Guys
I have booked grand i10 asta (petrol). I performed a PDI on the weekend. I took a print out of the PDI checklist available in the forum. It was much helpful. Even the Hyundai sales associate was surprised to see the exhaustive list. He mentioned that none of his customers did the PDI before.

I went to the stockyard and the car was with full of dirt. I requested them to wash, so that I can see if there are scratches. Did PDI for one hour and everything looks good.. Please find the pics below during the wash.

The car might be delivered this Friday.

Why did Hyundai change the size of the antenna in the Grand variants? Any benefits? The reception from the micro roof antenna were good enough![:D]

Must be cost cutting funda [evil]
These long antennas become problematic while entering 2nd level ground parking lots as most of the time there height is less.

Yes. I also noticed that there are lot of spec changes for Sportz version. It no longer has the start/stop engine button, chrome door handles. Instead they are providing steering controls and bluetooth.

Given the car for 3rd servicing today and the estimate is 2500 Rs.
Oil change+Air Filter replacement+wheel alignment and balancing.
Dear Partha,

How are you? I completed my third service at 19,500 kms in the last week of March before going to the hills. I paid the same amount as you did. The first paid service is due at 29,000-30,000 kms and I have been given an estimate of about 8-10k! At the moment my grand has run 23,000 plus kms. Overall happy with the car apart from the following :-

1) Battery drain problem still persists. 5 plus days without starting the car and the battery gives up.Although I did report the issue during the 2nd service and they did some software update, it didn't resolve the issue, I was told that the next time it happens please don't call roadside assistance but call us so that we can see for ourselves. Well it happened again but I was too lazy to leave the car with the workshop. Since I drive this daily I don't give this major issue the time it deserves. Whenever i go out of town for work for 5 plus days I just know that I have to come back and call the roadside guys for a jumpstart! Any pointers on what I should do. I know that the moment my grand stops being my daily ride I will have to sell it ASAP. Is yours resolved?

2) Reverse gear slotting is somewhat notchy and sometimes does not slip into place properly. I have figured out that a slight push towards 5th, may be only a few mm's and then bringing the lever down to reverse solves this issue.

3) Tyres showing signs of wear and tear, a small tear on the front right wheel. I understand a trye change is required at 30k plus kms. Please confirm. Will then go for Yokohama

4) Workshop guys have this habit of changing the clutch bite point, I specifically told them before the third service that they shouldn't touch mine and they didn't. Bite point was changed on earlier occasions.

5) No auto lock of doors when car speed crosses say 20km/hr.

I am happy with the mileage, have been getting 15kmpl constantly with AC off, and with AC on 12kmpl, happy with the ride quality and handling although many will agree that the steering gives a disconnected feeling. I am not planning on any upgrades.

Have you opted for the extended warranty, I was told it was available but then didn't opt for it, ma be I should.

Dear Members

Apart from the niggles I have faced with the grandi10, it is otherwise a beautiful car. Had the pleasure of driving 600 kms on NH 24 from Noida to Nainital and back, through national highways, state highways, good roads and roads from hell, the grand tackled all with elan! It behaved rather well on the hills, pulled alright in 2nd and 3rd of course with AC off.

Faced a small scare on the day of return, but that was not because of the car but the weather and the lack of knowledge on how to maintain cars on the hills. I was in Nainital for 3 nights and on the 1st night it rained heavily and brought down the temperature a lot, i had forgotten to cover the car and it got drenched the whole night. I started the car in the 2nd day morning and it started fine and I smelled burnt fuel/oil. I then covered the car and didnt start the car on the 3rd day and then on the 4th day when we were about to start for our return journey, the car would just not start, kept screeching and huffing and puffing and stopped. I got really tensed and called for a local mechanic since I felt that the battery drain issue may again be the culprit! In the meantime the hotel staff suggested that we push the car and let it stand under sunshine since all this while it wasn't. I had no hope in this theory. So the car stood there under sunshine for about ten minutes when the mechanic arrived and guess what the moment he switched on the car grunted to life! no screeching and huffing and puffing! I was told that this is a common occurrence on hills where the engine gets really cold. Car owners in hills apparently place a small quilt/gunny bags over the engine when they switch of the car for added insulation! Let the car idle for another 10 mins and we sped off. No glicthes on the 300kms journey back!

Posting a shot of the beauty

I am not sure about it, just like you I drive it daily and being a bit lazy to keep the car Idle for 5-6 days. The last time they did software upgrade and all but yet to check it really. I read somewhere that the real problem is with battery charge controller. So if this happens with you next time try replaceing that.

2) Reverse gear slotting is somewhat notchy and sometimes does not slip into place properly. I have figured out that a slight push towards 5th, may be only a few mm's and then bringing the lever down to reverse solves this issue.
Yes I face it sometimes.need to slot it in someother gear and slot back to reverse.

have done 20K and have rotated them twice. Now suddenly after this service I am feeling that the road noise has increased not sure if its because of the tyre rotation.

Even I didnt OPT for it, however as I understand they only cover engine suspension etc major parts under this warrenty plus no free roadside assistance

8K to 10 K [shock]
Feels it to be on higher side for this hatch
I don't think it will cost you 8-10k!

Few links found online!

Car-Dekho , MyCarHelpline

Even I have did some basic calculation, based on that, max you should be paying 7k, considering that you don't do whatever the SA says you to do! Yes, some times SA feeds you some BS, which you shouldn't blindly go for.

Just read the service manual, plan what are the things you need to do, and warn them you don't want anything else. Even if they find some issues, let them know you and you decide whether it is needed or not! This way you will not get ripped off!

Before we started doing this, we paid MASS a hefty ~10k for every 10k service for our SX4. But now at max, we pay 7k max. It is the responsibility of owner and if we let our guard down, there are people(read S.A etc) who are ready to rip you off.

Completely agree with you Furious Driver, these SA's look shady as welll, ready to rip you off. On earlier occasions I have said no to teflon coating, engine flushing! what not. Thanks for the pointers will read the service manual and make an educated decision. Should I get the third year extended warranty?

Yes, you should. Try to call customer support to know the price. Then contact your dealer. Try to enquire prices offered by various dealer. If you can, better get 4th year extended warranty too!

Engine flushing, A/C disinfectant and some usual scams are often shoved down the throat of customers, and those who are new car buyers or uneducated(car wise) will just nod their head. Even for my '09 Alto, they pushed me to get teflon till I sold it last year. [:D]

Businesses these days run on one goal. Lure the customers by showing something catchy, attractive and rip them off. It is working out well so far!

even 7k is high. I think it should be 4k. oil, oil filter, air filter plus general service - 2200rs.

check coolant as well so another 600-800rs. maybe sparkplugs and topping of brake fluid and injectors cleaning. nothing else needs to be done.

My grand i10 completed 6000KM and I am encountering an engine stall issue in first gear [confused]. This happens on inclines, one in every week or so. I got this vehicle 5 months back before that I was driving Alto Lxi and my driving style is adapted to that. In Grand i10 initial torque is more than Alto hence I use less throttle input. Probably this could be the reason for engine stall but just want to make sure
