I bought the new Grand i10 asta (petrol) on 21st April. After 800km the clutch was giving problem. It use to make a tak sound when fully engaged and it also had a lot of play which made the driving experience horrible. Went to the ASC and got it fixed the other day. For now its pleasure to drive and had clocked 1150 km. [clap]
Hello Supercharger,

Even i am facing a similar issue. When i fully press the clutch pedal and release it - there is a tak tak sound from the bonnet. Also, engaging the first gear and reverse gear is jerky and gives bumpy feeling. Any ideas as to what might have gone wrong ? [confused]

EDIT: it is also jerky and difficult to put into reverse gear. ONly first and reverse gear are behaving like this when car is on. When car is off, both can be shifted to smoothly. The problem of hard gear shifting happens only when ignition is on. Its been only 3 weeks since i bought the car !

Thanks

Guys need some help here. I have a Jan 2014 rand i10 Era. I got Autocop fitted from a local accessory shop. Now I faced the infamous battery discharge issue with the car and more so in recent months. The service center blames it on the Autocop and says that the fuse box was burnt because supply was tapped from a wrong fuse box (internal). The burnt fuse pcb has caused shorting which resulted in battery discharge. Replacement will cost about Rs. 10000 s per the service manager.

Do I really believe him? I had complained on the Hyundai FB pae that my issue is not sorted. Though the complaint was not about the service center, I guess thay have had to face the heat. Because I am not sure if a 5 lac hatchback has a fusebox that costs Rs.10000. A fusebox of a i20 costs 20 gbp. I feel they are trying to scare me by telling me a high cost of replacement and then showing that they did me a favor by charging me less.

Last I remember trying to change the position of an internal wire of Autocop to another fuse and it didnot make any sound. So I have my doubts if it was really Autocop that caused the issue.

This a merely a problem of clutch not set properly. First of all visit the ASC as early as possible and get it fixed. Also to tell you, the clutch technology used in i10 is drive by wire and so its ultra smooth but it as issues like this. Regarding the gears issue even my i10 as the same problem for 1st and reverse, it is difficult to engage in it sometimes. I have read that this gears (1st,3rd& reverse) are not normal gears and this problem exist in every engine. But still you can get it checked. Also follow the 'Run in Process' given in manual.

Just a few suggestion:
1. Always get this type of work done from the ASC (atleast electrical) they provide for warranty for the work done and car.
2. Write an email to the Service team customer care crservice@hmil.net or call this # 1800-11-4645.
3. You can also ask about the part at other ASC or to the customer care.
The work done by the people of the car shop is of "Juggad" type.

I had also heard that the some of the grand i10 in the early year of production had this glitch and it was been rectified with some kind of software update. Try searching the internet.

Just wanted to update. The Hyundai Serv center claims that due to tapping of fuse from the internal fuse box, the fuse box has burnt and replacement will cost Rs. 12000+labor charges. I cudnt spend that amount now. So requested them to disconnect the roof lamp. They have removed the fuse and so no functionality from the roof lamp, trip meter (resets with every turn of the ignition key) and the blower also goes to fresh air mode with every turn of the key. Battery has been replaced under warranty as it just cudn hold any charge.

Hyundai did not agree to re-fit the existing Autocop unit. They asked me to contact the Autocop directly so a personnel can come and do the fitment. They said the internal fuses are low rated and if connection was made from the external fuse box, there wud have been no issue. Lets see how Autocop decides to go about doing it.

Lately I've been calculating the mileage of my car and it gave 10.3 kmpl with purely city(delhi) driving with a.c on 50-60% times. The car runs for 5kms approx in a day. I think its less for a 1.2 NA petrol engine with 83ps.

I can definitely help you in this regard as my situation had become same as you in between. My car used to run 4 km /day during weekdays and 15 km/day on weekends. I was getting mere 11 kmpl and was ofcourae diaappointed. I made changes in my driving style and now I am getting 13-14 kmpl.
Consider the following:
1. First of all you are bound to get very low milieage for any distance less than say 6 km at a stretch. I have noticed over a long period that engine teperature reaches half of its full mark (which is required) only after 10 minutes of engine running. So if your journey ends before that, your car will generate very low mileage figures(7-9 kmpl).

2. Have a very light foot on throttle. Change to higher gears early if you want power and back to lower ones later for speed but never press your accelerator more than 1/3 of its full range untill unless required. You might have to deal with low acceleration but believe me your mileage will go up by 2 kmpl.

3. If you drive more than 10km at a stretch will definitely get higher figures than usual.

For mixed usage ofnyour vehicle or say for 300 km a month you will get atleast 13kmpl in city conditions.
Just follow these rules and post your observations for others.

Hello All,
I feel Grand's headlights (low beam specially) is inadequate during monsoon. I am planing to replace them with Philips X-Treme Vision H4 Headlight Blub what are your thoughts?
Philips X-Treme Vision H4 Headlight Blub (Set Of 2Pcs): Amazon.in: Car & Motorbike

As for fuel economy i use car for 20kms a day. currently 100% AC and again 100% in Pune city driving i am getting 11 to 11.5 km/l tank to tank. Earlier i used to get around 12 to 12.5 but after 2nd servicing it seems to have dropped.
Also will a K&N air filter help?

Thanks
Arijit

I agree that the headlight are week compared to others vehicles but using the white light is illegal. Only the stock ones and only for low beams are allowed which comes with the high end cars.

Hi Arjit

You are right. The headlights are quite weak. How about a projector setup with HID kit. Will be the best option :
- requires lesser power than halogen bulbs.
- much better light throw.
- low beam not intrusive on the oncoming traffic (bi xenon projectors)
- looks much better with projectors. spray paint the reflector bowl and the shrouds matt black
- longer life as compared to halogen bulbs.

ive ordered projectors lens with hid kit from aliexpress.

As for k&n filters... it will have almost a negligent effect. cold air intake and performance filters make sense if you first remap your ecu for whatever kind of driving style you want and then add things like cad, exhaust system etc to compliment the remap the performance. In itself it's not worth spending. For mileage, ive read varied experiences about it. k&n may or may not increase mileage.

Hi Thanks Jonathan7s & Supercharger for the quick reply.
Will 3000k light bulb be white? I just googled it and it seems above 4000k it will be come white? But do correct me if wrong, don't want to be caught on the wrong side of law.

Jonathan7, could you share details of projector lens and hid kit you have ordered.
thanks also for the K&N update. Guess its just a waste of money if i am going to do 75% of my driving in city.

Hi Arijit

Following is the link:

Upgrade Full Metal Premium 2.5'' Pro Leader HID BiXenon Projector Headlight Lens Full Kit With/ Without White Angel Eyes Halo-in Lights & Indicators from Automobiles & Motorcycles on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group

As for the colour of the light, 4300k is the one that you get stock on most cars. The white light which is illegal is 6000k. 3000k will be quite yellow actually. Go for the 4300k. its the best colour specially in foggy conditions, atleast better than white light.
