Re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Asta (O) Petrol Booked & Delivered

Glad to know that your family and esp the baby is safe. I can well understand what you must have felt as I too have a 1 year old and my heart comes to my mouth whenever some aggressive guy tailgates me.

Kudos to you for offering water despite the fault being the Alto guy's. Your G-i10 has taken the hit quite well.

The damage doesn't look much - I'm sure you can get an independent garage guy to get some quickfix. If not, I'd have gotten a replacement bumper - NCB be damned, I won't want my new car to bear a bruise so soon.

PS: highway overtaking will get better after the engine has run-in.

Re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Asta (O) Petrol. 1000Kms & Banged (Details on Page 5)

Sorry to hear about the incident..It should be devastating plus this being a new car, you should have felt really bad...

Check what would be the total cost. If it is less then you can go for out of pocket expense rather damaging your NCB and you have to pay to some amount as a insurance fee for every claim.

Also what did the Alto guy do finally. People (morons) like them should take responsibility since it is their mistake and they should pay for the entire damage.

Similar incident happened to me in chennai and it was a driver of a matador van and the estimated damage was Rs 5000, the guy responsible for the mishap agreed to pay Rs 3000 for the damage.

Parth, am really sorry about the accident as well happy that your family is doing well especially the 6 month old kido.

My sincere advice would be, don't bother about ncb and all. Pls visit the HASS and fix it with them and claim insurance (obviously when you go to HASS they will simple replace it even thought it can be repaired) and make it perfect.

Thanks for those kind words guys.

Even I am also thinking of the same.

How much is this insurance fee?

Well I could not claim anything from the alto guy as he had used that cheap/smart trick of pain to gain peoples' sumpathy.
How did you deal with the matador driver?

Yes,thinking on same lines but the HASS will respond to me after confirmation of the parts availability. Any idea of approximately what could be the cost? and how much i might have to pay from pocket?

I am not sure about the insurance fee as it depends on the insurer.

I was pretty harsh on the driver as he caused a big dent on my boot and the same sympathy issue was there, but i just ignored that as the people who show their sympathy are not going to come and help you at any cost.

I asked the guy to park his vehicle and i took his key with me and drove him to the nearest TATA authorized dealer (my car was TATA Indica) and got the official estimate and asked him to pay for the entire amount. After negotiation he said he would pay Rs 3000. Only when I received the cash, I gave him back his van key.

Parth1231, Sorry to hear about the accident. By the grace of God glad to note that there were no injuries, especially given the fact that your baby was on board.

When driving in a situation where you seem to lose your confidence when you see some moron tail gating you, I suggest you immediately put the hazard lights on, after about 10 seconds do one of the following:
- change lanes if possible and get out of the way
- let the moron who is tailgating you overtake you, in case you see him take that initiative

If you're not able to change lanes, maintain low speed, try to keep your speed consistent. Gradually slow down since it is difficult to maintain higher speeds.

If the weather is bad you need to anticipate such situations and turn on the hazard lights ahead of time.

Thanks rafian & CMS, Yes slowing down and forcing the tailgater to overtake seems to be the sensible option in such case, wish I could rewind and do that[anger].

Please ask the dealer if any accessories are available?
If possible please click some pictures of seat cover options available.
