I second Nick on the smart key system ... Just to clear the air on misinterpretation, passive keyless entry the so called smart key is not powered always . When the user presses the button on the door handle the 3D antenna around the door handle activates LF frequency which powers up the key. Then that energised key transmits the secure encrypted key and authenticates itself.
So when the car is parked the battery drain is altogether a different issue definetly not the smart key.

I doubt the smart key system would take up enough of charge to drain the battery in 2 years time. I bet any car manufacturer would've taken that into consideration. Another guy out here Gears1313 has a sx his battery conked of before 2 years were up and he does not have the smart key system.
