Dealers are quoting 6 months for delivery to be on safer side for them. But in reality car is delivered in 4 months.
@dadasaheb, in your case i think you are not following up to the dealer. Make them harrass. Call after every 2 days. These dealers are very careless if dont follow up. Argue with manager just what i have done. 8 months toooo long?

thanks for your suggestion, I am doing the same thing since they have extended
the delivery by 2 months.
it is very sad that Hyundai did not have proper waiting list management and dealers are taking benefit of this by allocating cars according to their wish.
I have called at Hyundai's regional office at Mumbai they are saying two contradictory things 1. allocation is done according to booking dates 2. allocation are based on dealer to dealer basis
As a result of this one of my colleague got delivery of 1.6 SX in 3 months only from Ahmadnagar he had booked on 3 oct 2011 and got the car in first week of Jan 2012
on the other side i am waiting for the booking of 25 July 2011

I think that Regional office people and these dealer guys have mutual understanding between them. frustrating things...

when i have asked manager at dealership to show me booking dates of all verna delivered in Jan 2012 to make the things clear, he is saying that those are confidential things, i also told him that i am only interested in seeing booking and delivery dates and not the person name and contact numbers.

why not try and check with other dealers? they typically to this to get a bribe whenever a car has become a major hit and sells like hot cakes. i am not sure if the dealer will allow you to see previous booking dates but he can let you see current orders and allocations and also let you know how many deliveries are pending before you. Try threatening the dealer that you are getting irritated by them and being without a car is making you suffer looses hence you are having second thoughts of canceling the booking and going to buy another car of a different manufacturer. or tell him based on good words at time of booking i have told my friends to book any hyundai car they want from you, but if this is whats happening you do not want to loose your trust with your friends hence will be advising them to not book a hyundai.
if you are buying on a loan talk to your bank and have them talk to the dealer.
in my case loan amount was disbursed one month before i got delivery just on dealers promise, as i am a preferred customer there they called up the dealer to ask if i received the car even gave them a mouthful and said we will discourage any of our customers from dealing with you.
after 6 days car is in my parking.
all the best dadasaheb any more help needed then please do ask. i hope you get your car soon. i have been through the same thing my friends booked on the same day with another dealer and got it before me that to a diesel while mine is a petrol

Nick, thanks for your suggestions. i have asked another dealer through my friend who is regional manager in Hero motocorp, same dealer having hyundai and Hero dealerships, they told us that they can give 1.6 crdi sx in 2 months, but at the same time he said not to cancel current booking with Kothari hyundai as they have also promised delivery in next 2 months. also he said that cancelling booking at one dealer and if another dealer gives car in 2 months then there can be possibility of spat between these two dealers, god knows. but currently i am thinking that if hyundai would have handled Verna waitings and delivery in much planned manner then customers have trusted hyundai more.

if you take a look at petrol variants you can get one in a month or less, guys these days are opting for diesel some for the beast and some for the cheap running costs, so lots of diesel bookings. hyundai has lots of dealers and and as per what i have heard the manufacture cars according to dealer demand and allocation is that way. dealers always face competition. so i don't think much of a spat will happen give a thought to it. or wait 2 months and see. since i do not like being corrupt and jumping lines these are what i can suggest for now. others may advice you to bribe its your call although you can use that same money to add things in your car

It is true that delivery period varies from dealer to dealer within the same city. It very much depends upon dealer's performance, relationship with company and so many other aspects. If dealer is not giving good buisness to company, they can overlook their bookings and allocate the cars to other customers throgh other dealers. Its simply buisness nothing else

Two managers in the dealership told me that people are giving them bribes varing 50K to 2 Lakh for immediate delivery of verna crdi , and they are not entertaining such moves. hard to believe but may be.

Today I have received a call from Hyundai Customer Relations related to my complain against the dealer, person on the other side asked me that if dealer have contacted me in this week, i said big no and they are updating me when i am approaching them.
to my surprise i have received a call from dealership with in 5 min after the call from CR and then Manager said that why i am contacting Delhi people and he said not to panic they are going to deliver my car in last week of Feb or first week of March.
hoping that they will keep their promise.

I have opted for diesel as my running will be much more than 15K km / year.
and also feeling scary about petrol FE by hearing Nick's issue of FE.

dadasaheb the fe issue is pertaining to my vehicle only the rest are getting 14-15 on highway runs.
my yearly running is around15-18k kms still i took a petrol not cause of the waiting time but cause i feel more comfortable with them and love the rev happy engines.
i am changing my oil by next week hope fe issue gets sorted.

for future petrol verna buyers my fe issue is one of its kind, the other cars get a better fe. unless every one else says the same of the fe please do not go by my review with regards to fe.

what i feel the dealer is hinting you of the bribe. which guy is mad to pay 2lakh extra? i suppose you may be paying 11/12 lakhs id simply add 3 lakhs and get a chevy cruze and get it faster then pay 2 lakhs for nothing. or just wait and use that 2 lakhs in a fixed deposit/ add stuff to my car

i am not going to give them any single ruppee to dealer than the actual cost of the car, rather i will wait and keep the extra money in my OD loan account, which can earn me interest same as the loan interest (SBI advantage car loan with OD facility).
I am going for diesel as my running is more and i am more comfortable while driving the diesel ones, verna crdi is the most silent machine seen by me, may be better than some petrols available currently. (other than verna VTVT and Honda City )

I have also booked @ Kothari Hyundai in Pune.

they have told me not contact in march first week so they could tell me the delivery day. Deliver would be in last week of march or by second week of April.

I would be following up regularly.

I have heard gov might charge around 80K in excise for diesel cars, if thats the case and i dont get the car by march end, might opt for petrol.

It is always better to clarify the issue with the dealer. As the news is coming govt is planning to increase excise duty in coming financial year. Cant imagine how much will it effect on sale of diesel cars?

Good news for me from the Hyundai dealer, received a call from them yesterday and they said that your car is allocated to you and you will get it in 15 day (8-10 days transit time from chennai to pune.) waiting for my beauty. :)

I too called the dealer. The said mine still not allotted in this month.

will have to wait for some more time. What is the color you have chosen and diesel or petrol?
