Re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Asta (O) Petrol Ownership Review

What the hell is this man?You are living in India, There are courts available here, Not hyndai/Hyundai ASS rules here. You bought a newcar, which had engine failure within 1 year and you taken the car to ASS and they given the engine to you and told to repair it with a local mechanic!! and you have to pay for all this. You dont have a spare car for this time too.

Just leave the car and engine where ever it is, Go and talk with the GM/Owner of ASS, tell them to replace the engine and give a spare car till this time. If they didnt agree, tell them you are going to file a case in consumer court. You discuss this with an advaocate and if possible go to ASS with him. Do not compramise with them, unless they replaced the engine and they pay you the expenses.
its not an engine failure actually. the bolt that holds the crankshaft pulley to the engine got broken in two. half of the piece was stuck inside the engine so the entire engine had to be taken down. i was told that in order to take out the broken bolt from the engine i need to take the engine to a local wielder/lead machine. which i did and it cost me Rs 800 and 500 for transportation. now ive been told that the warranty does not cover this and they have given me rough estimate of for the repair- crankshaft pulley Rs 4200, bolt Rs 500, Labor charge approximately 2000. total around 6,700. the couldn't explain why the pulley came off! it looks like Im going to have to wait as I've been told that the crankshaft pulley is not available. my car has been in the service station for two days now... still waiting for the crankshaft pulley.
i know this is absurd and i will speak to higher ups.
The can be fixed but a life could have been easily lost! I narrowly missed a head on collision with a army truck as the steering & brake stop responding.
please advice how to go about
what is ASS/GM

I understand, crankshaft is a part of engine and the half of the bolt is inside the engine as you told. It is a serious engine issue, dont take it light. It could have killed you. More over that, they are charging you for the repair and you have to run to local workshop with engine!!. I am not sure in which part of the engine, this bolt gone and how you can sure that it doesnt made any issue with the engine.

I think these ASS guys will not update these details in the service record and in case any engine issues related this happened later, they will again not give you warrenty cover, telling that the engine may opened or repaired outside or other reason.
If they are not giving Warrenty for this case, then Warrenty is for what? Still i am not convinced, in what reason they rejected warrenty for this case.

You should have mentioned in the mail that, if you didnt get any respnse within next 48 hours, you will go to consumer court. I should say straight away file a case. Keep all the records.

My car is still at hyundai service station. i was told that the crankshaft pulley is not available and that i will have to wait till they get the crankshaft pulley. i have asked them if warranty will cover for and repair and they said no and that i will have to shell out from my pocket. i have asked them for an estimate and they said the spare part will be rs 4,700 (crankshaft pulley & bolt) and labor charge will be around Rs 2,000. which i believe is absurd!

please advice how to go about.
i narrowly avoided a tragic accident as the steering & brake stopped responding when the crankshaft pulley fell off
This is Absurd and Hyundai should take the responsibility. Atleast they should start by acknowledging the issue.
You can take legal route as it may have caused rather it did Life threat to you. Post it on FB and the 'The Logical Indian' and dont give away the warranty.
First thing ask the service center manager to give you all this in writing including his suggestion to get it repaired outside.

Re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Asta (O) Petrol Ownership Review

hi all, i met the GM today. initially the person who is in charge of warranty didn't want to take responsibility for what happened to my car but I threatened him that i will take this to higher ups so in the end he (Hyundai official) agreed to cover the repair under warranty. Sadly I've been told to wait for 10-15 days for the crankshaft pulley to arrive as they didn't have it with them. This is causing so much inconvenience to me as i dont have a spare car. I have already spent some amount on towing the car, taking the engine to a local wielder plus transportation. i bet the company won't pay for a these!!! God forbid! what if i have met an accident will the take responsibility? i narrowly avoided a head on collision!

its totally absurd that i have to wait for the spare part when its readily available in the Local market! i have checked some spare parts shop.

Thank you for your concern. i have posted in FB, The Logical Indian (yet to be approved) as you suggested.

I went back to the service station today and countered them. initially the kept refusing to repair the car under warranty so I threatened them and spoke the Regional head
and told him of my grievance and he agreed to have my car fixed without me having to shell out any money ( which i already have). Now i am told that the spare parts is not available and that i will have to keep my car there in the service station for another 10-15 days (my car has been there since Friday). I went to some spare part shops and the parts are readily available! i don't why they are causing unnecessary inconvenience. The whole family nearly got killed!!! There is a serious flaw in the material quality/design. how can a Crankshaft pulley just fall off? This is ridiculous a crankshaft pulley falling off a new car!
I hope the pay for the inconvenience and for what ive already spent (towing the car, hiring a mini truck to take the engine to a local wielder/lead machine to get the broken bolt out (the wielder charged me Rs 800).
thanks again.

I can understand what you are going through and thank god you and your family is safe.
If you buy from outside , they won't give you warranty.

But atleast they agreed to cover that in warranty.

I searched on the internet , there are 2 service center in dimapur , kaho and floyd , where did you give your car ?

I'll say ask the another one for the parts. If they don't have the part ask any other hyundai dealer , maybe in the next closest city. I know it will be time consuming but it's better to do something on your own. What do you say ?

Thank you. kaho hyundai has closed down so my car is at Floyd Hyundai. I am ready to buy the part from outside but they said that will void warranty and wont take if any problem arises in the future. and that i have to pay the labor charges as well. it seems the spare parts is available at Guwahati Hyundai but I dont why the want me to wait for 10-15 days as Guwahati is just 5-6 hours drive and it seems the spare part has been dispatched from Guwahati yesterday. In any case it should have arrived by this morning! i just came back from the service station, the told the spare part hasn't arrived yet. the are just causing me unnecessary inconvenience. it has been 6 days already. for a person who doesnt have a spare car is really inconvenient.
thank you anyway

Re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Asta (O) Petrol Ownership Review

hi everyone, i got back my car but i ended up paying Rs - 6158.
Rs- 2483 for Ac Levels (refilling was done as the emptied the gas)
Rs 3675 for engine oil, distilled water, coolant, ribbed belt and Labour & service.
should i have paid for all that?
it seems the crankshaft pulley and labour charges were done under warranty but i still feel they have charged me wrongly.

Why did you pay for those as well. [confused] report this to hyundai. It wasn't your fault that all the things needed to be changed.

Re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Asta (O) Petrol Ownership Review

I feel they done it at your cost and given invoice in the name of consumables and there is less chance for replace that including Ac gas.

Many of us already informed you enough earlier that you have taking it in a wrong way and you dont have to pay for it.

It is purely your fault and that froads in the Hyundai ASS just utilized you. Thats all.

Re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Asta (O) Petrol Ownership Review

I had my Grand i10's second service done this week, at 9500 kms and just about 12 months. This is what HASS did. They found out a problem in my horn (which I never faced) and did a clock spring change without any cost (due to warranty coverage). Any idea why this was required? The horn now seems to sound muffled. HASS said this is normal!

I am driving the car after the second service for 2 days now. No major changes observed as of now. The clutch response and overall driving definitely is smoother, but that's about it.

Total bill was 1400/-

Can anyone share their experiences/expenses on their second service?
