Friends need all your help and advice. I have new Ford fiesta 2012 DCT (automatic transmission), run 14K. Series of problems like clutch shuddering, gerks and vibrations 8 months back, they applied TSB and after two weeks again problems came back, replaced clutch pack, after 4 or 5 months again same issues back. Now I have given to ford dealer for repair (through ford customer service) and after 3 or weeks of diagnosis dealer informed me that entire transmission has to be replaced and costs up to 2.5 laks. Vehicle's 3 years warranty was over just 2 months back. I have all the documentation in my possession related to this repairs. I am planning to go through legal route to get the compensation if Ford cannot repair permanently on their own costs.
1. Let me know if anybody has experience in dealing with consumer courts/consumer redressal forums etc.
2. Since ford could not fix the same problem while in warranty they have the accountability to fix the problem on their own cost right?
3. Also Ford gives lot of publicity about their 10 years/100000KMs warranty on their DCT/Automatic transmissions should not they replace it/fix permanently irrespective of whether overall vehicle warranty is available or not

Your responses are much appreciated.

Now I know why everyone goes blindly for Toyota and Honda :-(

Yes the Fords Getrag wet clutch DCT is known for this issue specially the ones made between 2011-2014,not just in India but world wide, if warranty is worn out then there is no choice other than either selling the car or approaching the situation legally,
Technically its the hydraulic actuators that fail and cause the trouble, the reason why these actuators fail is still unknown, but fixing clutch and Updates to TCM wont have much effect, reliability wise Ford DCT specially for Fiesta are some what notorious,
If time is not an issue legal approach can solve the issue since Ford says the gear box is 10 years trouble free, anyway really sad to see a car fail with such low kms on odometer,

Anyway do keep TAI updated on this issue, so far very few in India has come up with this issue,so we dont know how Ford has reacted to this situation as well.

Hope its battery issue, other than that if any techical details are revealed please do let us know the same as well,
Here's the update guys. The primary reason they say is due to fuel adulteration which is bit difficult to digest. My friend has been putting petrol from the same petrol pump for so many years in his maruti earlier and so many ford vehicles use the same petrol pump.To gauge the issue, the dealer technicians had replaced the fuel injector ,battery but had not replaced the pump. The ford technician found adulterated fuel as an issue and replaced the fuel injector, pump and some sensor. Also the ford technician wasn't happy even with the fuel the dealer stores in their containers at the workshop which was used.
He has got the car after a week finally on road.Lets hope for the best.

That could be an excuse for a faulty injector from factory, but for petrol its too rare that something like this has happened,
Anyway the full work was carried out on warranty and do keep us updated on labour costs and proceedings, cant believe this specially for petrol[frustration]

Yeah we were quite amazed,But they claim its a one off incident. No labour costs etc as it was carried on warranty

Ditto same thing happened with my first Gen old model Figo diesel, they replaced the injector under extended warranty and the reason they said was fuel adulteration.

Yes they also told me it is one off case rare issue.

If I am not wrong then adulterated fuel usage fells under the category of ignorance by customer and warranty isn't entertained in this case. If my understanding is correct then they are hiding some other defect under the name of adulterated fuel.

Yes they are hiding some issue, usually diesels have this issue and its not very hard to find vehicles affected with such issues, adultrated fuel based issues can be best identified with
lack of Power,
blue,black,white smoke from exhaust,
Unconditional vibration from engine after pumping

And mostly diesel is what gets adultrated most while petrol adultration is extremely rare,
On another note Ford,VW,Renault all 3 are said to have fuel injectors, getting replaced for such reasons like adulteration a lot of times, there have been lot of such cases reported and most of them un reported since they get the job done under warranty.

I for one believe its mostly manufacturing defect or some other issue like low injector pressure that eventually causes damage to injector or rated electronics that causes the issues,
Ford s solution is simple, the Ford guys check OBD,EGR,turbos, and priming test with some other fuel, if the issue persists they will blindly replace injectors or the block itself, because down hunting the issue takes time and lot of expertise, they just order a new Crate engine and associated parts from Ford inventory and replace whatever they feel could be causing issue,

This happens with Maruti, as well but again nobody reports it.

So we cannot go into a hard core conclusion that its a Ford reliability issue, its there for lot of brands but mostly European brand customers have this issue reported most number of tines,
