It seems like you need to replace bumper as well because it has got tore enough.
where in the snaps did you see the bumper. i was not able to see the bumper from any angle. i dunno did i miss the pic or so. but according to my understanding. its the door and the bottom end of C-Pillar that is damaged.
The bumper is not damaged. It's the door and the bottom end of the C pillar.

Also looks like your car's colour is Star Dust, which would be difficult to get in local garage (people correct if wrong).
It's Twilight Blue

in case you take it to the showroom it will be reflected in your service history as well keep that in mind too.
Can you elaborate a bit more as to what the service history would be impacting later on?

Anyone here in Kolkata who can suggest a body repair shop? I need some suggestions where I can take it to. I do not want to take this to any local shop since the car is just about a year old and I prefer to spend a bit extra and get a quality finish. If the Hyundai ASS charges more than what I can imagine ( i guess 8k for the entire repair), then I have to think of whether to choose the local shop to repair.

Hyundai will charge 2500-3000rs per panel and outside it can be done for 1500rs per panel( rates in delhi) and you are right you have to get both the panels painted. Depends on you , how much do you want to spend.
So, would it cost around 6000 to have both the panels repaired and painted if I take it to Hyundai?

Less than 6000. Hyundai quoted me 3000 per panel plus tax for my verna(white) so i think for grand i10 they should do it in less than 6000 rs.

Re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Asta (O) Petrol Ownership Review

Hyundai has given me the estimate as follows:

Rear right door panel replacement - 10000/-
Side panel replacement - 5000/-
Taxes - 3000/-
Total - 18000/-

If i choose insurance, they would cover around 15000/- and I have to pay the rest (3000).

Would take around 5 days to complete this job.

Do I go for this? They want this to start as soon as possible since the damage is still recent and insurance might cover less as I delay more.

Any feedback/thought/suggestions, please.

Thanks!

Did you ask any local painter ? I thought the hole can be fixed. I'll say ask a local painter if this can be properly fixed or does it need to be replaced. If he says finish won't be good then claim the insurance.

this can be fixed by the local tinker guy. would cost you not less than 1000 bucks and painting would be 1500-2000 per panel so total cost will be around 4k.
now coming to your earlier question. What Happens if it reflects in your service history, The resale goes down. also if you want to know check the rear door where you have hit check the seams of the door it will be enclosed by a gel which is a sealant. If you replace the door this seam sealant would not be there. hence anybody having a look at the car will come to know that your car is undergone an accident.

No, I haven't asked any local people - because I am not sure their fit and finish wont be good. Also, would they be able to complete the entire repair within 3000/- which i need to pay out of pocket if i take insurance?

hi, My Grand i10 is not even seven months and this happened- the crankshaft pulley came off (the nut/bolt got broken in two)! will warranty cover this? is this normal?

*couldn't find the pulley that came off and i have to buy a new one
*half of the nut was stuck inside the engine.

The shift from 2nd to 3rd has become hard and difficult to engage. It needs some effort unlike other gears. What might be e cause for this ? Also, the reverse gear is very hard and not as normal like other gear shift. What must be done ?

Rest of the gear shift is smooth.

My car is still at hyundai service station. i was told that the crankshaft pulley is not available and that i will have to wait till they get the crankshaft pulley. i have asked them if warranty will cover for and repair and they said no and that i will have to shell out from my pocket. i have asked them for an estimate and they said the spare part will be rs 4,700 (crankshaft pulley & bolt) and labor charge will be around Rs 2,000. which i believe is absurd!

please advice how to go about.
i narrowly avoided a tragic accident as the steering & brake stopped responding when the crankshaft pulley fell off

That sucks. It cannot just fall off on its own. You should have pressurised more. Talk with the manager that how come pulley fell of on its own. I'm assuning it was never opened before and i think it surely is a defective part. Post the images on FB and send an email to Hyundai about this.

You should in no way pay for this. Since the pulley is in the open do you think any stone hit it from underneath ? I know even a stone should not cause that much damage but it can be possible.

No it has never been opened, my car is not even 8 months and i haven't had any problem prior to this. Yes , it is a defective issue. as show in the picture... the bolt which holds the crankshaft pulley split in two. half of the bolt was stuck inside the engine. had the engine taken down and i took the engine to a wielder to take the broken bolt out ( i was asked to take the engine and get the broken bolt out as they didn't have the equipment to do so).
yes the pulley is in the open but given its position it will hard for a stone to touch it besides i was driving in a very smooth highway.
Any help on how to go about will be highly appreciated.
i did mail to hyundai customer care but i doubt any action will be taken

Post it on fb , and they'll reply. Just ask the manager that i want to report this issue , ask for any number and email. Did they give you a cause as to why this happened?

What the hell is this man?You are living in India, There are courts available here, Not hyndai/Hyundai ASS rules here. You bought a newcar, which had engine failure within 1 year and you taken the car to ASS and they given the engine to you and told to repair it with a local mechanic!! and you have to pay for all this. You dont have a spare car for this time too.

Just leave the car and engine where ever it is, Go and talk with the GM/Owner of ASS, tell them to replace the engine and give a spare car till this time. If they didnt agree, tell them you are going to file a case in consumer court. You discuss this with an advaocate and if possible go to ASS with him. Do not compramise with them, unless they replaced the engine and they pay you the expenses.
