@parth, I understand that one can unlock the car by pressing that small black switch even when the key is 4-5 feet away from the car.is that true? can someone start the engine by pressing the start stop button without the key being inside the grand i10?

Re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Asta (O) Petrol. 1000Kms & Banged (Details on Page 5)

Great review. I had a test drive of petrol Grand i10 and I really liked engine response. Suspension is way better than my old i10. Even I'm planning to buy Grand i10 Petrol

Only thing is I don't find Grand i10 as fun to drive as swift but anyways we won't get everything in a single package

I have read many reviews on the smartkey both in here and other forums as well.

You cannot start the engine without the key inside the car. The key should be in the vicinity of the front seats. The car will not start if the key is with the rear seat passenger.
You cannot lock the car from outside if the key is inside the car.

Excellent choice. Do keep us updated on your buying experience and start your ownership thread once you have the car.

btw can you tell me which is good service center in Chennai? As far as I heard HMP@Guindy seems to be good?

If I buy from a dealer (for Eg: HMP) and give service to HMP then will I have priority over other car owners who buy from other dealer? HMP told me that they will give priority to HMP customers over others. Is it true?

Also I would like to know is there any maintenance package which takes care of all service costs?

Earlier when I had i10 I had an option to buy maintenance package along with car which takes care of all expenses upto 3 yrs but I sold my car within 6 months due to poor ride quality and poor low end torque (that was Kappa 1 engine)

Hi. The range is close to 2ft. And its not possible to start the car
Without key being inside. If you leave the key inside its not possible to
Lock the car,It makes buzzing sound.

On the MID display there is a key inside car indicator.

Hi All..

Today a lorry banged my i10 from behind [confused] . My vehicle was still on a red light signal when a lorry on the back tried to get in front from a tight space on the right and completely screeched my right door panel and rear .

Don't know whether this will be covered in insurance and what would be cost of this as imo it will require a panel change and a paint job :( .

Parth - What about your experience with the insurance and Hyundai dealers ?

Experts - Any idea on how much this damage would cost and what will it involve ? I am also worried regarding the time taken as its a new car and parts and paint availability may hinder the process !!

Man that is very bad of that lorry driver. Yes they are real morons and all those commercial truck drivers always drive like that. Even in Chennai they do the same.

If you are changing the panel am sure it might take time. But to my knowledge you need not to worry about the spares availability (panel/paint) am 100% sure HASS will be able to source it and do the needful.

Regarding insurance, Except for those plastic parts everything can be replaced. And since your car is New insurance part may be higher and you might end be up sponsoring less. Pls check with them.

As seeing the damage i think it just needs denting and painting and no change of parts. As your bumber has not been damaged so the panel needs just denting and painting and i think if you make it do without insurance than it should not cost you more than 4k.

Just checked with HASS... the rear fender will need to be replaced as there are 2 holes on it and a repaint job ...that itself is costing around 12.5k [frustration]

Door will require a denting job and a repaint - 5k for that.

I am awaiting for the insurance guy to do a checkup . One more question.. what happens first ? Do the Hyundai guys give an estimate of the cost of repairs and then the insurance guy comes for checkup or should i first wait for the insurance inspection before keeping my car away for a week in Hyundai's warehouse ?

Thnks a lot

The inspection takes place at hyundai sc itself. You have to give insurance copy + car's Rc + a driver's license to them. They will inform the insurance agent to come and inspect the car. After inspection hyundai guys will do the necessary work. It will take atleast 3 days to get the car.

i tried my best.. I was in the police station from 2pm till 9pm and frankly speaking i have lost faith in the system authorities. All i could manage was 4k from the truck owner [anger]

Firstly we had language issues he could n't understand hindi/english and i couldn't understand Kannada. The owner was adamant either take 4k or file a case. On contacting the Police i was told that if you file i case you'll have to keep the vehicle there till someone from RTO inspects it and i had to reach bangalore by today morning for important meetings[anger]

Also the police told that lorry owner will need to pay around 3-4k even if a court case is registered and since the entire incident at the junction and the way police were handling this pissed me off. So i just took what i got and returned back.

Sorry about you car, but at least you got something. Also thankyou for pointing out that if you file a case, you have to leave your car there until it gets inspected. I did not know this.

Now for you, my bumper was damaged, I was told by HASS approx Rs6k for replacing and repainting. I was told it needs three coats. As the bumper is still out of stock, mine is still damaged.

So please recheck the cost.

Its really sad, The way police handles all this. Couldn't they see that you were on a red light and you had nothing to do in that. They must have milked some money from the truck owner as well.
More than anything it really hurts seeing your new car in this condition. Sheer bad luck.
The whole system is corrupt.

I saw your post yesterday itself and felt really very bad[cry] being in Bangalore i know it is a pain to drive in cities like bangalore and worst part is only common man have to suffer even if mistakes are of others. But i have one request to those who can teach a lesson or two to such careless driver don't leave them at any cost.

Police men are always hopeless don't know when we can expect justice from our judicial system[frustration].
