Re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Asta (O) Petrol. 1000Kms & Banged (Details on Page 5)

No mine is petrol asta option. Have heard about good low end torque of kappa 2. What I observed once car gains a momentum on a free road I dont have to keep pressing accelerator in third gear even. It was moving on its own though wiith a constant speed. I remember how on maruti 800 I was always riding accelerator to maintain speed.[roll]

Dont know parth can tell.
Congrats for your GRAND buddy[clap].
Yes your observation is correct. Grand petrol pulls in second gear without accelerator. I have started loving this as I have to pass quite good distance to reach main road from my house and society. All I do is change 1st to second and steer[:D].
Did not try that with 3rd gear yet, will do that today.

I hope you have gone through the break-in instructions of the operator manual.

Partha, Vipin,

I am getting a bit worried about the batter discharge problem. Although I will be using my car daily, there would be times when it may stand idle for a week or so. In such cases is there a work around to this battery drain problem? Can we ask a car mechanic to remove the battery for the period the car stands idle?

you can do it yourself. Simply you have to remove either +ive/+ive point from the battery. It will be safe till you turn on your car on again.

This is true with most modern ECU controlled MPFI cars. Even with my Sparky, there is no need for accelerator input on 3rd gear. I can use her like on cruise control mode[glasses]. The car maintains minimum revs to prevent stalling.

Congrats on your car Vipin.. Have fun driving the rev happy Kappa engine :) How do you find the noise insulation in the petrol version ? Is the engine silent or does it have some grunt esp. in lower gears ?
Can you also post the pics of your car seats ?

Does anyone of you use Vacuum cleaner to get rid of the dust ? I am l looking for one if it can help manage dust on the dashboard and seat upholstery..

Meanwhile my Grand is undergoing further repairs and should be ready in a couple of days. Attaching the lasest pics after the 2nd paint job.

Or you can simple open the fuse box and turn the main switch to OFF position.
20 mins after this, all major power supplies will be cut off.
For ex.
-YOu can not turn on you car , it will show a FUSE ON indicator on MID.
-YO can not open car with smart key, have to use manual key to open the door.

Fantastic job friend. Hope when finally everything is fixed you will not even believe that the car had such a damage. Good Job. I belive always A.S.S is the best for such big jobs even though it is costly. If it is small one you can think of others.

BTW regarding your query on vacuum cleaner, you can go either for a small one which cost you around 2k to 3k. Or you can go for bigger one why you can use it for your home as well for your car.

Pls go thru the my post, http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...-how-do-you-clean-your-car-14.html#post344281 for some info.

Thanks for the suggestion[:)]

This appears to be a more practical solution. Where is the Fuse Box located in the grand 10? Is Hyundai giving a manual key along with the smart key? Parth, this means if you had switched off the connection to fuse, when your car was parked for a week, you could have avoided jump starting the car? Am i right?

I hope you have gone through the break-in instructions of the operator manual.
No I did not read in the excitement of driving it and once reved it to the red zone in second gear[frustration] as I cudnt change gear during a u turn. Will it hurt even if I do it only once.
[cry]
What are breakin instructions parth? I am outta hyderabad so dont have manual with me.

Or you can simple open the fuse box and turn the main switch to OFF position.
Yes I did the same. Let us see what happens once I get back and restart the engine.

Buddy.. I did not hear any noise creeping into cabin while window closed even in first gear but yes it was there when glasses were rolled down. Insulation I feel damn good as again and again I was pressing start button by mistake coz of absence of noise even when engine was running.
I will post seat cover pics on 22 after reaching hyderabad. My wife didnt like the colour of the seats though. As per her it wasnt matching as its in light shade and she wanted dark ones.

Yes may be I could have avoided it.
The fuse box is located below the steering wheel. Where your right knee is.
I will post a picture for you.

Thanks for the details Sethu even I am looking for one. Have you tried this?

No breakin required however they recommend.
Not to race beyond 3-4k rpm
Not to idle the engine for more than 3 mins during initial periods
For better fuel economy.
