My sierra do run on safari rims !

@hemington ,

The alloys on 111 on prev page was better than here.

Sierra do look cool with or without tints.
Ilango...sorry again I am a late entrant but hey your Sierra in black looks BUTCH...congratulations!

I agree with most of the other TAIns of the Sierra being a childhood icon. The one Indian car I've always aspired for since my childhood. IMO..it still ranks among the best looking SUVs in the world [yes..the world not just India...just look at its 2 door desing with the huge glass at the back...the design was decades ahead of its time, but sadly the utilitarian Indian mindset didn't give the car its due :( ] I still would like to own but I guess it would hard to maintain for me coz I am not a techie like you :) .

By the way dude you have a thing for making even the worst cars come out the best!!! Its amazing how you single out the problems and fix them at a fraction of a cost. Imagine if you would go to a mechanic with the problems you've written about in your recent threads about the Sierra, I'm sure he would have ripped the guts out of your pockets !!!

ya i too was told same thing long ago when i was asking why esteem don't cool at high speed
@masterquall and @ilango - I apoligize for the intrusion friends but I don't agree with this logic of slow speed cooling better. Take it from me friends, I've lived and driven in some of the most inhospitable and hottest climates (Arizona,USA and the middle east) where you could die in your car if you a/c doesn't chill within seconds.

ALWAYS...I repeat ALWAYS worked with the blower in full speed, it tooks EONS..to cool in lower speeds. Maybe I am wrong, but its kinda hard to digest the logic. Maybe there is some other genuine reason for the a/c not cooling well with high blower speeds!

The logic behind this is:

When the blower speed is low, the air gets more time tobe in touch with the AC refrigerant pipes and thus better cooling effect. The higher blower speed is good when just starting the AC after the car hasbeen in sun for hours, but anytime the slower the blower speed the better the cooling.

as merc has already explained . see if you have automatic climate AC when set temp let say 21 . you will notice first for few min it will run on full speed later it get slow soon it runs on 1 or 2nd speed because even company know at slow speed you will get better cooling + no point of blowing air at full speed because cabin is already reached normal temp.

Hi, I got a Sierra Turbo last year in may. right now i have a small prob with it. The turbo is making a lot of noise. The engine sound has gone up and the whine of the turbo is louder than it should be. When the car is started i sometimes see some exhaust smoke coming out from under the bonnet. I suspect that there is a leak in the plumbing somewhere.

I went to a mech who quoted north of 15,000 if its a minor issue. I somehow dont buy that price. Can any of you guys suggest a mech in Bangalore.

turbo works with the exhaust gases thrusting on to an impeller which compresses the intake air...and if ther is a leak in the exhaust side of the turbo yu get exhaust gases al aorund the engine room and even the turbo whine may be dif..i think yur issue can be resolved with a visit to the turbo specialist..like the "saravana" guys from near shanthi nagar...may a vist there and yu might get yur answers !
