Hi all,
I have one query to ask. I have to take delivery of grand i10 asta(o) on 14. As I have to make payment via cheque, dealer is asking me handing over cheque 2 days before delivery so that it can be cleared. he says once the cheque is cleared then only he will call me for PDI and temporary registration.
Is it OK to give him cheque. What steps should I take to avoid any possible trouble if any.
Please help. Thanks...

You can handover the cheque to the dealer and proceed for the PDI. Asking for clearance of cheque before PDI is too much. I have made the full payment only after PDI through RTGS.

So what benefit do I get If i do PDI beforehand and not take delivery. What if The two cars ( the one I have done PDI for and the one I am taking delivery of) are different at the time of delivery. Once the cheque is cleared, what can we do if we are not satisfied with the car we are taking delivery of.

Have you finished the pre-registration inspection. If that is so, you can make the full payment. Dealer will not deliver the other car, that much faith you can keep on dealer. However don't do full payment before the pre-registration.

When you do the PDI note the VIN and tally that at the time of actual delivery,that's what I have done earlier.I am scheduled to get my asta on December.Have informed the sales guy that I will pay the remaining amount only post PDI.

@parth can you tell me how to locate the VIN in the grand i10 and how to read it.Is it the same as maruti?

Guys I was away for Diwali vacations.
Sorry to hear about that incident buddy. I can understand the pain.
After the incident when my car was banged I am still having trouble trusting others on road. everytime I drive around I feel nervous as it is my first time.

In my case I had no issues with HASS,they dealt the insurance company and everything. I had to replace the bumper and there was major denting work on the underbody. It cost @11K. I had to pay 50% of the bumper price. I am yet to get the details of expenses as the insurance company had not cleared dealers payment.

I am afraid you have any chance to get it done aftermarket because of the unique colour. Please give HASS fair enough time to work, a hurried paint job might not be very perfect.

Please check all the sensors and lights when you pickup your car.

Hi,

Has anyone fitted a single DIN head Unit in their Grand i10? I went to couple of places in banglore but all of them refused to fix it as it will leave scratch marks on that beige dashboard panel while removing it. They were unable to find a way to take out the panel without leaving any visible marks.

Also here is my fuel efficiency report of my 1 month old grand i10 magna :

Already done 1400 km with Always AC on and within Bangalore city, Fuel efficiency has been consistently around 12.5. Measured using Full tank-to-full tank method multiple number of times.

Thats really encouraging with full ac on and in city traffic...

Forgot to mention the fuel type, my grand i10 magna is petrol one. yes its FE encouraging as my previous car 'plain Old i10 kappa' gave FE of 9 before first service and 11-12 in later years.
hope my grand i10 FE also improves after service

those are encouraging figures[:D].
By the way how do you judge tank to tank? I mean the empty tank position? is it based on the analogue indicator?

FE can't be judged by the fuel gauge indicator so the method i used -

1. With any level of existing fuel, fill up full tank.
2. reset the trip A to zero
3. drive for some days/weeks.
4. fill up full tank again from the same petrol bunk.
5. Note down the litres filled(say 20 litres)
6. Note down the Trip A reading(say 240 km)
7 FE = trip meter reading / Litres filled to make the tank full again. i.e(240/20 = 12)

Repeat these steps few more times. Also note while doing full tank ensure you don't go for top-up.

I’m really shocked to see the damage, it’s a new car. Even my new car (Verna) got a scratch just after the delivery day by a stupid rikshwa driver and I can understand the pain.

In these like cases police don’t help, if you’ve power then you can workout otherwise you have to walkout with small penalty amount. I have seen many cases with our all family cars. Legal don’t help in these like incidents. About the fixing like other said get it done from a good authorize service center and best is which one is under the dealer from where you took the car. Good Sales guy helps even after selling the car. I think with this damage you will get full coverage by insurance and if you have a cash less insurance (most of the new Hyundai car got these days) then less worry, just leave the car at ASC and they will take care all. And I think fixing these damage could take around a week. And they will not change any panels I think, as the damage is not much. And don’t worry after the job done it will be like new again.

Hi All..

So the total expense of my damaged car came to be 22,000 Rs. Since i got the zero dep. insurance 95% of it is being covered. It will take 15 days minimum to procure the part and then fix it since parts haven't yet reached the service people . The Fender will be replaced and repainted and the door will go through a denting job and repaint although i am pushing for replacement only .

Fender charges will be around 15k and Door is around 6k

@Autowiz - 12 is really good efficiency in Bangalore. Which part of the city you drive in ? I am getting 10.5-11 kmpl in the Old Airport area . 60% driving is in 2nd gear and 30% in 3rd.

Also do you face any issues with car being noisy esp. in lower gears ? I think mine is a noisy cabin atleast in the 2nd gear .
