Re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Asta (O) Petrol Ownership Review

I got a question regarding the key FOB of grand i10. I was driving my friend's i10 and I am not able to find any slot of the manual engine ignition using the manual key provided in the key FOB. Can you guys throw some light on this.
The key is only to unlock the car. To turn on the car, you gotta push the Engine ON button with the key fob itself. Then it'll turn on.

Well Im using 3d floor mats and I must say they are very good at keeping the dirt and muck away from the floor. They are shaped in such a way that you can easily remove them while cleaning and they also cover almost the entire carpet area of the floor. I got it for around 1.5k. Worth the price! [:)]
Thank you please mention the 3D name of the company.

Re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Asta (O) Petrol Ownership Review

Hi Everyone,

Got my 2nd free service done for my Grand 1.2 ASTA on 22 Oct 2014. My ODO was around 9400 when i got it done. On 18 Nov 2014 my car will be completing 1 year and that is why i decided to get the 2nd service done on Oct.

After the second service, things have changed and the car feels even more amazing to drive now.

Here are my observations.
1, Gear box settled and feels much smoother. Although still not smooth as i expect it to be. I still sometime feel the gear holds up while engaging.
2, head lights/fog lamps re-tuned to focus on center, much better driving at nights now. (This was done without consulting me, happy about it)
3, Clutch bite point is adjusted and its much easier to drive now. The brand new car had a clutch bite which was right at bottom and it took some time for me to get use to it. Now clutch bite point is almost at the end when the clutch get released completely. (This was done without consulting me, happy about it)
4, Over all performance of the engine is much better now and i believe it will keep getting better.

Expenses of my 2nd service.
1, Engine oil change.
2, Break oil change.
3, Some kinda filter change.
4, Wheel balancing and aligning.
5, Complete 3M indoor washing cleaning and antibacterial treatment including AC vents. The car smelling fresh all the time now and it smells like candy.
6, Shock observes adjustments.

In total 5.2K.

Hi pmdsp,

First of all congratulations on mile munching for one year !!

Can you elaborate on Clutch Bite adjustment? I did not get what was happening earlier and what you are experiencing right now. Secondly, why have they done it in first place without consulting you?

I have driven few cars and most of the cars clutch bite was either in the middle or at the end when you release the clutch.

The above photo illustrates the bite points perfectly.
My brand new Grand i10 had the bite point rite on the bottom. It was not easy at the beginning to get use to.
Another thing about this car was as soon as the clutch comes in contact with gear the car moves with a decent speed without accelerating. Some cars don't move till we push the accelerator.

After the second service the bite point has changed and now its on top just before the clutch is released completely. I feel this bite position is much better and there is a very less chance of my car turning off due to fast releasing of clutch.

My Hyundai Grand i10 Asta (O) Petrol Ownership Review

The only draw back with this is the clutch could burn out faster if you keep accelerating while there is a long way for the clutch pedal to travel before its fully engaged.they did the same change to mine during the second service without asking and I was very disappointed. With my style of driving it resulted in the car jerking forward. Surprisingly the clutch has now settled to a mid position by itself without having to adjust and is very comfortable.not at the bottom not at the top but just about midway! works for me.

Based on your information i will ensure that A.S.S should not adjust my clutch bite while doing 2nd service. I am comfortable with Grand i10's original clutch bite point.

5.2 k is pretty expensive. I paid 2.5k..I didn't get any 3m washing and antibacterial cleaning and shock absorber adjustment.its a ploy by a.s.s to mint more money. One more thing is wheel alignment and balancing is it mandatory at 10k kms or is it recommend?

For normal free services i was getting charged 2.5K (parts and materiel expenses, labor is free) but other things like balancing/cleaning and other stuff built the total to 5.2K.

Spending 5.2K during the services is ok (once in an year). Because the car got cleaned in and out completely including the engine. Interiors looks brand new and smells amazing.

Wheel balancing, alignment and wheels swapping back to front and front to back is very important. It should be done every 5K ODO. If this is not done a single Tyre will worn out very quickly. To extend the tyres life its a must.

Try driving without holding the staring wheel if the car starts to drift left/right or starts vibrating when on high speed then its an indication that balancing and aligning is needed.

To be honest the amount of time i use to engage the clutch has reduced after this change and it feels much better driving the car now. Technically speaking this should extend the clutch plate life. I recommend everyone to get this change done.
