I have completed 1000kms in my new i20 Elite Petrol. So far things are good. Last day I have noticed that the RH Headlight is with moisture in it. I thought it may be due to the heavy rainfall. I decided that it will be better to visit the Service center and report the issue. They have checked and found that there is a crack on the top side of the headlight assembly. Picture attached. Their first assumption is that something fell on that cause the crack. The place of crack is under the bonnet and they cannot find any scratches near and around the crack. No idea how it happened. May be a fault from their side. Anyway they took the photos of the cracks . Told me to wait one week until they get reply.

Congratulations to all Elite owners [clap]

Hyundai's Elite i20 reaches 100,000 sales mark

Automobile manufacturer Hyundai Motor India on Monday announced that its premium hatchback "Elite i20" reached a cumulative sales mark of 100,000 units in India.

"We are overwhelmed with the customers response by receiving over 100,000 sales for the Elite i20 in 11 months," said B.S. Seo, managing director and chief executive, Hyundai Motor India.

The company had launched the second generation of i20 in India on August 11, 2014.

The company described the frugal diesel and petrol engines in the Elite i20 as a mark of engineering excellence, which also incorporate new technologies.

The "1.2 Dual VTVT Kappa" petrol engine offers a mileage of 18.60 km per litre, whereas, the "1.4 CRDi" diesel engine provides a 22.54 km per litre mileage.

I feel that the steering wheel of the elite i20 is lighter than grand i10. Too artificial. My brother drove grand i10, vw polo and elite i20 and he thought that the grand's steering was more closer to polo's as compared to i20. Wanted to know if anyone else felt the same?

100% agree with Nishant5858. Steering weight increase as the spreed increases in Elite i20. its much better than previous gen i20 and better then Grand i10. Steering is light and idle for heavy city traffic condition.
But still much behind than the benchmark of handling like Polo or Punto or even from swift. But Hyundai seems that they are in process of improving the Steering feedback in their new launches. Hopefully it will more improve in Creta !

Hi Friends,
I am 1st generation petrol I20 owner and was thinking to upgrade my car. I won't exchange the car, old I20 will stay with my father and I will go for a new car.

Now I am confused between Xcent and elite I20 both petrol variant. Questions:
1) Xcent over elite I20 - Heart say NO!
2) Elite I20 again - heart say why Not? Brain says think logically again same car?
3) Any other option - to bit elite I20 may be not now but Creta (iX25) could be an option.

Guys please need you suggestion on this. Please help.

More pics of my review:
(notice the small window and high window-line at the rear, with respect to my chin and shoulders.)
What is the colour shade of the car?

well ive driven my grand i10 140+ kmph (on an empty stretch, not promoting overspeeding at all) and the steering weighed up nicely till 130 kmph, after that it becomes light. Dont know how i20 performs at those speeds. Another thing i noticed with i20 and grand i10 is that if i take a U turn with the i20 and around 15kmph and leave the steering it doesnt centre back on its own however in grand i10 it does. I think centering back is quite useful in a city like delhi or city driving in general. All in all I think the grand's steering is light but more weighted than i20 at city speeds atleast and the weightiness is definitely a welcome feel while driving in the city or highways. However, hyundai has still quite a distance to cover in terms of steering feedback to come in the ball park of the europeans.

I'd suggest you to wait atleast till the Creta is launched so that you have another option with you if you dont care if its a hatch or a small SUV. As for xcent or i20, of course i20 (diesel). Hatch with a boot is SO wrong design wise.

Since you are asking about Petrol, let me jump in with my 2 paisa!

1. If more highway runs, buy Xcent over Elite. You will feel the strain of 1.2L more in i20 than Xcent.
2. If budget is not a problem and neither you aren't hyundai fanboi, why not wait for Jazz?
3. Also how about Creta! It got 2 engine options if we have to believe the various news source. In that case, even you can get 1.6 for better price assuming Hyundai will price sensibly!
4. How about Tata Bolt/Zest? It's spacious, FTD Petrol engine, decent feature list and priced sensibly too!

1. Creta would be another option to about.
2. Jazz, I agree it's much better than Elite I20 in handling and ride quality. But high maintenance cost and scare Honda service center makes me tink otherwise.
2. Tata cars, is not an option for me!!! Period. Tough my personal choise.

Hyundai wouls 1st option as they served me for last 6 years. Moreover I20 with GPS and touchscreen (launch date - 8th July 2015) will surely kill the market of Jazz.

1. Creta would be a overkill IMO, but if you are okay with the price, then yes it is good to have.

2. Jazz - Not expensive as you think. My friends City petrol service costs were not high and service was almost as good as MSIL/HMIL. It is upto us to select the good one though!

3. Got it! But it is sad to see how even informed people hesitate to buy an excellent product just because it is from Tata. But hey, it's your money!

Regarding i20, I have always felt i20 Petrol was good and all, but trust me, after driving Polo, Grand/Xcent, Swift and Punto over detailed TD, I felt i20 is the at the bottom. Why? Yes, it might feel like low-mid range torque is enough, but no. That is just because we have accustomed to it.

One drive in Polo was enough for me to made my mind up! And that was the reason I dropped i20 while I was on lookout. Surprisingly I felt Grand siblings with same engine fares better and I have no qualms in driving even after 11k kms. If you are so into Petrol, and you want Hyundai, then Creta/Verna is your only option. And make sure to pick 1.6L for fun. I had so much fun driving 1.6L than 1.4L ones. And from your post, I figured FE is least of your concern, so both of them wouldn't have issue then!!!!!

Mr.Antanshank-

From your points you didn't refer to which class of car you need ,i felt you need one car from Hyundai Stables( Am i correct?)- It's my thought only .

Based on this perspective-
You can try i 20 active also na?
Looks of compact Cross over.
More fresh than elite i20
Obviously the niggles of i20 have been rectified as per most reviews.

1. Any idea about the pricing of the car?? Will it be value for money?
2. Nice the surely I will count Jazz. Just that I was a bit afraid of it's post sell costs.
3. I agree tata has improved by leaps and bounce, but I still can't make my hear settle on it..

1. If what sources/reviews have been said is true, then it might start from 8-8.5L range for base model for Petrol and expect 80k premium for diesel.

2. You mean service costs? Have a look at this link to see city service costs and I am sure it will be in line or even less compared to City IMO!

3. I understand. But we, the informed buyers, should at least appreciate the product and try to get them or educate people to purchase. If not, then, I don't know if TATA or any brand for that matter will produce such VFM product ever for our market.

1. Any idea when will it be launch?? Heard from Hyundai SA on 30th June 2015 but still no calls from them to invite me for the launch.

2. Thanks I will surely consider Honda Jazz.. Any idea of the launch date?

3. Yes, I agree Tata Zest and Bolt is not VFM cars but they are among top cars in their segments.
