Hi Guys,
Re : Infamous battery drain issue in Sep 2013 to Dec 2013 Gi10 models
As most of the older members following this thread will be aware that my G10 manufactured around Nov 2013 was amongst the unlucky batches. Whenever the car has been garaged for more than 5 to 6 days the battery would inevitably be drained. The last time I checked after the software update the battery would still die even after switching off the main fuse.
So after I had covered about 20 k kilometres sometime earlier this year I found another issue, a slight krr..krr..krr sound from the dashboard when the car reached 80km plus and a fluctuating rpm even on idle with the AC on. Early this month I had driven down to Shimla so I had decided to get the issue checked before I made the long journey. The service advisor diagnosed a faulty AC Compressor! and got it changed under warranty. There is no krr..krr.krr sound now and the rmp needle doesnt fluctuate, the cooling seems to have improved.
Now mid October I went home for Durga Puja for about 2 weeks and I knew that by the time I would be back I would have to call the road side assistance for a jump start, this had become a routine for me and I had succumbed to my fate of living with the battery drain issue. I have not been giving it much importance since I drive the car almost daily and the car hardly sits for more than 5 days, which leaves me with this battery drain issue not more than twice in a year. This time before leaving I had diligently switched off the main fuse and upon return unlocked the car with the manual key, opened the fuse box and switched on the main fuse, as expected the intruder alarm went on. Knowing the next step I half heartedly made an attempt to turn on the ignition and to my utter surprise the car started on the first attempt!
I am just left wondering did i finally end up beating the battery drain issue? Have any of you from the old Gi10 batches faced something like this?
The other thing is that suddenly after the last service my fog lamps arent working although the fog lamp indicator on the instrument console lights up. Is this a blown fuse?
