends complain is the relative lack of throttle response, which as you may appreciate is due to the engine being tuned for fuel efficiency. The swifts engine is more rev friendly, if you like to zip zap zoom on the road you may want to consider the swift with the new upgrades (blue tooth, start stop button, electric foldable wing mirrors) which brings in almost at par with the accessories of the grand(no rear a vent though).however if your driving style is more sedate and you want a lighter steering , a roomy bright cabin, excellent fit and finish, excellent mileage (without ac) the grand fits perfectly.

Even with A/C on always, I am getting 14.5 km/l in city driving and I guess this is more than decent mileage. And I agree with your recommendation about Swift, but one more thing you missed is, rear leg room. I feel swift rear legroom is poor compared to that of G-i10.

Re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Asta (O) Petrol Ownership Review

@Arvin Mate I have driven swift for 2 years before switching over to Grand. Here are my 2 cents (I have driven petrol version of both the cars)
1- Fit and Finish of the interiors is far superior in grand when compared to swift.
2- Big Boot in grand. Very convenient if your travelling a lot.
3- Fuel efficiency is slightly better in Grand. But the newer version of swift promises better mileage.
4- Driving pleasure and steering feedback in swift is awesome. You will love it while driving. Grand is easier to drive in cities. But it lacks that response which you get in swift.
5- 3 passengers can sift quite comfortably at the back in Grand. Its very cramped in swift.
6- ASS is pretty similar in both.

Hope this helps. Cheers!

I had this fixed this weekend. Faux leather. Well fitted and very comfortable. It cost me 4500/- from a popular dealer in car decoration and accessories in Kolkata.

Looks good. I got one for 3000 here in noida. It's Eagle brand. The colour combination is just like stock (black and beige).

I brought my grand last year this month from Trident Hyundai (Sanki Road) but i would recommend you visit white field Trident Hyundai shop, i had a better experience with these guys.

Recommend visiting at-least 4 to 5 shops as the free bees changes shop to shop. Some give insurance free/discounts/accessories.

Here are the things that i considered before buying.
1, Price.
2, Requirements.
3, Usage.
4, Maintenance cost.

Brought petrol version purely because of my lite usage and yearly maintenance cost.
I have done full tank to full tank check and I'm getting almost 20Km/L on highways with AC and 14 to 15Km/L inside the city with AC. I let my first quarter of the fuel Gage to get empty and get it topped up to full again and compare. The first quarter almost holds 10 + Ltrs of fuel, i cover almost 200Kms on it, if i consider 18 or 19KM/L it still is an amazing economy on highways. I drive not more than 120Km/Hr on highways.

Last year i have spent nothing on this car other than just getting wheel balancing/aligning and swapping front wheels to back and back to front (Rs 600) on 5000 ODO and 5.2K for 2nd service.

Having said all the above i would say buy a car as per your needs/requirements.

Thanks Lawyeronwheelz, this surely tilts my balance more in favour of grand. The only reason i am considering swift is the responsiveness and ride quality.

Wow.. furious_driver, that is outstanding mileage figures. :) Legroom in swift is a joke, i can barely fit in, that too when the front seat is in adjusted nearest to the steering.

Thanks for the crisp points suraj, ease of city driving will be appreciated much. I am not going to rip the highways, so i think i can compromise a little on responsiveness. But i have heard it handles better than older hyundais on highway.
My main highway usage will be Bangalore - Mysore. And i don't think i can manage to post a high speed record there.

Thanks pmdsp, yeah even i am trying to max the freebies :) i have visited trident whitefield, domlur. and also advaith. Right now no one is giving anything different, all the same, I guess the demand is huge so they are making the customer come to their terms. Personally felt trident guys were more responsive.
And yeah the economy seems really good. My running is not going to be more than 15k an year. So i am guessing petrol mill will do the job.
PS: my thread on a detailed summary of my needs :)

For 15k running, petrol is perfect choice and I am sure you will get good FE in Bangalore B2B traffic with Grand.

And regarding highway manners, I was surprised when I had my first long highway run with my Xcent. Handling was excellent and power is just enough. And I got mileage of around 17.5 with constant 80-90 and top speed of 130.
