re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Petrol Ownership Review

Hi guys...!!!
I am Dhruv Patel from Vadodara.
Seriously confused between Ritz lxi and Grand i10 era petrol. (my 1st car)
Took a test drive of both. Almost decided to go for Grand i10 because of some features and looks and interiors.
But, somewhere in my mind I am afraid to buy a car other than Maruti Suzuki.
Is Ritz is more fuel efficient than Grand i10?? (I have heard that K12 engine is lot better in terms of Fuel economy than Kappa 1.2)
Please help...!!!

Grand i10 era wont have much features and so is ritz lxi. As far as fuel economy is concerned everyone seems to be satisfied here with constant 12-13 in city with AC and 15-17 on highway. If you compare both, grand has more space and a fresh look. Ritz is no doubt a great performer but it depends upon the individual to decide. In both the cases you will be happy. cheers.

No it doesnt have a reverse horn.

Hi parth, Anshul

As I asked earlier, Do you also feel the low low end torque of grand. I mean when car is idling on a low inclined slope and after 2 minutes i try to get it moving, it demands a lots of efforts and frequently stalls. I initially thought its just my bad driving but then today dealer told me that few customers have complained of low pickup and got their ECU tuned after which they are happy.

My question is if i too go for the same will it bring down the FE as ECU will be tuned for higher power.

Hi I did not notice any behaviour so far, actually I didnt idle on an inclined except for some deliberate trials in my office basement parking. But apart from this no pulling issues in regular stop and go traffic. will keep a deliberate watch on this henceforth.

Anyways we can get used to use acceleration under such situations rather than retuning ECU,what do u think?

yes i too feel the same, it would definitely mar the smile which comes on the face after seeing good FE of a car whose ancestor :lol!: was slammed for horrible FE.

I think I will get used to it but here in hyderabad I am frequently observing it in stop and go traffic, even if the slope is marginal I have to use a lot of clutch work to get the car moving. This was one of the major problem with honda brio as that would totally refuse to move. What i observed is that reverse gear is having better power than first gear.
Parth, you can see a review on team bhp where one owner has called grand a white rabbit. I search 'grand 10 asta hte white rabbit.'.
Any suggestion for a hassle free start on such situation?

New bee alert,

Hi Guys,

Proud owner of a Grand i10 - Asta 1.2

I been watching this thread from 2 weeks but due to my busy schedule never had time to share my opinion. Manage to get some time today so here it goes.

* Battery draining issue. (Since the is pretty hot issue with Grand picked it first)

Didn't knew about the battery draining issue when i took the delivery on Nov-18. Brought the car home Parked it in the parking straight for 5 days. Started the car on 6th day, with just a push of a button the engine was ON without any hiccups. After driving the car to my parents and return, left the car in parking for 5 more days, during these 5 days i was going through many grand i10 threads here and some other website and came across the battery draining issue [surprise]. Honestly i was sad after reading the comments on Hyundai's fb page.

Started the car again on 6th day it started on single push of a button, very happy at this moment but now I'm thinking "Whats gone happen if i leave the car untouched for more than 7 days, it can't be an keyless entry/start problem, this is not the first time Hyundai is introducing this technology it was there already in i20". Drove the car again to my parents and return, this time the car was standing idle for almost a week. 2nd - 7th-Dec. Started it on 8th-Dec and again no issue started with push of a button.

Hope Hyundai has sorted the issue with new models. I will keep this thread updated.

* Riding quality.

Me and My wife absolutely love this car. Ride quality is smooth on both city/highway. Driven it 120Km/h on highway and this car just floats, in fact i did not even notice i was doing 120 until i saw the speedometer. With AC on i never felt tired driving this car. Noise cancelation inside the cabin is really superb, my 9 month old baby sleeps peacefully throughout the journey. Never heard/felt any vibration from the engine during idle/running. Parents were very happy with the space at back and Rear AC vents cooled the backseats very fast.

* FE.

Although i have yet try the Full tank to Full tank method, with the help of the trip computer and refuel indicator ON i was getting around 17 on highway with AC. My driving style is decent and i prefer changing the gears on 2000Rpm although the gear shift indicator fires up around 2100 - 2200Rpm.

* Features.

Outstanding features best in its class. Filled with many features here are my favourites.
1, Key less Entry/Start stop button. (Key always stays in my packed. Use the button in door opener to lock/unlock the car.
2, Folding mirrors.
3, Leather rapped steering with mounted remote controls.
4, Rear AC vents.
5, Press button dicky opening and its available space.
6, Rever parking censers.
7, Ipod connectivity through built in USB/bluetooth and 2x 12V charger ports.
8, Cooled glove box, water bottle space in all 4 doors and back seat legroom.
9, Built in music system. (Sound quality is decent)

Accessories i got with this car.
1, Rubber mats.
2, Cheap Perfume. (All i can smell inside the car is the smell of a new car)
3, Idol.

Accessories that i brought.
1, Car cover.
2, Transparent mats.

This car comes with Anti rust coating (visible on the metal just below the doors). I'm planning to get one more coat done.

Things i thought that were not up to the mark.
1, Speedometer is not accurate +5 Km/h higher than the correct speed. Compared it with my iPhone app.
2, 5th wheel is not an alloy.
3, Felt the clutch was very soft, took some time to get use it.

At beginning i thought of writing my own review but later i thought it would be very helpful for people planning to buy this car if they can find most of the information under single thread.

Here are some photos. Cheers [cheers]

Its also good to know that your car does not have battery problem.

Congrats buddy [clap] and yes its best to have all discussion related to petrol grand limited to one thread. As parth had started it I too thought of continuing with this only.

Is it so? Can we get it confirmed officially? Anyway its always good to have one more coat.

re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Petrol Ownership Review

Friends, yesterday I got to have the horrible experience of power brakes. Though its totally related to my lack of skilled driving but still i can blame poor low end torque of grand and the new technology for this.

I would like to know your take on power brakes. Are they really good as compare to the conventional brakes? Yesterday I was going to the basement parking lot of a building. There were two routes on a highly declined slope (28 degree) and by mistake I went to the exit route. When I was reversing it up to the slope car engine halted and I lost braking. My car started rolling down uncontrollably. I tried brakes but they became hard and didn’t work. It was a scary sight and suddenly I got back to my senses and pulled hand brake. With hand brake fully engaged car rolled down further by 2 meters or so. It was a horrific experience for me. What if while cruising on a highway with a speed of like 100 km/h engine stalls and your braking ability fails?

That is horrible experience buddy. I had faced couple of times this problem with my sparky but not this worse. Happy nothing major happened.

But stalling in 100 KMs! is it possible will it happen? Just curious.
