Carwale mentions gi10 sports has avg fuel consumption meter. Is this true? I have not seen it in my car.

I also saw a review video of UK Gi10 where it had avg fuel meter saying 6L petrol consumed / 100 km & then we had to calculate avg per .
Hello Maulik,
Indian version of Grand i10 does not have fuel consumption meter. Neither it has range(distance to empty) feature in the DIS.
The euro spec version might have that feature. OEM keeps on varying such feature as per their considerations of the market.
The instrument console we have in our grand i10, also has a provision for Fuel consumption, if you look close into the console you may find it, but it has not been activated for Indian market.

AFAIK, the features in the Grand i10 DIS you are conveying here might be:-
1. Engine running time
2.Avg. speed of the vehicle. IMHO
I also have a MY 2015 Grand i10, and the above DIS feature which you have mentioned are completely absent in my vehicle. I would be thankful, if you can share the image of the feature you are talking about, in your Grand i10.
Thanks

no. what i am saying is, i see a 'timer icon' and 'fuel icon' most probably stating the time in which the fuel will get over.

The instrument console we have in our grand i10, also has a provision for Fuel consumption
so this can be enabled using GScan ??

There is no Avg fuel or DTE indicator in grand i10. In fact Hyundai is notorious for not giving this simple info in many of it's models. It can't be enabled but you don't need the costly GScan to see the data. Simple OBDscanner like Super Mini ELM 327 paired with mobile app like Torque is enough to give all the data.

Hello rselva,
I am using the ELM 327 in my petrol Grand i10 since long.
It is an amazing device to use.
Can you throw some light, as what should be the accurate MPG trim for our cars.
I have set it 1.12, still i am not convinced by the fuel efficiency shown by ELM 327 on the torque app.
Thanks

Have you selected Imperial Gallon in setting? What is the Volumetric efficiency setting ? (Is it 85% or 75%). Check that you have the correct Fuel type.

Hi guys

Where can I purchase the Super Mini ELM 327 from?

From all the 2015 variants of Grand i10 burglar alarm has been removed from the features. Anyone knows the cost to fit a new security system from HASS? I would also like my car to Horn while door lock is enabled / disabled like it's in i20 elite Asta variants or Polo cars!

Can anyone please let me know where is the OBD2 reader slot in grand i10?

i tried obd 2 app torque on my i10 asta(o) petrol. its so useful especially because hyundai didn't give a distance to empty. if u wanna know more about it feel free to ask.
Please let me know where is the port/slot to insert the OBD2 reader in Grand i10. Also let me know the model which you had tried. Will be most helpful if you can share some pics with OBD2 reader inserted in your car.

It's just below the steering wheel! On your right side. Just open up the fuse box on right and there you can see the OBD2 port.

EDIT : I sometimes feel people don't read manuals!

Hi Guys,

Re : Infamous battery drain issue in Sep 2013 to Dec 2013 Gi10 models

As most of the older members following this thread will be aware that my G10 manufactured around Nov 2013 was amongst the unlucky batches. Whenever the car has been garaged for more than 5 to 6 days the battery would inevitably be drained. The last time I checked after the software update the battery would still die even after switching off the main fuse.

So after I had covered about 20 k kilometres sometime earlier this year I found another issue, a slight krr..krr..krr sound from the dashboard when the car reached 80km plus and a fluctuating rpm even on idle with the AC on. Early this month I had driven down to Shimla so I had decided to get the issue checked before I made the long journey. The service advisor diagnosed a faulty AC Compressor! and got it changed under warranty. There is no krr..krr.krr sound now and the rmp needle doesnt fluctuate, the cooling seems to have improved.

Now mid October I went home for Durga Puja for about 2 weeks and I knew that by the time I would be back I would have to call the road side assistance for a jump start, this had become a routine for me and I had succumbed to my fate of living with the battery drain issue. I have not been giving it much importance since I drive the car almost daily and the car hardly sits for more than 5 days, which leaves me with this battery drain issue not more than twice in a year. This time before leaving I had diligently switched off the main fuse and upon return unlocked the car with the manual key, opened the fuse box and switched on the main fuse, as expected the intruder alarm went on. Knowing the next step I half heartedly made an attempt to turn on the ignition and to my utter surprise the car started on the first attempt!

I am just left wondering did i finally end up beating the battery drain issue? Have any of you from the old Gi10 batches faced something like this?

The other thing is that suddenly after the last service my fog lamps arent working although the fog lamp indicator on the instrument console lights up. Is this a blown fuse?

It is probably a blown fuse only or may be due to pressure wash, it might be possible that wiring connection might have become loose. The washing people at almost every ASC have this ignorance towards the right way of washing the vehicle. The water pressure is high from the hose hence, direct spray of water often makes this happen. Precisely 8 times my Esteem's fog lamp have been repaired. Of which if I remember 3 times it was loose wiring. And twice the loosing wiring happened within 24 hours of service.

Thanks Akash! It suddenly stopped working after the service and your explanation seems spot on. I will be taking it to the service centre tomorrow and have the issue checked and resolved

Re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Petrol Ownership Review

Hi hallovipin

Really glad and relieved to read that you didn't face any challenge with the battery. Just one clarification, shutting the master switch deactivates theft alarm also? If that's the case, it then defeats the purpose of having one [frustration]! Any solution? Thanks.
Hi Nitin,
You are right once you switch off Master Switch security features are diabled. It was an old post. Subsequently I have left my car idle for 15 days without switching off master switch and guess what it started with a single touch. No issue whatsoever. I think the issue is with the first 3 batches i.e. sept to nov13 of grand i10 only.
