Re: Hyundai Fluidic Verna VTVT SX (O) 2 Years and 30,000 Kms

hi there,

I need some advice on replacing suspension for fluidic verna

I have this Fluidic verna 1.6 crdi 2012 model, has done around 42,000 kms, now the suspension has gone very worse and my family members are scared to ride on the car now so i think its time to replace.

as far as i have researched, there are 2 options now. #1. Teins street basis suspension, #2. 2014 verna's suspension replacement.

#1. I called red rooster performance for the teins suspension, since i am in Cochin they dont have a branch here, but they will be able to ship the item through FedEx and i should install it with the local mechanic. its costs Rs. 90,000, i am pretty sure this would be a great upgrade and would give a better comforts on the ride. they also said this will be a life time suspension and wont wear out like a normal suspensions.

#2. As i searched on internet, I find that some of the old fluidic verna owners have replaced with the 2014 verna's suspension setup in their vehicle and found it to be much better than their previous suspension setup in ride quality. I have asked for the cost of complete replacement of springs and dampers from Hyundai, they said they will get back to me soon on the cost in detail. As far i know the springs alone cost approx. about 5000 per Nos.

The Teins is extremely expensive, i think this is because of the import duty and tax, otherwise the real cost of the street basis is around 50k outside india :( . but if its really that worth, I am okay to invest on it, but if replacing the 2014 verna's suspension setup can give a better comforts, then i wont need the teins. can anyone please advice what would be a recommended option?

thanks!

Re: Hyundai Fluidic Verna VTVT SX (O) 2 Years and 30,000 Kms

I installed this RogerAB thing from my local car dealer a couple of months back and it seems to be doing its job fine. Ride and handling has definitely improved. Although the price is on the higher side, there are no other options so I went for it. If you primarily drive in city, they maybe not worth for you but im already at 50k now and that stuff at least helps a bit. But I do hope that we can get a proper suspension mod like some bilstein shocks (at least i can dream for it) considering the amount of power this rocket has. The 1.6 CRDI and its torque never fail to put a smile on the face but the suspension is like a speed limit.

Thanks for that info silverjet! i think adding the RogerAB is a great option to consider at this point.

I called hyundai guys, they have no idea on the suspension issues or about the 2014 verna's suspension improvement, i dont think i can trust them anymore. They said the springs need not be replaced but they can replace the dampers that costs around 8000 for the front pair. i am not sure if that will fix the issue.

i also called the Pete's Automotive who has the head office in Cochin, with a hope they could have some solution, but unfortunately they have no options for Fluidic Verna suspension at this point.

i am not an driving enthusiast, not looking for super handling feature, but i do need comforts for me and the passengers. The major problems happens when on full load, when i have 2 members in the rear seat, and when there is a speed breaker the bump is too uncomfortable even in very low speed. and there are too much bumps in the cochin roads due to the metro rail work, this is getting too uncomfortable! I cant believe there is still no affordable suspension solution for Fluidic Verna!

I think now i will try to add the coil over spacers either from RogerAb or Auto Runner.. I will enquire more this week, meanwhile if anyone have any other ideas, please let me know, thanks!

Thanks Jerwin! Looks great, i think this is the most cost effective solution to the suspension issue.

I wonder how these spacers hold between the spring? wont this fall off if springs expand in some cases?

That's point with these coil adjusters. I have installed them in all four springs. But those in rear coil springs are now broken and used to slip from their position regularly.
I have found C spring assistor as solution to the problem. I have inquired with the manufacturer in Ichalkaranji near Kolhapur but due to production constraints, they have not supplied it to me. May be silverjet can comment on this as he is from Kolhapur.

@integrine, They havent caused any problems as of yet in my case. Mine has done 20K kms post installation of these spring spacers and they are holding good.

I have installed RogerAb and its like almost an year now, no problems doing smooth. Ride has become stiffer and with peace of mind i can move over any road humps without bottoming. You can consider spending on RogerAb and if still you are not comfortable then better go for Teins rather then Hyundai part again which will wear-out faster then the once made specific from Teins.
My only issue now is that the tyres are making good amount of noise, running at 48k now and when got it checked the tyre shop guys says that it still has 8k-10k life left in it without any problem.

@sandy, I have no idea about that stuff available in Ichalkaranji maybe I can inquire if you tell me the name/ address of the manufacturer. As far as my car goes, I don't think that I have had any of this problems of slipping with RogerAB (they are basically the same assisters that jerwin has but the company claims that it is made up of a unique material which is supposedly better and last longer) but the stuff is also more expensive at price around 8K.

edit: now available for around 7k online Assisters

@sudee, does your rogerab (rear one's) overlap? Mine seem to be much bigger than they need to be for one complete circle and hence do a complete circle and then some.

@silverjet, yes it was bigger in length by around 1inch causing it to overlap, so I cut it into the required length and installed. Overlapping will cause creeking noise when on full load or when it hits uneven roads.

Today the white plastic cover of left ORVM broken in bumper to bumper traffic and felled down. I couldn't pick the broken plastic cover. Good news is that Left ORVM is in good condition and working. Now I want to know can I replace only the outer cover of ORVM or have to replace whole ORVM? Also want to know good Hyundai service centre in Mumbai who will not cheat me.

Today fitted the plastic cover of left ORVM at accessory shop near Sion koliwada. First went to Shrinath Hyundai, Chembur but the service guy told that the whole left ORVM will have to be replaced. Then he himself suggested to look at local spare shop where I can get it easily. I enquired at 3 to 4 shops but cover was not readily available. All promised to me to make available in one day. But by luck old cover of other's car was available at another shop. He polished it and made new and fitted properly. Total cost 1k.

Re: Hyundai Fluidic Verna VTVT SX (O) 2 Years and 30,000 Kms

Guys, today morning when i started my car I noticed that the Airbag(SRS) indicator continuously ON. Took it to Hyundai service center to get it checked. Upon running the G-Scan the error thrown was the "Airbag resistance too high", ASS is suggesting that the airbag module on the steering needs to be replaced (cost 1.4k+labour). Anybody has faced this problem and suggestions or recommendations.

I had similar problem an year back where the airbag malfunction light was always on. Took it to ASS. They scanned and replaced the coil-spring under warranty. Don't think it's same issue as yours but issue is with the coil-spring (a connector for rotary motion connections).

I think it's worth to change the airbag module as you won't like to take any risk related to safety.
