Hey Ilango ! Congrats. The Tata Sierra was my teenage wet dream. At that time there was nothing quite like it. Even after all these years, the road presence it exudes is nothing short of terrific. Take care of your Sierra and wishing you miles of happy 'taking the rough with the smooth!" And yes, I envy you.

Yes its owners pride and neighbhors envy!

Well before you all ask for the pictures , i say about todays update and after the lunch heading to garage with the cam for sure.

the fan noise was stopped as one loose bolt of the idler was hitting it now and then. solving the week long mystery.
But before we could conclude , as said there was mild shake in fan , hope so permissible to all but why the noise. so removed radiator/intercooler etc and then found we were removing all these unnecessarily.

Did we fit back , well no what we did was now began to look for the small shake. have removed the fan holder assy fully and now in lathe to check its bearing and tighten the shims that is needed.

Suddenly the devil inside woke up. making the fan pulley smaller in diameter so that the belt traveling length increases so the fan rotates at high speed even in idling. This was a long time idea when there was some overheating issues.

Well electrician wanted to try the pending work today itself! and he is in lathe with one smaller pully , cutting welding aligning and what not , to match the grove of the original place .

At the end it is me without a car for today!! the issue was solved in half an hour and fixing back everything , another half an hour. By 10 in morning , or worst case by 11 in morning , everything should have been fine! BUT

The car is still looking good and retains the bold image. Just some refurbishment required and it will be back in showroom condition. BTW, Nice pictures.

sierra whole new wiring

Ah, I figured it out.

It is the film on the glasses ruining it IMO.
May be the angle of the picture. [evil]

everything is in stock , other than 2 tone painting.

Update :

First sorry for no pictures , reasons , one :every time to garage i forget my cam . Two : my mobile have problem to connect to pc and this member "holysatan is caught with work , else i'll transfer to his phone and he will send me the pics. any ways i have captured work pictures.

So what work going on?

My electrician , thrilled by smooth ride after tyres , bush replacement and also the batt replacement , wanted to get rid of all old wires. Though i didnt want to do that work now , he wanted to do it just immediately .

Removed dashboard - removed all the whole wiring , the fuse box , the relay system , the wiring bunch etc.

Now the originality of the wiring/car is removed[frustration] , which i dont like , but the happy thing is every bit of wire is new.

work process is going on.

have bought 3 4mm wire boxes , each 200/-
one 5 mm wire box - 400/-
lot of tapes!!

prepared the bunch of wiring needed - a major work , done by taking measurements , lot of cuts and sorting etc , phew!

New fuse box , the regular thing removed , have bought the one used in heavy vehicles , the cylindrical type. [it used to be in benz truck some 25 years back - same model]

fuse box relay and everything shifted from engine bay to interior in a hard mica board.

will update pictures sure - till then please bear !!

Re: sierra whole new wiring

The originality might be lost but a new wiring harness would definitely improve teh quality of your electricals, and, if done properly by someone who knows what he is doing, would also take up reliability up one notch. All the best !

IMO,the quaity of the wiring may not be upto the mark of the company (OEM) wiring, because we can find may plugs at the end of the wires which is to be connected to the bulbs/any accessories. But in this case we just join the wires (apply tape on them).

Please correct me if I am wrong..[:)]
