re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Petrol Ownership Review

That is horrible experience buddy. I had faced couple of times this problem with my sparky but not this worse. Happy nothing major happened.

But stalling in 100 KMs! is it possible will it happen? Just curious.
I know its not possible but you can take that also into account. My point is why not to have a separate ( Like battery operated) system for power brakes? Or if not this why cant power brake behave as normal brakes in case of engine shutdown?

re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Petrol Ownership Review

Friends, yesterday I got to have the horrible experience of power brakes. Though its totally related to my lack of skilled driving but still i can blame poor low end torque of grand and the new technology for this.

I would like to know your take on power brakes. Are they really good as compare to the conventional brakes? Yesterday I was going to the basement parking lot of a building. There were two routes on a highly declined slope (28 degree) and by mistake I went to the exit route. When I was reversing it up to the slope car engine halted and I lost braking. My car started rolling down uncontrollably. I tried brakes but they became hard and didn’t work. It was a scary sight and suddenly I got back to my senses and pulled hand brake. With hand brake fully engaged car rolled down further by 2 meters or so. It was a horrific experience for me. What if while cruising on a highway with a speed of like 100 km/h engine stalls and your braking ability fails?
Mate we thought GRAND has better torque in everse than fist gear[surprise] isnt it?
Regarding power brakes normally it should allow you 3 presses after the engine stop. Its a scary thing though[roll]

Yes parth it does have better torque for reverse gear but the slope was too steep and over that I too wasnt too good with these situation. Just think of reversing a car on a slope of 30 degrees. Not that easy for me [confused] Should have used hand brake I feel. My sincere advice to all members use only lower gears on steep slopes as my father used to tell me 6 years back
" Use the same gear to descend what you use to climb to be safe".

This is true with all modern cars that have power brakes. You should press the brakes harder (very hard) when you want to brake with the engine off. In most cases the brakes would have power for up to 2-3 presses. Beyond that it's workout time for your right foot.

Let's not blame it on i10 Grand or Hyundai for that matter.

Is it so? Can we get it confirmed officially? Anyway its always good to have one more coat.
Here are some photos i took. I noticed it when i was washing my car, felt the bubbly surface and though it could be a bad paint job but it turns out to be an anti rust coating. Starts after the red line.

If you look beneath right after the paint job ends you can see a rubber coating. I will try to get some shots tomorrow.

What type of clutch is provided in grand, it's cable type or Hydraulic type[roll]?
The clutch is a cable type. If you open the bonnet its located on right side of the engine at the bottom.

Guys,

Please read my previous post and do tell that when should we claim insurance and when shall we get the repair work done by ourselves. How does claiming insurance affect your premiums and future claims.
Hello,
it is manual or auto transmission?

I think every modern car has this adjustment. But the OP must be referring for manual adjustment in Head light assembly.

Even that is my observation:
I dont know who is that engineer who thought its a nice feauture.

Once Engine turned off Brakes are useless after 3-4 secs its highly dangerous.
Handbrake wont come to senses at all at that moment

Add on i feel deisel grand i10 reverse gear has very less power, i struggled a lot on steep surfaces :(

Are you talking about manually adjusting the front lights? Have you got any issue with the stock settings?

That dial is to set the intensity of the front lights.
0 - Front light only visible to driver.
1 - Front light only visible to driver and the front passenger.
3 - Front light visible to everyone onboard.
