re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Petrol Ownership Review

Well thats and interesting observation - "IMO" [evil], I tend to say so because I am myself not an expert with a huge driving experiance with multiple rides and hence not being judgmental.

I somehow feel that experts and senior members from TAI have not found this thread interesting enough to comment and help new GRAND owners. Except sethumurugan )
Strange isn't it??

Anyways, Ritz is also my favourite over Swift- I liked spot on driving position and visibiliy due to its toll boy design. Wife didn't even consider it due to the rear shape and poor interiors.
GRAND offers a very good overall package for the price so we chose GRAND. I still miss a few things though, even on the top end -
1) No 60:40 split seats
2) No adjustable front head rest
3) Auto door locks??
4) ABS badging missing?
5) DRLS (Hyundai can offer it on sportz I20 then why not ASTA GRAND?[frustration])
Hey parth, I have still not found about speed sensing door locks but yes, door do get auto locked if key is out of the vehicle for more than 5 mins. Mirrors also get folded on their own after 5 minutes ( didnt calculate time but yes they do get locked after sometime). Check it. I observed it 2-3 times.

@threeace777 our accidents happened not because of our poor visibilty but because the people behind us are a55holes who don't take due care.
Well said buddy. if not me but all three of you were 100% victims. I was 50% responsible I feel [roll]

Sorry for the confusion- I meant speed sensing door locks only.[roll]

There are rules in developed countries that parking is not allowed at junctions gates etc, as it reduces visibility. Its a shame that India has no such rules.

re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Petrol Ownership Review

What was the process like? Any documentation etc.?
My first Service was also due, Hence left the vehicle with the Service Center and collected it later. There was no extra documentation needed. I cannot comment on the procedure, the consultant told me it took less than 5 min for the software updation.

Great! Did you opt for the software update?or did they call you to get the software upgrade?
I got the call from the Roadside Assistance guys, since they were aware of the problem with my Car and had come to jumpstart the vehicle.

I understand from the Service Consultant that all those cars in the showroom which required Software updation were updated. Technicians from Hyundai , in Chennai . came down and did the updation and from next week onwards the Service Center guys will be equipped to do it on their own, I was told.

re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Petrol Ownership Review

hi mates, below is what I copied from thread : http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...-maruti-ritz-vs-hyundai-grand-i10-petrol.html

Just for the sake of healthy debate as I found some discussion above in the same line..Please correct and add if any..

Maruti Ritz Vs Hyundai Grand i10 (Petrol)
Ritz Zxi Advantages:
Ritz is a tall boy design (better ingress/egress), Airy Cabin, Higher Seating position (good overall view), thicker and supportive seat, Front Seats Rear pockets, under parcel tray (co-passenger side), adjustable headrests (front & rear), the great K Series engine (powerful, smooth and frugal with good gradeability), more informative MID, Rear Split Seat 60:40 (extended cargo space if needed), fairly robust body (Ritz 1030 Kg / heavier than Swift, Swift Dzire, Grand i10), Got NCAP rating (4 Star in Euro NCAP), Wider Tires (better stability), higher ground clearance (better Ramp Breakover angle to negotiate rough roads), better highway capabilities, Unique design and road presence, ABS+EBD+BA (Grand i10 has only ABS, no EBD+BA on Grand i10), Front ventilated Disc (reduced brake failure), Dual Horn (Grand i10 has single horn only), Rear Fog lamp (Grand i10 has no rear forg lamp), wider ORVMs, Speed Sensing auto door lock, Alloy Spare Wheel (Grand i10 is not giving alloy spare wheel) Audio Remote Control, Good turning radius, shorter bonnet (good for city driving), good discount (extends the VFM value), Maruti Service Network (easy to maintain), good resale value, proven machine (around for some time), rave reviews from owners (least complaints)

Grand i10 Asta (O) petrol Advantages:
Feature loaded - Dedicated rear A/C vent (first in segment), chilled glove box (quite useful), bluetooth, inbuilt media storage 1 GB (first in segment), push button start stop, luggage lamp, Gear shift indicator, engine running time, master switch on fuse board, Reverse parking sensor, cool dual tone interior, hooks for floor mats, Integrated turn indicators on ORVMs, chrome outside door handles, cute and neutral design, roof rails, electrically foldable ORVMs, larger boot 256 L (Ritz has only 236 L), more legroom for the rear passengers, newest in the segment (Ritz around for some time), customized fairly to local requirements and taste, good initial reviews by auto magazines, exciting sales figures ...

Please correct or add if any..

Both cars are good. Two of the best hatchbacks in India with its positives and negatives. Take TD back to back and choose the car you are more comfortable with...cheers..

@ parth

(again no offense to seniors on the forum)

but i only see the owners discussing and resolving problems on there own and with the tenure i've spent with TAI i know that there are seniors capable enough to help out with queries however only observed sethu giving feedbacks and helping out honestly

sethu [clap] appreciation from heart for you my friend

Apologies for referring to you by your shortened TAI user names.

I am due take delivery in or around 16th of This month. sales guy has called and informed that the car has reached their stockyard. I had paid 50k booking amount and the sales guy is now pushing for another 50k in advance before PDI.

I am presently in.kolkata and will be buying the car from Noida where I am moving this month.I have asked the sales guy to send me the VIN and the chasis number and only then I will pay another advance of 50k.the rest of the amount only after PDI.

Am I going in the right way?sales guy is asking for 50k advance since I am not taking finance,he is trying to secure the sale. His logic is that if I pay another advance his superiors will not push him to sell it to someone else who might turn up with hard cash before I turn for the PDI!

No need for apologies buddy infact Kudos to you for figuring out correct names [:D]
As per your query , I was in similar dilemma as dealer was asking for 100% payment in advance before PDI. As soon as he got the car he asked me to make full payment. See there is no risk involved in it, Make payment and take genuine receipt. As far as make is concerned I dont think anyone has any grand in stock as demand is very high. They will give you a fresh batch car only but you tell him beforehand that you will only accept the car belonging to November or later batch. Transfer him money through RTGS if you cant personally go and take receipt. If you show hesitation he might give the car to anyone else as there is huge demand, and you might have to wait for one more month.

Its not making sense to ask extra amount on the sales persons part. And you are not taking loan is rather a crap reason to justify that. You are doing correct by asking for VIN. However you can politely tell the SA that no such thing was discussed earlier and hence you'll like to speak and "REQUEST" his manager not to sell the car to anyone else.

Parth, as he told that car has reached the stockyard, I dont think there should be anything to worry about. And of course he sudnt hesitate to give VIN. When I asked the sales guy for VIN he told he will tell later and requested me to make payment as next two days were holiday. When I went to showroom my name was written on their board with VIN number, even though I hadnt made the payment. Drawing a loan shows that you are definitely buying the car but keeping the car idle in stockyard for a week or so, mounts pressure on them. As I said take genuine receipt and go ahead.
Dealer's reputation is also on stake and if Lawyeronwheelz is not satisfied after PDI he can always refuse as it did not match his demands and ask for refunding his amount. isnt it?

'Drawing a loan shows that you are definitely buying the car but keeping the car idle in stockyard for a week or so, mounts pressure on them' this is exactly what my sales guy is telling me.I have no problem in paying another 50k as long as he gives me the VIN.

I too bought my car without loan and 50K booking amount.
Paid all the remaining amount at the time of delivery only. That too by cheque and it was nice on the part of the dealer to let me take delivery even though the cheques were not realized.
So it really varies from dealership to dealership how they operate.
Lawyeronwheelz buddy if the car is with him he shouldnt have any issue giving you the VIN.
