Dear Experts

We drive from center of city to suburbs, its 8kms (city road) and 12 kms (highway). Even today the highways(around chennai) are crowded at 7.30 am and 5.30 PM.
Anyway if its diesel my only worry is diesels can't be used > 10 yrs right.

OK we are now thinking more about "FORD ECOSPORT" 1.00 L eco (or) 1.5L. I am not sure about the ECoboost since it has small 1.0 L engine for an compact SUV. Alto K10 has a 1.0L engine? Sorry for my ignorance here.

How about the maintenance cost as it is "FORD". ? is it better than japanese suv's in quality?
Maintainance cost is cheap for Fords for regar services, its only for accident damages, scratch clearance, polish, dent clearence etc that will be costing more than Japanese brands,
Reliability wise too Ford is not as strong as Toyota, but they are on par or better than Hyundai, Indias 2nd bigggest car maker,

Running is 40 km a day average, diesel will make more sense,
10 years is a long time, by 2020 or so a lot of new cars will be in market, the markwt will be vastly different, we might automatically give the car for something else by 7 years of its life itself, resale will be pretty low, there is nothing we can do for it, but a petrol car will make sense onlu if running is just about 20 km per day or less.

Today noon i returned from thanjavur, and at night 9 reached Bangalore

Its via trichy kulithalai namakal salem route
Mixed environment. Till namakal it was sunny from salem cloudy and till reaching krishnagiri heavy rain
So driven at diffrent speeds and changing gear and driven my car according to the sittuation, so speed varied from 60 kmph to 140 kmph
Why am telling all this, because i was shocked to see this mileage figure using tank full method and also on my 4 yrs trusted android app shows this mileage 23.xx kmpl

50 k Km service update

Last Saturday got my car back from 50k km service. Gave my car to FSC around 10 o'clock in the morning. Got my car back at 6:30 PM. Engine oil, oil filter changed. All the brakes were cleaned. Checked the battery status. It was really week. So I decided to replace the battery. Battery was replaced with the same make Motorcraft. I think 3 years and 50k km is good life for a stock battery. Faint rattles from passenger side dash board arrested. Now car is running smooth no issue. Even after 50k km running there is no sign of ageing in the car. I am really happy. I am continuously getting FE in the range of 19 - 20 kmpl. Worst FE so far I have seen is 18.5 kmpl. What more I can ask for [:)]

Now the bad part.

My car's top mount stop lamp got fused and the shocker is that bulb can’t be replaced. We will have to replace the whole top mount brake light assembly. it costs 3.5 k [surprise]. FSC guys told that since the washer fluid arrangement is integrated in that assembly it is not possible to change the bulb. I informed SA that I will visit after some time for that lamp. Is it true guys?

2017 Ecosport will most probably feature India made Dragon series of engine
They are fully ingeniously developed engines based on the same Ford 1.5l Sigma blocks that the current 1.5l i4s sport, the engine as of now has just TiVCT, but the Dragon series of engines might add DI(Direct injection) to add more power per stroke
The Dragon series of engines might be 3 cylinder units, advantage is the engines rev much better if its naturally unbalanced but the vibrations will be very high, but Ford might use balancer shafts and counter weight s at flywheel like in 1.0 i3 EB engine to shut off a lot of the vibrations
The engine is expected to make upto 130 HP in 1.5l guise and 95 HP in 1.2l guise, torque will remain almost the same as of in current 1.2 and 1.5 TiVCT engines
Mileage wise these engines could be much more efficient than the current TiVCTs, some sources claim the engine while idling and while on cruise can mimic Atkinson cycle which is a very efficient engine cycle to get maximum mileage
Anyway the new NGT rules for diesel ban and all have made petrols some sense and the new Dragon series since made in India it is could be cheap as well and could give Ecosport a very bringht 2017 opening
2017 Ford EcoSport will debut the 1.5L 'Dragon' engine

I am facing one weird issue on my 2 months old ES Titanium D done 4K on ODO.
The FE in MID even after reset is constant at 17.2. I check the FE with Tank full method and it comes to 16.XX approx. Not sure why MID is showing the figure as 17.2 even if I drive on highways / City
Please suggest

It's probably going to be weird for a lot of people to see an Ecosport featuring "L" board stickers on the road. But that is going to be me. Looking for inputs from fellow Ecosport owners on understanding the quirks and the do's and don'ts with this vehicle. Any help will be appreciated much.

Few specific questions

  1. Heard a lot about the dreaded A Pillar blindspot. Is this something that I should be mentally be prepared to handle as a learner and what should I do
  2. Does the Petrol 1.5L vehicle move off in the biting point in 1st gear on uphill slopes?
  3. Does raising the seat height to its maximum help in having a visibility of the bonnet? I took a TD in an Ambiente version and couldn't check this.

1. Yes Ecosport has a blind spot and its huge, one has to be careful while taking turns at junctions in the era of unethical two wheelers and pedestrians, one might not get used to it soon, even if used to it, always have a special eye on Ecosports blind spots

2. Yes, I have test driven the Titanium 1.5 petrol and its a great machine, cheap and effective, a very nice option specially for new drivers and non enthusiastic drivers who dont do more than 7000-9000 kms a year.
With 4 on board however the 1.5 will struggle a bit specially at inclines

3. Yes it does improve bonnet visibility, it depends on height of driver, I am 5.5 feet and for me I like driving with lower seating position so a 3/4 th of total maximum height was superb for me, for the maximum position I felt the visibility was great

Hi guys

Booked my ecoboost tit+ and awaiting delivery by next month from Harry ford, trivandrum. After a deep research and 6 years experience from my crdi verna 1.5, going to a petrol engine, that too a 1 litre! People calls me crazy, but i am confident on Ecoboost. Any suggestions or advices before taking the car to the road will be much appreciated.
