re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Petrol Ownership Review

In what circumstances you are over revving the engine?Like you are at a signal and want to move quickly?
That happened once when I was crossing a junction in second gear and suddenly saw a car coming from right angle, I wanted to pass as soon as possible to avoid possibility of getting too close to it. I pushed the gas pedal full without changing the gear as I had less time. Second When hand brake was engaged during parking and car wasnt moving so I over revved it in reverse gear.

Thanks for suggestions parth will try them.

-If you are using brakes and engine is about to stall you should use full clutch and downshift instead of using clutch and brake for a longer period.
This indeed is a good suggestion to use engine breaking power and not stalling it. Let us hope I follow it successfully.

By the way I would like to know how would you park your vehicle on a inclined slope? I find it difficult not to over rev the engine as if i dont do so, car doesnt move and stalls.

By this I assume that Your car is facing up the gradiant.
I tried this in my office parking lot,we have 2 store parking so I got enough slope there to try this (avoiding rush hours)
-Stop the car on slope-apply hand brake+clutch+brake.
-Shift to 1st gear and turn of if you want to park.
If you want to move on
-Apply clutch+brake be in 1st gear and remove hand brake.
-Slowly release clutch (with brake pedal fully pressed) and watch tachometer.
-After reaching one point the revs will come slightly down, this is the BITING POINT where you can balance the car on clutch.
-Keep the clutch pedal position same and release brake slowly so that you are confident the car is not moving back.
-Now you can switch to accelerator and move on.
After practising it couple of times it will be strain free.
You can also try this biting point on the flat, just everytime you start in 1st gear watch the tachometer without accelerating.

There is another method called Handbrake method which I am not very much comfortable with. But it is supposed to be good for the clutch.

Hope this helps.

Enquired about the battery issue with Grand i10 at capital Hyundai noida, the sales guy acknowledged that and said that the solution is to use the fuse and switch that off when leaving the car for over 4 to 5 days.that is the only solution.took a test drive and loved the smoothness of the kappa2.beautiful feel and the gear shifting is butter smoothe slots pretty well.the steering was too light for my liking.

Partha, vipin have you taken insurance from Hyundai as in their own insurance?I am planning of taking a zero dep insurance.

re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Petrol Ownership Review

Hi All,

First of all Thanks for TAI for allowing us to share our views.

Finally after a long research (~2.5 months), I booked and got my first car "Grand i10 Asta" last Friday

I had an option to book it in Bangalore and Mangalore, since I work here in Bangalore but basically from M'lore

I started with Sportz version and got two different (telephonic)quotes from Trident (6.1) & Advaith(6.7) in B'lore which had 6k difference!! [confused] So dropped Advaith and continued with Trident.

Here is the funny part, while enquiring in a cal, Trident offered mud flaps+ floor mats+perfume+idol free.. when visited the showroom, the guy said in a stiff tone "No Freebies " [anger]

Forgot to add one more thing, I was looking for a loan option, so was concentrated towards Blore Hyn dealers as it will be easy for me to process

My dad asked me to give a try in M'lore dealers and obeying his words gave me more 10k profit!!

Two M'lore dealers (Kanchana & Advaith) were quoting sportz for 5.91 and
dealer said me about new Asta version which was quoted 30k more than sportz version and they gave the banks details which can give me hassle free loans

And both were offering me all the freebies (mudflaps + mats+etc) And I started to ask some extra than these (Here comes the competition)
and

Booking Amt:
Adv: 50k ,
Kan: 5k !!!

Waiting period :

Adv: 1month
Kan: 1 week

I was totally wondering how such a difference !! and anyways got to know about cons of a huge booking amount through my friends and threads

So..

And at last, after huge discussion Kanchana hyundai, Sales executive offered me Anti rust coating (3 years warranty ) or Vinyl flooring for free! [:D]

And after discussion with my dad, I asked him to take a TD of petrol vehicle He was too happy by its performance, feature and I booked it exactly on 7th day of my booking, got a cal from dealer that my car has arrived, asked him to give me a PDI before registration, all went fine it went for registration, Anti rust coating was done.

Dad wanted the car to be vinyl floored (1800k) and Zero Dep insured (15k), so he did the same and

I got my new car Grand i10 Asta (6.35lkh)

I took from Dealer itself and he gave me that of HDFC ergo. Didnt have much knowledge regarding that and later came to know that ICICI lombard is better. [roll]
I also opted for zero depreciation but he played smart and told me HDFC ergo will cover 65% rest 35% will be covered by dealers own zero depreciation insurance and gave me his own insurance. You can take your own insurgence but as advised by others take it through dealer only.

Using fuse is not the actual solution, it is just isolating the battery from the car electronics. There is something which is draining the power of the battery. Hyundai should find out the cause and should rectify. I have been leaving by BRIO idle for weeks or for 14-15 days many times till now. But never faced this problem. It starts in first attempt always[:)].

Hi Guys..

Its better to go for zero dep insurance atleast when the car is new. Sadly my Grand got banged by a lorry and the damage cost came around 11k. All of it was covered by the ICICI Lombard zero dep which i bought directly from ICICI.

Buying through Hyundai will be costlier by 3-5k which is not justified. You can buy the cheapest zero dep from any of the agents. Competition making them work harder to get more sales and satisfaction among customers :)

Well thats an impressive deal you got, considering the fact that dealers are not ready to provide any freebies with GRAND.

Hi friends,
yet another issue I encountered today. I have to park my vehicle on a slop. Today while I removed hand break and tried to press BREAK pedal it simply didnt work and my car kissed the tree ahead. I was surprised why breaks didnt work while engine was off. I switched on the ignition and breaks were Normal again. I thought there was some problem with breaks but then I came across this

Hello,

I own an i20 1.2 Asta. I am facing a peculiar problem with brake. Once I switch off ignition, I feel brake is not working! After switching off ignition, if I press and release brake pedal around 3 times, it gets tightened. When I tried to apply a lot of force, brake pedal didn't move. And then I loose braking!! I rechecked this by keeping my car on a slightly inclined surface. Did any of the i20 owners face this problem?

Ravi
TAI is not allowing me to give URL of ******* (or there is some problem) somehow so I had to quote above [surprise]

Have you encountered the same?

Buddy IMO that is power brake behaviour and there is a caution in the user manual.
Do you park your car facing downward on slope?
and why would you remove handbrake before turning on the engine?
Did you try the brakes with power on in "ACC"" position without turning on the engine?

What is Hyundai insurance? I bought from dealer and its AEGON RELIGARE.

Yes..

I've observed that too..When the engine is off after pressing the break 2-3 times it gets locked and i can't press it again . [surprise]

I am not sure if it is something peculiar only to the Grand.

BTW never use the car on an inclination with engine off. The steering can lock and as you mentioned the breaks also work awkwardly so its a double whammy.
